I was wondering, wasn't there at one time a category simplifier, like the Img tags that Mr. Leaf made, where you simply filled the categories into one continuous tag? If not, could one be made? -- Sam McPherson T C E 10:54, 29 November 2008 (PST)

- And as for the Zack Grobler interview that you're adding questions to, he replied initially but has not emailed me since early October, so I'm not thinking that the questions will be submitted. -- Sam McPherson T C E 11:00, 29 November 2008 (PST)
- Pretty much Zack Grobler and Caden Waidyatilleka are the only ones whom have agreed but not had their questions sent due to them not replying emails after the initial "yes." Sally Strecker has just completed her interview. However, as for other crew members, I've got nothing. Francois Chau said he'd do an interview after season five was over, and I'm fairly sure I could get part twos with Rebecca Mader and Bobby Roth (if he directs Lost again). -- Sam McPherson T C E 11:26, 29 November 2008 (PST)

Edit
Their names and pics were already on the voice actors portal, I only translated some material about the voice actors from the Portuguese Lostpedia.Orhan94 14:04, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- First - thanks, it's nice to hear that somebody thinks of me as an editor that contributes to LP in a clear and encyclopedic way.
Second - the reason why I used the portal is because that way i don't need to search a picture of the voica actor, myself, because many users from the Portuguese LP leave a name and a pic of the voice actor, and I go along to make the articles. I'll start referencing the articles now, the ones I've already created and the ones I'm going to create. Though, I'm currently trying to translate Portuguese and French voice actors, I don't mind helping with Cyrillic articles (on the Russian LP), because I live in country in which people read/write in Cyrillic. If there is any other way I could help with the voice actors' project, let me know.Orhan94 22:40, 27 December 2008 (UTC) - I checked few of the voice actors' articles on the Portuguese LP, and I didn't find any sources nor talk pages for those voice actors. I'll also check if they have an article for the voice actors in general, but if I don't find a link to any other websites to confirm these voice actors, I think that we should contact users on the Portuguese LP and ask for links to their sources. If they don't have any reliable sources then we should delete all of these articles on the English LP and the Portuguese LP.Orhan94 17:57, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

User Page Over Use
Edit
Hey Santa! I understand about the wikia helpers being so busy and all, they are just the ones that I get refered to after talking to a Sys Op about a problem. I also look for one that doesn't receive many questions at a time or one's that look like they were working on, in the exeption of Angela, I posted that because I was willing to wait up to 5 months to get it fixed, i could care less. On the other hand, I do make a lot of edits to my user page but that is in the soul purpose of practicing wiki code, it's the one thing I hope to excel in more than anything, and most of my edits are to my user page because I only got on here a couple months ago. My page is that of any other user page that someone who hopes to be a major editor on the site has created on LP. I went out of my way to make sure my page wasn't the biggest and only had other content that other user pages only. A lot of my edits we adding new stuff taking old stuff out, changing colors over and over again to experiment with different styles and so forth. I have had some very minor problems in the past with screw ups but I was curious as to we you said "so-highly-coded-it-needs-intensive-bug-fixing" what's on my page that you can't find in your basic article other than the background color?-- SawBucks Talk Contribs 06:40, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind, just forget about it I don't you to explain it to me. I'll take care of my page, I didn't know that their bots working to fix my page and all that, and I really didn't know that my page affected anyone else, in return I'll make my page a "normal" page when I wake up. All problems fixed and everything goes back to normal, one way to look at it is I didn't think I even made in impact on here but I guess I did! Well had fun and thanks for the chance to learn new wiki styles and code. Thanks.-- SawBucks Talk Contribs 08:01, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, last night wasn't a good night and when the chance came I got PO'd. I took care of my page the best I can right now, but just as a heads up, most of my minor edits will be to my personal pages, not to show boat, but because I like my theories to be posted on my theories page, however I will only focus into updating that page and not "overdoing" my User Page. Talk pages will still continue to be posted on, there's nothing I can do about that, a lot of the time it's not worth going and finding these people or asking these questions in the forums. But I understand about the change and apoligize for being a D***.-- SawBucks Talk Contribs 20:27, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

category redirects
Edit
The only reason I'm redirecting categories is because I want to narrow down the Special:WantedPages. After LP moved to Wikia, Special:WantedPages was and still is overflooded with red links to categories (which should be placed under Special:WantedCategories) and red links to templates (templates like Template:Mag/Character secrets and Template:Ep/Find 815 clues/January 22). I really didn't know what to do so I started manualy changing the cats on file articles, but got nowhere because just changing ever pic that links to Category:Charlie images instead of Category:Images of Charlie Pace took me changing links on over 30 pictures, so I decided to start redirecting categories to clear out Special:WantedPages. I'll stop redirecting them but it still leaves a big problem in Special:WantedPages.Orhan94 18:27, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, me and CTS were talking about the Background cast/Others page and how we should add another column or two since Season 5 is like 2 days away and there's bound to be new pics. Plus he had another pic of an Other and was trying to figure out how to put it in. I tried unsucessfully adding another column so I didn't do that. He added a 2nd row under that Other's section (its Michael deYcaza) and put in the photo (it's still like that atm). Voice actors
Edit
I can't edit the Voice actors page, and also it seems I can't report a problem either (though that have something to do with the fact that I have a really slow PC). Anyway, this week I started tracking down non-LP sources for voice actors, and, thus far, I've been succesful, only find tracking down the source for the Italian voice talents. It's www.antoniogenna.net, and also it sources the pics and names of every main and a lot of reccuring character on the show. I strated updating some of the Italian voice actor pages on LP, such as Niseem Onorato with info found on this site. Though I'm pretty busy these days, I'll try to find the source for the Portuguese voice actors (as they are source-finding priority since the Portuguese LP hasn't got sources for them) by the end of the month. I know that the voice actors are not a priority now that Season 5 begun, but if you have time please check what the problem is on voice actors.Orhan94 20:49, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Also Daniel Faraday, Bea Klugh, Zuckerman, Lynn Karnoff, Tom, Frank, Emily Locke and Nadia, don't have an Italian voice actor listed though LP's source for italian voice actors lists a vocie actor for each one of them. Santa, I just noticed something after posting this attaboy. You short-banned M310172431 for edit warring, I presume due to this edit, but I don't think he did edit war. Looking at the history, this diff does not show up, and notice that Daniel's edit was hours and hours before your last edit there. I think this is a stuck post, much like the problems we've had suddenly happen on new episode pages when they are first started. I think that page is suffering from a wiki bug where Feek9's edit reverted your previous edit, without the knowledge of the editor. If this is the page for which you banned him, please note it appears to not be the user, but a wiki bug. If not, forgive my intrusion. I wanted to ask your opinion on the way I'm trying to reorganize the Voice actors article, see here. I think that it will make editing that article as well as searching names on it. Another thing, I'm also trying to fill out the empty places on the list as some of the sources listed on the Voice actors article are being updated (such as the French, Italian and Spanish sources). After I'm done with it, I'll try and finish the empty places on the Portal:Voice actors as well as adding images to it. --Orhan94 22:12, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Template Problems
Edit
For some reason, when this template is used on a talk page, the "edit" link for that section goes back to the template page, not the talk page, so people (mainly me), thinking they are replying, often accidentally edit the template itself. RE: Automobiles
Edit
I made an idea for a new Automobiles page, and made subarticles because otherwise it wouldn't work (see the idea here)... Then someone added {{main|Automobiles/name}} to the original article, and that was not a part of the plan... I don't care if the {{main}} template is removed from the article, but my idea doesn't work without the subpages, so please don't delete the subpages... Thanks - Rasmus Ni Talk Contributions 09:51, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- The "major change" that I made after four days discussion (and the reason that I wrote "Done"), was categorizing the subpages... And the only edits I made on the page was adding
{{discussion}}<small>*Subsection "[[Talk:Automobiles#New page|New page]]"</small>and adding[[Category:Automobiles|*Automobiles]]... It was not me who added the{{main}}templates (see the history page), but it was me that made the subpages... The reason I categorized the page and the subpages was that LOST-Hunter61 requested it... The major change that I want to make is to make the page like my idea (see here), and the idea doesn't work without the subpages... The reason that I want to edit the page is that I think that it looks better and it loads faster... - Rasmus Ni Talk Contributions 23:56, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Revisiting episode titles ban + Old spoilers discussion
Edit
Hello. So, a while back, there was a decision made to ban all episode titles from the wiki with the exception of the immediately upcoming title. As far as I can tell, this decision was made in the topic Lostpedia talk:Spoiler Policy/Archive 02#Titles are spoilers! (redux) and was made because there was no way to create a collapsible Nav template for the episodes. As you may have seen, users were recently able to create such a template. As such, the original justification no longer applies, so I've reoppened the discussion here. If it's not too much trouble, I would like to get all the SysOps to weigh in on this publicly, as I feel previous spoiler policy discussions have been ignored and/or avoided by SysOps from time to time (particularly [[this one where there was a user consensus to set aside a page for officially released content from the producers, similar to the old "/Spoilers" pages, but used only for official content, which was never heard about again, despite a 100% consensus in the discussion.) At any rate, it would be great to have you all weigh in since I think this is an extremely important issue for Lostpedia that we have resolved, given the original reasoning behind it. Thanks. Jimbo the Tubby talk contributions 07:51, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi Santa. I think you missed the topic I was actually pointing you to on Lostpedia talk:Spoiler policy. My post in the topic "Alternate spoiler policy" was not what I was referring you to, but rather the topic above it. At any rate, the collapsible nav talk was specifically: (quoting from here)
- As a compromise, what about making the season 4 episode list template collapsible, defaulted to closed? It would hide potential spoilers, plus it would take up less space on articles that are usually pretty long. --Minderbinder 14:32, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- I like that idea as well. - TheAma1 14:37, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- I like this idea - I think that this could please both camps. It is also easily reversible at the end of the season. -- WanderingMathematician talk contribs email 17:42, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- Agreed. It's a fair trade. -- Nusentinsaino talk contribs email 17:45, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- Very good suggestion. While I don't think that most episode titles themselves are too spoilery it should be possible for anyone to view the season 4 episode pages without being forced to see them. --MacCutcheon – Talk? 07:10, 21 February 2008 (PST)

It seems like there's some support for this idea, but unfortunately it looks like the code for collapsable content isn't included in the mediawiki software. Looks like it can be added to the site, but someone with some technical chops would have to do it, and there would have to undergo some serious scrutiny and approval before adding it. I'm not exactly sure where the discussion would best take place, but the wikipedia/wikimedia info on this feature is here [2] and here [3] if people want to start investigating the possibility. --Minderbinder 11:40, 21 February 2008 (PST)
- There is a lot of support for this, understandably, and I would support a collapsible table for the current season. However I've tried to include this, but have found it very difficult to implement, if not impossible on this site. I'll have a word with a few people though, and see if its possible. However, don't have any hopes. If others want to have a go, they are welcome to. I also don't believe titles are spoilers by the way, and I don't think we are spoiling anyone more than ABC, TV Guide or even an electronic programming guide on my TV. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 13:11, 22 February 2008 (PST)
- One related point, although not covering the entire scope of the "title" issue. The title of the next upcoming episode will always be revealed, because we have a "Next Time On Lost" section on our Main Page. Therefore this debate is necessarily constrained to future episodes not including the immediately upcoming one. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯ Talk 11:48, 23 February 2008 (PST)
- Moving from this idea, if the collapsable tables don't work, one alternative is to create rules for these future episode names beyond the immediately upcoming one:
- leave these episode names out of ALL articles except their own. Most significantly this eliminates these from the season 4 navigation (which is locked and securely policed)-- and also from Airdates, Portal:Episodes, and Season 4.
- OR: simply prohibit these episode names everywhere, including creation of their own articles. (We'll still have to create, salt, and lock these empty articles w/out edit summaries). -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯ Talk 12:03, 23 February 2008 (PST)
- To reiterate, the immediately upcoming episode is fair game for the nav, airdates, portal, and season 4, as well as article creation that includes only the title and airdate. The immediately upcoming episode will still be subject to the same prohibitions currently listed in the draft policy: no creation of new character/cast/event/etc. articles, and no listing of the episode name/number in existing articles.
- Moving from this idea, if the collapsable tables don't work, one alternative is to create rules for these future episode names beyond the immediately upcoming one:
Note your own post "if the collapsable tables don't work, one alternative is to create rules for these future episode names beyond the immediately upcoming one:". Which is why I reopened the discussion (again, it's not the discussion at the bottom of the page: that's something else altogether).
Also, since you asked, the hypocrisy I've taken issue with on the spoiler policy for over a year now is the motivation: saying that we ban spoilers because the show creators don't want us to have them, but then going and banning information that they, themselves, give us. Either the policy or the motivation needs to change. Jimbo the Tubby talk contributions 10:19, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

New Spoiler Policy
Edit
I have created a new spolier/promotional material policy that I feel correctly addreses the issues at hand: titles, ignored discussions, and the fact that our motivation is contradictory to our policy. The policy is in two parts. The first part deals with spoilers and can be found here. The second part deals with promotional material and may be found here. I would like you to weigh in so improvements may be made before I submit it to be an official policy. Thanks! cgmv123TalkContribsE-mail 17:21, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Fan Fiction Contest
Edit
During the hiatus the theme has been fan appreciation. And I thought what better way than to have a fan fiction contest. And what better place to have it then on lostpedia! There would be rules and challenges each week or two. We would write 18 episodes each has to be with in the same story arc Ben can't die one episode and then come back to life the next one. I really need an admin to support me on this idea and all the feed back I have gotten is positive. Please help! --BenKilledDharma 00:29, 23 August 2009 (UTC) mrb0605@gmail.com
