The Island is Eden AND Atlantis!
Okay work with me here, I don't have too much backup for this theory, but there are strong similarities between our Island and the island of Cyprus. Cyprus is considered to be the modern day Garden Of Eden on the surface and Atlantis below water. Also, and area of Cyprus was known to have strong FERTILITY worship. Another thing present on both Cyprus and our Island are Greek ruins which we see so much of in LOST.
Maybe I'm looking too deep into this, but I find it rather interesting!
