Copying and pasting info Edit

Hi. I noticed that last week you added new info from "What Kate Does" to Kate's article. This is great, but then I noticed that you basically just copied it from the episode article, pasted it onto the character article, and then changed the tense a little. You did this here for the on-island section. You also did it here for the flash-sideways timeline info. I was going to ignore it and edit it until I saw you do it again with info from this weeks episode "The Substitute." Here for the on-island section for Locke, and then again here on the parallel timeline with info from "LA X, Parts 1 & 2" and "The Substitute." While it is appreciated that you are updating character pages with the latest episode, this is very lazy and sloppy editing. You're probably new here, I don't know, but that's not usually how we do it. We try to make the info on the character articles more brief than the episode page, maybe one or two paragraphs. I know it can't be helped that the same info may be presented in a similar way, but you have just copied all of it. Imagine if every newspaper reporting on the same story all printed the exact same thing, word for word. It would be pretty boring, right? I don't mean to discourage you from editing, but please just try to make it more brief and reword it a little. If you want, you can do this on those two articles, if not then I will. Again, by all means add info to the article (and don't forget that we also have X character articles to update...) but don't just copy every paragraph and change the tense, it looks lazy. Sorry if it sounded like an attack, I was just pointing out that it's not the done thing to just copy and paste (to my knowledge) but even if others do find it okay, it's still too long for a character page. I understand wanting to update the articles quickly, and it's good that you do that, but please take the time to improve at a later date if you can. :) I kind of guessed you were on the anti-X split side though. I personally think splitting is necessary, and that repeating the same info on the main character page is pointless. Perhaps a brief summary and a link to the other article would be best. But there you go, you have your opinion, I have mine, we'll just have to see what the mods decide is best. Again, sorry if it sounded like an attack, it wasn't, I was just letting you know how I feel about pasting it straight from the episode article. :)--Baker1000 17:41, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
