Hey, everyone; these are STRICTLY THEORIES.
Alright, so I've been wondering about Desmond a lot lately. He was normal, himself, and when he woke up from the flash-sideways, he was suddenly all calm and crap. But I didn't think anything of it ... until I saw more of his demeanor. He's all "what's the point in being afraid" and "hi, Monster Locke, you're my friend; of course you didn't bring me to a giant well to throw me in, that would be too predictable. Oh, my mistake, you actually did throw me in."
I have no problem with all this ... under two conditions: Answer the question as to why Des is all passive now---could it be connected to why Sayid shows no emotion? And someone please, please, PLEASE get him out of that well.
As for his mission---and I've said this somewhere before---he obviously knows a connection between the two time lines. I don't know how much he knows, but he does. So, having the manifest from Flight 815, he's "showing" them something, though I don't know what. It could be the whole deal with "remembering everything by love at first sight," which sounds like a plan. And I love Des, but why did he do what he did to the Sideways Locke? I know he had a logical explanation, I just need to know what. As for his conversation with Hugo, that was very inspirational.
Well, at least we got the "whispers" question answered, though I didn't really care and it was sort of obvious on its own. Oh, well. Still good to know.
I know I'm kind of rambling, here, but at least get what I'm trying to say: SHOW US WHY DESMOND IS SPECIAL AND WHAT THE FRIG HE'S DOING IN THE SIDEWAYS. Thanks.
Oh, yeah, by the way, at the end ... that new "Jack face." ... That was priceless.
