On my computer at least, it showed one image with a black border, with no option of viewing other images. Hi

I noticed User:Robert_h is still making edits and not signing them, even after you told him not to on his talk page. I don't mean to pick on the guy but all he does is post messages on talk pages in poor English and his theories are completely nonsensical anyway.. Integrated (User / Talk) 05:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I had a rather long discussion with him on the station explorers talk page. Every time I went to reply to one of his messages he would add another one, meaning my edit was an edit conflict and I had to retype my reply several times. It got quite frustrating.--Baker1000 13:15, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Robert, the newest episode article page is doing what last week's was with deleting previous edits when a new change is made. For example, I edited only the UQ section, removing an invalid one, and it deleted blocks of text from the previous edit that I never touched (twice!). I reversed my changes, but the problem is happening to others as well. I don't remember how that was resolved (lock/unlock?) but someone fixed it last week. Thanks. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 04:10, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

LaFleur

The page for LaFleur has 5x07 instead of 5x08 in the article, can you correct it to the right episode title? --Gluphokquen Gunih 04:23, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I tried adding the following to http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/LaFleur/Theories#Ben_Linus but somebody keeps deleting:

"Ben isn't on the island yet. Sawyer and co. have been there for 3 years now and if Ben was there, it would have been shown in this episode itself just like how we see Charlotte and Daniel recognizing her. The submarine is on the island and Charlotte will be leaving on it and we'll see Daniel asking her not to return. She will be leaving because while Charlotte was on the island in the present, she did not know Ben and vice versa. This is because they had never met when they were little. After the submarine leaves, it will return back with Ben. And when the losties had crashed, Ben already knew Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer and that's because he had met them when he had arrived on the island."

Can I please know why?--Naifamoodi 04:38, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Edit problems

Greetings--

No, not right now but during those mad rushes in the first 24 hours after an airing. Is there any chance that users are simply blowing away their own edits? They make a change, click on the save button, get the warning that there has been a conflicting edit, and, without actually reading the warning, click on the save button again. (I realize I may have "discovered" something that you guys already knew.) Can the "Under Construction" template carry a warning? Just an idea.

Rename for "Susie"

Hey there Robert. So I made a page for the Santa Rosa nurse in "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" (see Susie (nurse)) But shortly after, I was informed by Sam McPherson that she already exists under a different name, Nurse Lazenby. SO. A merge would be the best thing/deletion of Susie (nurse) and have that info moved to the older existing article. ALSO, rename "Nurse Lazenby" to "Susie Lazenby" (I don't think the Nurse will be necessary now that she has a first name. Go on and check out both talk pages for both articles. Valid considerations

Hey Robert,

This afternoon Hugo815 sent me a message linking to the talk page about "The Temple" and I was able to read in to some of the conflicting information that seems to be going around. Obviously, my change to the Temple page was premature, though I tried to preserve all the information that was there, and thought I was referencing reliable sources. Clearly, my first mistake was trusting the work that some others had done without deeper investigation. Secondly, I am very new to Lostpedia, and didn't even know that "talk" pages existed. If I had, I would have seen the debate was already raging. Ah, learning experiences. I totally support the decision to revert the page back to its prior state. That said, I did want to let you know that I deleted the discussion you started in the Temple Talk page. Reverting the page back to its prior state is all that is needed in this case. I don't need any public flagellation for a mistake that, looking at the discussion on the talk page and the revision history, has been made a number of times. On the other hand, I am very excited to use this forum to discuss the evidence that does exist, and, where appropriate, to fit together the puzzle pieces that the Lost writers and producers so adeptly leave for us. Hope that all makes sense,

LaFleur Transcript

So...if you see there's something on the page, why do you overwrite it? Looking at the history, I see that you not only replace my work once, but that you did it twice! I didn't notice your first replacement as whenever I edit, I look to see what the page looks like. I check to see if I am going to be overwriting anything. You even had the audacity to put "Robert K S is responsible for this transcript" - it is a community wiki. None of the other pages shout out who created them. You didn't even create it though. If you bring up the page, and you see something is there, why edit it? And if it is an edit done while you are editing, it warns you, so why hit submit? You still refer to 5x02 as a "fiasco", but you're the one creating the fiasco. "I don't like hitting submit and seeing that I'm overwriting/duplicating work" - hit cancel then!

What was wrong with my transcript that warranted it being completely replaced? Stlgirl 13:50, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Isn't it also against spoiler policy to post spoilers on talk pages? Doesn't what you just posted qualify EXACTLY AS THAT? I now know that [spoiler removed] is going to be a featured character, something I DEFINITELY did not want to know. Integrated (User / Talk) 09:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

RE:See Also Sections...

transcript credits

Because the transcript credits are "taking personal ownership" I'm trying to work the statement the other way around. ie. Including a clause that the original transcripts up until XXX episode are based on the original work of this person (used with permission), which have then been edited by us, and anything after that is the work of the Lostpedia Community. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  17:10, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't have a problem with that in theory, but it's smart to propose big changes that affect many articles before going through and making changes. Robert K S (talk) 17:13, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I understand that, but the bigger issue is the personal ownership, which we all know is a no-no, as it puts others off editing, and gives credit to some peoples work, where others haven't gotten any. Its not a discussion issue as the personal ownership caveat is already in place. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  17:17, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Looks fine Rob. I just want to clear it up a little and make it seem less imposing for users who see "XXX is responsible for this transcript", which might put people off editing a transcript. Even the earlier ones provided by Spooky, which we can edit and correct still if needs be. I'm pretty sure there is a Wikia plugin available if we decide we do want to put (at the bottom of the page) a list of all the people who have edited the page. That'd let us do it automatically also, rather than manually updating any lists. Obviously that kind of thing is definitely a discussion point! -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  17:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Attempt

  • Just for the record, I had an idea that there might be an extraneous character on LaFleur/Theories so, I copied the text of LaFleur/Theories to file on my machine, completely emptied the page, saved it, pasted everything back in, and saved it again. It was an idea; it didn't do any good.
  • Would it help more if a sysop saved the text, deleted the four (or more?) pages then re-created the pages and pasted guaranteed raw text back in?
--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 18:37, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Sorry, by now,I thought it was a legend of the western world. Clicking on an email link to LaFleur/Theories with differences showing brings up the page with notations like "150 intermediate changes not shown." Moving to the "previous change" then stepping back up to the newest will display few than ten. Attempting to edit the page from the top routinely results in a note that one is not editing the current version. There's a lot of different things that can cause problems. I was shooting for a spurious, non-ascii, character. (I once had a co-worker who embedded a "bell" (Ctrl-G) in a file name in unix; everytime one of us listed the files the bell on the terminal rang.) The next option, to me, would be to delete the file (page) and hope that it would get written to a different portion of the disk when re-created. We can't fix Wikia, but we (actually, you guys) can try work-arounds.
--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 19:28, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Eloise Hawking appears to be displaying those same "cannibalistic feeding frenzy" characteristics. If you get time you might want to try deleting the page. Hey, if it worked once...--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 13:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Spoiler

I overwrote a spoiler image yesterday here which was uploaded by User:108JohnLocke, and told him it was against policy on his talk page (I also had to restore that information when he deleted the talk page text). Today, another spoiler image on the same theme had to be overwritten which was uploaded by User:Sleon70, whose only contributions have been spoiler images, and which referenced yesterday's spoiler image. It was also posted on the image page where the correct image is located. Can you please look into this, thanks? Damn spoilers. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 07:13, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Spoiler image also uploaded by User:Rocketcraft, but reverted. Also needs to be taken care of, thanks. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 07:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
I meant however was appropriate, warning or banning. If it's a new user, then I agree that pointing out strongly they are violating the SP is the first step. If they were previously banned and this is a new user name, or if they have been around a long time, that's up to you, but I think they should be at least temp banned. I only sent it to you because I did say something to 108JohnLocke, but it's really not my place as I'm not a Sysop. Just someone who really hates coming across spoilers, and tried to cover them so no one else got spoiled. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 08:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Amy's baby

Hi, LaFleur/Theories#Amy's baby is turning into a knock-down, drag-out battle. Vandalism/Rudeness

I just thought that I would give someone a heads up that the user Faraday100 has made several rude and imposing edits to several main articles. All have been deleted/reverted by various persons, but the problem keeps occurring. Certain of their edits would be appropriate if discussed on talk pages, however as you will see, the nature of their edits are clearly inappropriate and would be considered vandalism. talk pages

Hi Robert, I've noticed you've been editing my talk page messages and removing line breaks. I don't know if there's a specific policy for this on Lostpedia, but the general consensus on wikis is you don't edit other peoples messages, even though the software gives you that option. When the text is long and requires it, I use a few paragraphs instead of one, and sign at the end. I don't know why you guys limit yourself to one block of text, I find it much more readable, and it's still clear who wrote the message. I reverted your latest edit of my message. about Korean transcript

Hi, Robert. I wanna thank you for bringing me here again. I just finished 505's Korean transcripts. I don't know whether you are charge of transcripts of not, but I wanna know if I have to change the Korean line format like French line format: for example,

i) MONTAND: Allez, j'sais par où passer. [Subtitle: Come on. I know which way to go.]
ii) SUN: [Speaking Korean] [Subtitle: I'll be there soon. I love you, sweetie. Good-bye.] [:엄마 빨리 갈게. 그래, 사랑해. 안녕.]

I think it would be much easier to read when the lines are short... If I have to, I could edit them.

Besides, I don't know how to write it down when there's no subtitles for Korean lines such as,

iii) JIN: [Speaking Korean at Sawyer, frustratedly] [:무슨 말을 하는지 도대체 모르겠어.] [Then, in English, to Charlotte] Translate. Please, translate.
iv) JIN: [Speaking Korean to Charlotte] [:선이 이 섬에 없다는 것을 로크가 어떻게 알아?]

I just write down the Korean lines but should there be some translation with them? I hope you could give me some pieces of advice. Thanks in advance. --Foxysmile 14:43, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Robert! Thanks for your message. I actually have no idea if I'm doing this correctly. I hang out on alt.tv.lost, but Lostpedia has always been a great resource for me. (Psssst! My theory: They're all stars. This is a giant myth. :) )

Tdciago 12:11, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

    • Yup, in the astral sense. As in, Vincent is Sirius, Locke is Orion (or a star within the constellation), etc. You can guess what the polar bears are. I don't know if you're familiar with "Hamlet's Mill," but there are a whole bunch of clues in the show pointing to the axis mundi and the North celestial pole and precession. As Damon Lindelof said, it will all end just outside the Crab Nebula, geographically. The Swan implosion points to a core-collapse supernova. Hey, if you're raising a baby star, you'd sing "Catch a Falling Star" to it and feed it "fully hydrogenated" cookies.  :)

Inspired by the "everlasting life" symbol on the Dharma Lady image, and the Official Lost Podcast transcript/February 5, 2009 where the producers said, "we’re setting up a resurrection theme...", I think that the resurrection page should be added to the Themes Portal. For the record, I'm of the opinion that it is Frank-centric, since the flashback starred him and most of the 2008 scenes focused on him with a similar relevance to Desmond in Jughead and Hurley in The Lie. There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3

I didn't even see the talk page discussion until just now when you messaged me. I made the change based on this information. And Robert, I didn't edit war. The begining of that page still said it was two episodes when I edited it (85 & 86) and I noticed the removal of 14th from two places (I didn't check who actually removed it) while the text remained. I was replacing them and left the message because I thought a n00b had deleted what a mod put there. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 17:58, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for that clarification. I can see your point. But I do think that we need to fix one hour=one episode (I've joined the discussion on the talk page, now, so no need to hash it here) to avoid confusion. The two episodes you mentioned are case in point. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 18:16, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
"Not yet, you'll know when this is unleashed from the sandbox" LOL. Sorry. I know better than to post when I'm tired. Episode numbering

Good work on that page. We should probably leave it up until we've got a good number of votes. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:19, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

  • We should probably go by just an overall consensus/majority. If it is too close to call, perhaps more discussion on the forums is needed. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:23, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I have a feeling "more discussion" isn't going to settle the issue. We should agree on the criteria before beginning the vote. For example, we should say that if it is 50/50 to within +/- 5%, or +/- 10%, or whatever, then the status quo is maintained.  Robert K S   tell me  20:26, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • Alright. I would think that +/- 10% (approxiamately) would be good, unless you feel differently. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:28, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I have stated in some of the other discussions that "Exodus, Part 2" would not need to be split into "Exodus, Part 2" and "Exodus, Part 3". The reason for this is because ABC (the website, episode player, and DVDs) have never referred to the episode "Exodus, Part 3" (unlike the other finales; LTDA, TTLG, and TNPLH). Therefore, "Exodus, Part 2" would be the one exception to the policy change, and there would be ONE episode page for it, but it counts as TWO episodes. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:36, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I was thinking about that for a while - it's more complicated because ABC doesn't refer to that episode title directly, but still counts "Exodus, Part 2" as two episodes. So on second thought, I suppose we would need to split it into "Exodus, Part 2" and "Exodus, Part 3" in order to be in conformity with the 100th episode. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:40, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • My initial thought was to rename the finale pages to Live Together, Die Alone, Parts 1 & 2, Through the Looking Glass, Parts 1 & 2 etc., and have the ep templates read their respective parts (for example, {{ep|2x23}} would be "Live Together, Die Alone, Part 1" and {{ep|2x24}} would be "Live Together, Die Alone, Part 2" but they would all link to the same finale pages. However, on second thought, this would probably create confusion and technical issues, which leaves us with two solutions: (1) leave the articles as they are; (2) split them into separate pages. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:55, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
  • What will this mean for the thousands of ep and crossref tags all over the wiki? For example, there are something like 7000+ episode tags of one fashion or another on Jack's article. Will this renumbering mean all the articles will need the eps and crossrefs redone because they will point to the wrong episode? Or will this change them automatically? Upon reflection, I'm thinking this is going to cause more problems than it fixes. Is there not an easier way? Say to fix infoboxes to allow for the possiblity of multiple episode references? ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 09:52, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Alright man my bad i didnt know Ill chill. --Czygan84 22:21, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
  • To be honest I would probably vote for a staus quo because my main thing with this is I want the characters to have the correct number of episodes appeared in and for the site to keep in line with ABCs thinking. Although i originally wanted a split I thought the pages looked wierd when they were split a while back. A small suggestion I would have is maybee make a third option because as I have participated in this disscusion i noticed a lot of votes for a simple rename and leave the articles as one. But left as is is fine to. For me Ive gone back and forth on this whole topic many times, theres good argumentsfor both sides . thanks for the preview. --Czygan84 22:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

RE:Ambiguous article titles

I can see your point. It isn't really a big deal to me. One reason, though, I like to rename articles so they contain an episode title is because it's consistent, and also easy to identify. Someone may say "Skeletons"... what skeletons? The ones from "Further Instructions". Episodes are a great way to identify objects/items/events in article titles; I see your point though, and if you want to rename it, I'd be fine with that. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 02:00, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Could we please have a SysOp step in on the discussion at Talk:He's Our You#POLL : Flaming Bus. User:Benjamin Linus continues to readd the question without answering the many reasons multiple users have given as to why it should be excluded, all the while accusing other users of vandalism and trolling for removing it. A couple of people (myself included) have left messages on his talk page and been met with nothing but hostility. I hate to ask this because I think it's always best for users to come to a consensus on their own, but that only works when everyone cooperates. Single-digit episode numbers in infobox

Hey Robert. I noticed that your changing of some of the episode numbers in the infoboxes to take out the "0" and make them single digits messed up the number sorting in Category:Episodes. I agree that the single digit looks better, but if we do that, I think we should find a solution to keep the sorting sorted out (maybe there's a solution to be worked out in Template:Infobox Episode, but I wouldn't know how to do it). So for now at least, I've changed back the ones that were messed up, but somehow "This Place Is Death" is still sorting incorrectly. -- Graft   talk   contributions  00:54, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed that you had attempted to account for the single digits in the template. I wouldn't know how to fix that, but I notice User:Pyramidhead has done some tinkering since. As far as "This Place Is Death", I couldn't find anything in that looked suspicious, in the categories or infobox. -- Graft   talk   contributions  01:36, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, I think so (that's how Template:Infobox Episode is supposed to work), but I didn't design it, and I have no preference. It seems to me that if you want to see the episodes sorted in order, you go to the nav template.  Robert K S   tell me  02:52, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
It had never occurred to me until someone cited a non-existent category called Category:The War. I added text to the category, then added the category to "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham," because Widmore had announced, "There's a war coming." I don't spend a lot of time on the category pages; it just struck me as a little odd. Bottom line, I guess, is "No Pref."--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 03:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

RE:Template:Infobox

I removed the 0 because there was a glitch. All of the episodes image links had an extra zero (for example, the "White Rabbit" page linked to Category:Images from 1x005 instead of Category:Images from 1x05). The zero has to be removed otherwise some pages linked to the wrong image categories. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 02:26, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay, do you have any more ideas of what we can do to fix it definitively? Perhaps there needs to be a separate template made for episodes that contain a "0" (like 1x05, 3x06, etc.)? -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 23:23, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Image deletion

I saw you deleted five of my images regarding various episodes.
What the hell?
Now, besides the obvious ridiculousness of actually creating new image pages instead of updating the already-existing pictures, have you even checked about where said pics were before deleting them? You deleting without any warning 5 pictures out of nowhere for no really valid reason (again, there is this little button called "Upload a new version of this file"), means you screwed up several pages that had these images. You haven't even replaced said pictures with the new ones!
Way to go sysop. - TheAma1 09:52, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

  • The above message was me getting annoyed at mistakes that should have been avoided, which is I believe understandable given the fact that not checking where pictures are linked from before deleting them is kind of an obvious task. Going back to the pictures: I was saying "my" pictures because they were uploaded by me originally. Obviously, I know they do not belong to me per se but it was better than saying a vague "some pictures". My "LOL" comment was mainly due to the fact that basically one picture was replaced by virtually an identical one, and even if there was an improvement regarding quality, then the new version should have been uploaded to said original picture. At worst, the duplicate should have been deleted, if only because there seem to be no real difference, and yet again it was a duplicate. Then a message on the user's talk page should have been left. I did not even delete the copycats, I simply reverted the edits. Sure, I was wrong for not leaving a message on the user's page, but you are as well at fault, if not worse, for actually deleting the original pictures without leaving any "handy note". And if ever there was a noticeable difference, then the user would have bothered to "upgrade" the file. Given that you cannot assume what I would or what I would not have done based on one quick edit comment! Your behavior in this is as objectionnable as mine, if not more given your sysop role. - TheAma1 16:54, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
    • I don't mean to barge in, but the said images weren't uploaded as new versions of the existing files because they were of a different format. The new images were .png files, while the ones Ama uploaded were .jpg. Hope this helps. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  03:58, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

The preview for "Follow the Leader" shows a new chamber (I would guess within The Temple) that has additional hieroglyphs. As such, it is likely that we're going to need to make new pages to deal with the new hieroglyphs. I was about to go start some discussion about how we should deal with the new glyphs on the Talk:The Temple hieroglyphs when I realized that the information from the preview might be considered spoiler information since it is from an episode that hasn't aired yet. Sorry, but the template makes the assumption that anybody who isn't signing their messages is someone who is a fairly new contributor and hasn't figured things out yet. The template is worded in the friendliest possible terms to avoid insult, but, what can I say, we are getting a LOT of unsigned messages just now despite the big red banner at the top of every talk page edit box, so, IMNSHO, there are a lot of users who could use a good kick-in-the-pants reminder about talk page etiquette.  Robert K S   tell me  22:27, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: Enemy Discussion

Thanks for the clarification. I simply saw that my edit was gone, had not been moved anywhere more appropriate, and it wasn't clear to me why or by whom. Not my intention to butt heads, it's just my first time posting and I figured if I put it back I'd get a clear explanation. I don't plan to make a habit of it. Thanks again.--AllanJack 16:15, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Revisiting episode titles ban + Old spoilers discussion

Hello. So, a while back, there was a decision made to ban all episode titles from the wiki with the exception of the immediately upcoming title. As far as I can tell, this decision was made in the topic Lostpedia talk:Spoiler Policy/Archive 02#Titles are spoilers! (redux) and was made because there was no way to create a collapsible Nav template for the episodes. As you may have seen, users were recently able to create such a template. As such, the original justification no longer applies, so I've reoppened the discussion here. If it's not too much trouble, I would like to get all the SysOps to weigh in on this publicly, as I feel previous spoiler policy discussions have been ignored and/or avoided by SysOps from time to time (particularly [[this one where there was a user consensus to set aside a page for officially released content from the producers, similar to the old "/Spoilers" pages, but used only for official content, which was never heard about again, despite a 100% consensus in the discussion.) At any rate, it would be great to have you all weigh in since I think this is an extremely important issue for Lostpedia that we have resolved, given the original reasoning behind it. Thanks.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:51, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Jacob's Nemesis Response

I noticed you removed the topic "This is all theory" on Jacob's Nemesis page. The point of the thread which you obviously missed was to challenge the sasertions made in the artile not to talk about a theory. I'm willing to remove the subheading comparing the conclusions made in the article to another possibility but the rest of the article should remain. Thanks.Mister vijay 17:53, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Jacob's Nemesis Response

Since I wasn't responding to a theory on the Jacob's Nemesis Theories page but on the article itself the rules of this website would indicate that the thread is in the appropriate place. Furthermore, the theory policy states that threads can be removed if they are responding to another theory and not presenting a cohesive independent theory. The purpose of posting these points and references was not to propose a theory that explains anything bur rather to respond to and provide counter evidence for the assertions that are claimed in the article itself. Although I did not use a direct quote from the article in a few of the subsections, I did address 10 assertions made in the article and questioned the story and character logic as well as referencing some dialogue from various episodes. Finally, in my comments I continue to assert that I am interested only in what's proven and not theories or wild speculation.Mister vijay 02:51, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the talk page Jacob's Nemesis

I clicked on the link you provided to the talk page on Jacob's nemesis and scanned the theories on the Jacob's Nemesis page to see what I had to offer especially since Paul (who I think is an administrator?) also writes that I should move some of my points to the talk page of the theory page. I'm sorry but I looked at the theories of Jacob's Nemesis and they are so far fetched in my mind that to sit down and spend time providing counter evidence to theories that themselves provide little to no evidence to give them any grounding would, in my mind, needlessly antagonize members and make me the "bad guy" who wants to kill everyone's fun. I would redirect my attention to other matters in the show but many pages have been updated with reference to the assertions made here and other forums and message board on other sites have also followed this line and refuse to take my comments seriously. Due to the fact that there's 10 months until the final season I have decided to keep my opinions to myself from now on and limit my verbal objections until the producers or future episodes made a clear statement on this issue. Thanks.Mister vijay 03:48, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Finally, I'm new to Lostpedia

I wanted to note that I am actually quite a new member and am just getting used to some of the norms of this format. I was just knee jerk responding to things members were saying on the talk page and over the course of time I began to formulate my thoughts more cohesively. Next time I'll try to think out what I'm saying before I post so I can present it in a clearer fashion. Thanks.Mister vijay 04:01, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:4 toes

I simply felt that the characteristic of having four-toes is no longer as prevalent now that we've seen the entire statue as it was when we had only seen the foot. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  18:24, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

CardGames

So yeah someone deleted my talk page comments cause I guess I made them mad. And last time I checked you banned people for vandalizing user pages. As Ive had two friends and Ive seen other users banned for less. So I think in all fairness u should ban him, like you did to others who didn't even get a chance to plead there case. If not it shows Favoritism in which it seems like happens a lot around here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MainCharacterRose (talkcontribs) .

Re: Evangelism

That statement is in no way evangelism. It is a fact. Saying that the claims of Jesus are fact, would be evangelism. Saying the Bible is reliable is not. You post thoughts saying it's not true, pushing your anti-biblical agenda, so how are you any different? You do not have to believe the claims made in it, to very it's canonicty. Put up against any other historical book, it shatters every criteria used to judge reliability. Historians who choose not to believe it's claims, still count it as historically accurate. I am a Christian and very proud of it. I have never used LP for evangelism, and don't plan to. This is the 1st time I've even spoke of it. You are the one who attacked the book of Genesis' historical validity. I will always defend Christianity, or the Bible when false statements are made about it. That is not pushing an agenda, it is standing up for truth.  NEVERGIVEUP  Contribs  Talk  02:07, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

For the benefit of all of us, please cite the Lostpedia policy that authorizes your action. Thanks.--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 16:00, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

The edit warring of JamesyWamesy on Jacob's tapestry on 2009-05-09 was a violation of LP:OWN. As the Netiquette and basic courtesy section of the General usage guide states, "It is very important not to take any editing of articles personally". Lostpedia is the place to have fun creating an encyclopedia about Lost; editor action that is motivated instead by "standing up for truth", religious or otherwise, is counterpurpose to the encyclopedia. There are people of all sorts of beliefs on the encyclopedia, but those beliefs shouldn't be relevant to how we use the encyclopedia, and the encyclopedia isn't a "free speech zone" or "speaker's corner" to be used for the debating of religion, the validity of religious texts, etc. Admins are trusted with the broad authority to end such debates quickly. You should also note that there are a lot of empty spaces in the policy left up to the discretion of admins. In my own opinion the text of articles should be accommodating, where they can, to the sensistivities of others (though such is certainly not a requirement, since for every statement there is bound to be a person who takes offense to it), but neither the article space nor the talk space may be used for apologetics. I would hope that if you were made an admin, you would be able to take the same tack.  Robert K S   tell me  17:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:Tapestry hieroglyphs

I wish I had seen that image; it would have made my job over the prior days much easier. I am working right now with User:kansasgal71 to try to get these transcribed and translated. It will probably be a week or two before we really get accurate translations. Unfortunately it seems that the producers decided that the hieroglyphs shown in the first instances were too easy. What we definitely know so far (and what I can easily add to the hieroglyph subsection, is that most of the hieroglyphs also appear on the Cerberus chamber pillars, and that the Egyptian seasons are listed at the bottom of the tapestry. I am going to see if there are any huge clues in the image you showed me, and then I'll happily add what I can to that page. Thanks for the tip! £乚ב○艹Ю Zholmboe Talk 15:37, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Debate resolution

Heya. I've been having an ongoing (but pleasantly civil) discussion with User:Dr. James about a particular unanswered question here. After a couple weeks of debate, neither of us have really gotten anywhere convincing the other and nobody else has chimed in. We both agreed that it would be best ask a SysOp to weigh in on the debate before it goes on any further (not that it's gotten out of hand or anything, it's just been going on longer than either of us care to continue it). The question at hand and our arguments are all spelled out there so I won't bother repeating them here. Thanks for any help you can provide. :)  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:45, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you change the section header to something like "Signing Talk Page Edits", or "Signing discussions" or something along those lines? I think putting a "welcome to lostpedia" section on the page of a user who is by no means "new" is inappropriate, and mildly insulting. New Spoiler Policy

I have created a new spolier/promotional material policy that I feel correctly addreses the issues at hand: titles, ignored discussions, and the fact that our motivation is contradictory to our policy. The policy is in two parts. The first part deals with spoilers and can be found here. The second part deals with promotional material and may be found here. I would like you to weigh in so improvements may be made before I submit it to be an official policy. Thanks! cgmv123TalkContribsNew Spoiler Policy! 17:11, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
