• Charles Widmore could be the "real" identity of Troup's character, Arthur Widmore. The two seem to have some similarities in their manner.
  • Charles Widmore's discussion about his drink could have been a small reference to the novel Bad Twin, providing evidence of more similarities between the metafiction and Lost reality with regards to the Widmore characters. In the book, Arthur Widmore is shown to be a connoisseur of good Scotch whisky, as indeed all things Scottish (relating to his ancestry).("Flashes Before Your Eyes")
