Unsig
Hi, Santa. I know you're a regular user of the "unsigned" template, which of course is a good thing because it helps keep the talk pages understandable and it also encourages people to sign their comments. You know how this template requires the manual inversion of the respective order of username and date when copied from the page history and how it also requires the manual addition of the time zone. So, I made a new version of this template, adapted from a version from Wikipedia, that fixes these problems and, I believe, will be a bit easier to use. You can find it here: Template:Unsig. If you like, feel free to use the new "unsig" template instead of the older "unsigned" one. One other detail: as mentioned in their usage instructions, both templates (unsigned and unsig) were thought for usage in substitution by preference to transclusion. Their code is very short, which is good for substing. And their transclusion could eventually cause some problems on talk pages if their syntax is modified in the future. So it seems advisable to always subst them. -- Cheers (talk) 18:11, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

Delete Please
I recently uploaded Image:LostOffice1.jpg, but now relize that since I did not get permission from the creator, it violates copyright laws. Please delete it. I'll re-uploaded once I get permission to do so. Thanks. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 20:18, 24 March 2007 (PDT)
My Sig
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. However, someone brought it up before and I believe that it is actually correct now. You may have viewed a page I wrote on before I corrected it. The last edit on a talk page, before this of course, is Talk:Psychic. Please let me know if it is indeed corrected. Thank you. Hooper talk contribs email 06:55, 25 March 2007 (PDT)
- Actually, this evening I'll go through my contribs before I corrected the error I had and try to take out all the coding on those pages and replace it with my sig. Thanks. Hooper talk contribs email 07:10, 25 March 2007 (PDT)
- Hey, sorry to keep up with this, but I want to make sure I've gotten it corrected. I went to the link you showed me, and double checked every part of my sig. When I talk on a talk page, such as this one, if I hit edit again, it just shows me the User:Me/Sig thing and not the actual code anymore. Is it still showing you code? Because it looks corrected to me. Thanks for the assistance. Hooper talk contribs email 07:06, 26 March 2007 (PDT)
Edit Count
- Hi, I was just wondering if there was an easy way to tell how many edits you've made, like a counter or something? Because it gets tiring, counting edits one by one. Thanks.--Berethor222 21:01, 25 March 2007 (PDT)
Revmax
Hey, can you get a look at this guy for me, User talk:Revmax? He's breakin a few rules namely, wiping his talk page, inserting unnecessary humor on pages, and launching personal attacks (on me). Can you just give him a warning or something? He's not paying any attention to me. --Blueeagleislander 02:57, 26 March 2007 (PDT)

Transcript Check
*As far as I can tell, he actually did that one. I'm sure that we are the only one who has this transcript, but I haven't checked a couple other sites. On that one, there aren't any clues (e.g formatting that I can use to check it) so unfortunately we'll just have give him the benefit of the doubt on that. --Marik7772003 05:59, 5 March 2007 (PST)
- Remember when I said that earlier? Pardon me, but it was a crock of bull****. SilvaStorm did indeed copy that transcript. With the help of Xmuskrat's Copyscape tool, I found a forum thread that has the entire transcript. And guess what? Every single word that was typed on that forum thread, has the exact same wording as our transcript. Check out the transcript here: [1]
THerefore, he copied it. God, I am so sick right now... --Marik7772003 11:47, 26 March 2007 (PDT)
Article Attack Nomination
I'm not sure if we can, but if so, I'd like to bring up Scientology (theory) as a possible article attack. In the past few hours we've managed to drastically change the page from the point-of-view-ladden work it was, but it could still use alot of work from others with more experience in the Lostpedia community. Just a thought. Hooper talk contribs email 13:40, 26 March 2007 (PDT)
- Sorry, didn't mean to cause such a problem with this article. It kind of red-flagged me this morning when I saw the articles name and the name of the person editing it..and I mentioned this with the author. I think he made some good points and tried to keep it as NPOV and Lost-centric as possible. I really don't want anyone, including the other contributors, to get upset. Just trying to make sure that in the end a well done article that has a purpose here is made. Thanks for taking the time to look into it though. Hooper talk contribs email 17:51, 26 March 2007 (PDT)
Electromagnetism
Perhaps a heads up. I recently bumped a line that Dharmatel4 posted on the Electromagnetism over to the theories tab. Apparently in response, Dharmatel4 moved a sizable quantity of the rest of the article to the theories page as it was too "speculative." I'm going to chat about it on the talk page and see what can be worked out, but thought perhaps you or another sysop could observe for the time being. Thanks. --Scottkj 09:02, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

Re: episode names
Sorry for the late reply, since I was very busy lately. Regarding the episode names, actually the names used are the original English names, in English in Roman (A-Z) alphabet. This is due to the fact that TV Land, the channel that runs Lost in Egypt, is an in English-language programming channel. So it's pretty much like how it runs on ABC here for example, except that only during the episode's running, you'd see Arabic subtitles, in which you'd see the Character names written in English phonetics but in Arabic script, but that's as far as Arabic scripting goes. Since the subtitles are only used during the episode's events, and none during opening or closing credits, or the channel's ads for next episode for example, thus there are no subtitles to translate the episodes' names or the name of the show. I hope this helped. Please let me know if you need any further information, and I'll try and answer it as soon as I can. Regards -- 10:46, 29 March 2007 (PDT)

RE: Mazzarella
Well, most of my information on the topic comes from the lost-tv redshirts forum, and sites that they use as a reference. Also, I'm currently working on a project over on lost.wikia.com regarding identifying the redshirts, but I see what I can do in regards to Lostpedia's redshirt section. As of right now, I believe that all information regarding the redshirts on this site are more-or-less correct, if incomplete. -- JoserKyind 04:10, 10 April 2007 (PDT)

re: bunnies
Thanks Santa, I'm just baby stepping my way around editing the wiki right now:), so I was going to use it in a discussion. There is white text, or a white squiggly line in the rabbits neck/hole and its been hard to find a cleaner pic of it. It may be the glare off of the plastic sheet, or just a prop error (because it really doesnt look like it should be there), but I think that it may be a part of the symbol. That pic and the 2 links you gave me might be the cleanest we get for a while, which is too bad. Right now I'm scouring the facade of the hatch in HD for any symbol, so far nothings coming up. Heres my version without the white in the dot[3] and the bunny screencap[4]. I'm not quite sure where, besides talk, that the screencap belongs though..?--mac_ad 15:56, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
favor with redshirts/background cast
- Hey, would you mind doing me a favor, the redshirts opening paragraphs(s) that describe what constitutes a redshirt leads to the false belief that redshirts are in fact the same as the background cast. Re:Macedonia
I had written a long time ago that Lost in Macedonia is subtitled and not dubbed, it is in the table at the beginning. And about the Cyrillic transliterations.. they ARE very similar, but they are not the same because although the alphabets seem same, there are some special characters that are not part of both the Macedonian and Russian alphabet. So if the Macedonian names of the characters and actors are needed, just let me know. Later, -- Steff talk contribs email 00:38, 19 June 2007 (PDT)

- High resolution images are not justified under "fair use" provision of copyrighted content. Please do not upload high resolution full screencaps. For related reading, see WP's policies. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯ Talk 20:29, 6 July 2007 (PDT)
- Right. Actually, that's a Wikipedia policy. This is not Wikipedia, nor hosted in its server. The bottom line is what the Fair Use law dictates, and it says nothing about high resolution pictures. It says that copyrighted material can be used on specific circumstances, like critical comment or research. High resolution pictures are not more or less copyrighted than low resolution images. But if that's the general consensus, I'll leave it alone. --AlexAx 03:02, 7 July 2007 (PDT)
- I see what you mean -- a loophole. Sorry but his is nonsense. You say that high resolution images do not fall under the Fair Use law, but then you use many pictures on places that certainly do not adhere to the Fair Use guidelines -- like this template. There’s no way Fair Use allows you to use these images here as they are.
With Fair Use, it all boils down to whether the use of copyrighted pictures hinders in any way its owner from selling their product. What do you think is worse for the owners of the product: if someone takes screenshots from purchased DVDs, or if someone downloads the episodes to take low resolution pictures. Because that's what most do.
Moreover, when I say high resolution images, I'm not referring to 960x536 pictures. I'm talking about pictures with brighter colors and definition. If I didn’t know season three is not out on DVD yet, I’d say this one right here was a high resolution image. All I'm saying is that the site could benefit from better quality images, and since you're not complying with Fair Use on many cases, I see no reason to maintain an embargo on DVDgrabs. --AlexAx 14:39, 7 July 2007 (PDT)

Hey there. I've noticed the work you've been doing recently on some of the voice actors. I'm an administrator over at Heroes Wiki and would like to get started on some of the voice actors for Heroes. I know you're not the only one who's doing the work on the voice actors, but out of curiosity, where have you found the names of the actors? I have trouble finding anything at all. - Just thought I would let you know I updated the Russian voice actors you added. They all do a lot of roles each so if you scroll down or use the find on your browser you will find quite a few minor character the voice actor also portrays. Question
Hi Santa. I've noticed that some of User:Plkrtn's comments in discussions have been a little, um, angry lately. I know that if I started telling new users to "cut it out", and if I was using a character's genitalia as a basis for an argument, a sysop would chastise me. He also banned a user, and I looked through the history of that user, and the stated reason for the ban isn't clear to me. If you happen to know what is going on, can you help me make sense of it? Thanks! -- Dagg talk contribs4 8 07:58, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
- I would humbly recommend that any users who are "exasperated" should take a break from Lostpedia. Was the user banned because of "the quantity and frequency of attempts to change policy across the entirety of Lostpedia with little consideration to the existing community" ? -- Dagg talk contribs4 8 10:59, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
- I won't go into depth on the seemingly out-of-the-blue recent block, since I want to hear Plktrn's explanation first. I would only note that, although you say that "However this one user was putting pages and pages of content in talk pages,", at the time I was banned, I hadn't made a single edit to Lostpedia's Talk space in 2 days. Wouldn't I have banned in the midst of my horrific firestorm of Talk page edits if that was the reason behind it? :)
- However, I would like to respond to some detailed theories about my psychology and methods you posted to User talk:Dagg recently, if you don't mind. You seem to make some rather dramatic assumptions about me based on nothing other than the fact that I'm a Wikipedia editor. You describe me as having "Wikipedia community-type logic", something I'm sure many Wikipedian friends of mine would find hilarious, considering how different I am from a typical Wikipedian. :) Let me address a few misconceptions. First, Wikipedia is generally based on ever-changing guidelines, not strict "rules"; it is largely similar to here, except, as noted, for sheer number of users. Also, small formatting issues are usually a nonissue at Wikipedia; you'll quickly find that any two articles on Wikipedia, in fact, will probably demonstrate more stylistic variation than any two Lostpedia articles (in part due, again, to size). And where formatting formalities have become overblown debates on Wikipedia, I've avoided them.
- Most Wikipedians do not make lengthy posts, even during discussions; I have run into trouble for this on Wikipedia just as often as here (though I managed to become an admin despite this due to the strength of my reasoning, my willingness to compromise and my open-mindedness to counter-arguments), and certainly didn't learn that unfortunate habit of mine there. If any of my posts are overlong, feel free to ask me to summarize them; I assure you that it is not because I have no regard for the users here or their practices, nor is it because I want to turn this place into Wikipedia (If I wanted to edit Wikipedia, I would be at Wikipedia, not here). It is just an unfortunate flaw of mine, nothing more; trying to read into my deep, dark, secret Machiavellian motivations based solely on the size of my posts is fruitless. ;)
- If I have been "unreasonable" on naming, it hasn't shown in the mountains of support I've gotten for most of the specific page-name moves I've proposed. Even User:Plkrtn, who seems to have developed a strong dislike for me, concedes that most of my substantive editing changes and suggestions have been on the money; he for the most part only objects to my manner of making those suggestions (which I have been trying to work on), not their substance.
- You are mistaken regarding what happened with the Portal:Episodes reorganization (which has thus far met with a pretty surprising level of approval and a lot of productive collaboration and revision). First, I did bring up my proposed reorganization several hours before I actually began to implement any of it. Second, User:Mr.Leaf did not revert any of my proposed reorganization; he only reverted a minor change I'd made to the color scheme for that reorganization. Third, Mr. Leaf's stated reason for that revert was because he thought that color scheme was only a "test" to see which color to choose; he reverted not because he disagreed with my reorganization, but because he thought I was using articlespace as a sandbox, which I was unequivocally not. I explained his misunderstanding and reverted the edit (which he never bothered to later restore, once the miscommunication had been cleared up, even though he later brought up another issue there), then continued with making changes in response to the criticisms and suggestions there.
- Your own revert was rather odd, suggesting that you hadn't read all the Talk page communication up to that point—which isn't any great crime, since the discussion was already a tad long, but it's advisable to clear up these misunderstandings and disagreements on Talk pages before rushing into mass-reverting a largely uncontroversial change. (And, again, all of this is only talking about a specific color scheme; it has nothing to do with the actual organization system I proposed, which has been universally praised.) In particular, I wonder how can you say "in addition to making huge changes in the main article space based upon his own internal justification." when I extensively detailed my Portal:Episodes proposal, and its justification, before, during, and after the changes in question? I listened and responded to issues that were raised, made compromises and changes, and didn't even make any overlong posts. I've certainly made mistakes since coming to Lostpedia, but where is my great sin here?
- Additionally, I actually have listened to every single one of your suggestions on my Talk page; if I have strayed from any of your advice there, I implore you to point it out to me so I can change my behavior accordingly. All of your suggestions were about Theory pages, and I have acted in accordance with them. I also welcome any further advice you think may be helpful, and appreciate your willingness to explain any things I may not yet understand about this site. Again, I hope that you can see past the relatively trivial fact that I've edited Wikipedia to see that I am here to help, not to force everyone to conform to my will and "fix" what ain't broken. I'm here to assist, improve, and lend my ideas and recommendations in order to best benefit the Lost fanbase; I only hope you will give me the opportunity to demonstrate this. -Silence 17:32, 23 July 2007 (PDT)
Well, I'd suggest that my behavior is abnormal because I'm a weirdo, not because I'm a Wikipedian. :) Certainly it is not because I don't care about the wishes of this community, nor because I have no regard for its policy; I am, as you say, new here, and I made so many early contributions because I was impatient to be of assistance to this impressive resource, not because I think this site is just a mini-Wikipedia. I apologize for giving you the wrong impression, and I too hope we can start over with a clean slate and work together to make a great site even better. -Silence 13:05, 24 July 2007 (PDT)
Eko move
Hey, tried to contact on the IRC but you didn't respond. Eko Tunde/Theories needs to be moved to Eko/Theories, plktrn forgot to move the theory page when he did the page move. --Blueeagleislander 01:22, 25 July 2007 (PDT)
