Has anyone considered that in some way Otherman manipulated or attempted to manipulate Widmore and this is the reason that Widmore was banished. There is no evidence that Widmore himself saw or met Jacob. In fact, the episode where Richard told Widmore that Jacob wanted Ben to be healed evidences that Widmore could not speak with Jacob, and much like Ben, he relied on Richard to act as a go between. If this is true, wouldn't Otherman attempt to manipulate Widmore as he manipulated Ben? If Ben can act as the "loophole" why wouldn't Widmore be able to act as the "loophole"?

From the early exchange between Otherman and Jacob, it was obvious that Otherman wanted to kill him and one can assume he would kill Jacob at the first opportunity. Do you think that Otherman manipulated Widmore into orchestrating the purge and was subsequently banished since Jacob recognized Widmore to be a threat?
