FF events: obviously working backward (toward the rescue from the island? a meeting in the "middle"?)

Jack: bearded, drinking heavily, oxycodone addict, suicidal, refers to father as alive, obsession to go back to island (weekend flights, maps and atlases); tired of lying about island

Funeral: whose? no one but Jack, who says he's neither friend nor family, attends; not one of O6 because they are famous

Kate: shown briefly, questions why Jack contacted her, tone implying she told him not to; appears wary of Jack; expresses negative credulity when Jack thought she'd go to funeral. (We now know that it was Aaron, not Sawyer, she was returning to, the "he")

("Through the Looking Glass, Part 1")

Hurley: out of control and being chased by police; put in mental institute; seeing visions (?) of Charlie; wonders to Jack about returning to island

Jack: appears in control of himself, with no stumbling or outward evidence of alcohol/drug addiction; makes comment about growing a beard (NB bearded in above entry); states he will never return to island

Matthew Abaddon: questioning "Are they still alive?"

("The Beginning of the End")

Sayid: working for Ben as a hitman to protect his friends

Ben: removes bullet from Sayid in a veterinarian's office; it is obvious he is "running the show" still; refers to some event that caused Sayid to be recruited by Ben

("The Economist")

Kate: cleared of Wayne's murder; still at odds with her mother; raising Aaron; still friendly toward Jack; stops Jack's lies on the stand

Jack: still loves Kate; won't go see Aaron; clean shaven and coherent; still holding to the lie about the island

("Eggtown")

Sun: lives alone; gives birth to her and Jin's daughter (prematurely?); visits Jin's memorial;

Jin: dead or left behind on the island because his memorial bears the crash date

Hurley: dressed in a suit and seemingly mentally well; visits memorial with Sun after seeing baby

("Ji Yeon")

Theories:

  • The "Through the Looking Glass, Part 1" coffin contains Ben.
    • He has no family in the real world, and nearly everyone who would care about him (Tom, etc.) is dead.
    • Jack cries after learning the news, not because he is "friend or family", but because it is apparent that he wants to get back on the island and saw Ben as his last hope.
