- Where does it say that Ben travelled 10 months into the future? I've seen the episode twice now and it's never stated. Please don't delete my theory for no reason. User:Benjamin Linus
- Ben turned the frozen wheel on December 30th, 2004. He then appeared in Tunisia, with his wound from the wheel chamber still fresh and wearing the Halliwax jacket. When he reached the hotel, he asked for the date, which was October 24th. He had to clarify that the year was 2005, as he was not certain. That is how the 10 month time lapse for Ben was calculated and firmly established. -User:DesmondFaraday
Science and faith in Lost
Edit
I think the comments you left on my blog post about science and faith reveal some good ideas. I'll come right out and say I'm an agnostic/atheist/non-believer, so when I talk about ideas of faith I probably have a residue of condescension to me.
But I think you're correct in saying the writers and the show do not look at it this way. The show has thus far put science and faith on equal footing, allowing for each to be a possible explanation for what's transpired on the Island. Jack and Locke represent these two sides quite well, and my hunch is they'll come to replace each other by the show's end, in a yin and yang sort of way.Dpetley 15:05, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- As a seminarian in a very theologically conservative church body, I would naturally prefer and optimistically anticipate many of the virtues which we hold in highest regard be reflected in the underlying themes of the show. However, because I am in training for the ministry, I have also had to study various world religions.
- Thus, as much as I would like to feel vindicated by episodes such as 316 last week, with explicit Biblical references and a more distinctly Christian feel to it, I am obviously aware of the prevalence of eastern religions and thought in the show.
- That said, I hope greatly that the balance of Yin and Yang is not demonstrated in favor of a providential victory for the side of good. Yet only time will tell which worldview is more closely reflected by the statement of the series as a whole makes when it is finally finished.
