This is a blog post I call "Really, Lost?" by OA 815. I had high expectations for Across the Sea. I thought this was an episode in which the writers really could have shown their creativity. They could have tied together many loose ends. Instead, during the show, I just kept aking myself the same question . . . Really?
Here are just a few things that got me asking Really? Please add to it as you see fit.
Really, a cave with a bright light white holding the secrets we've been waiting for years? Is that the best you could come up with? Really? A cave with a light?
Really, Adam and Eve are two characters not introduced until late in the series, yet they are proof that you've had it all planned out from season 1. Really?

1) MIB is Locke. Desmond is correct. He knows more than everyone else. This may be why MIB pushed him into the well. He may not be the Locke from the OT, but may be from the ALT or some other type of ALT timeline. Maybe he took over MIB's job. Maybe the Locke that travelled off the island was not Locke. Locke may have been a candidate to replace MIB. I don't know the specifics, but I am willing to bet that Locke is now MIB. The original MIB is gone (or was Locke) all along.
2) Richard, Ben, and/or Miles will die. They split off from the group for a reason. Notice how there are no candidates in that group. Miles is there so that he can convey one of their dying thoughts. Then he will probably die.
3) The MIB group or some of them…Read more >
I can't believe it took me so long to figure this out. Most people think that MIB is Locke because Locke is dead on the island. I think he may be Locke because Locke is a common component of everybody's memory. Therefore, he can manifest himself as Locke to all of the people on the island. That is also why they needed to do all this time travel with Locke so that he would meed all of the common players (e.g., Widmore, Hawking, etc). That is also why the writers also made Christian a memory of Claire and Sawyer.Read more >
Way back when Ben was a young boy, he saw his mother on the other side of the sonic fence. She appeared to be an Other. It appears that this tidbit has been forgotten. Are the others already dead. Maybe in order to be an other, you have to have already died. Maybe Ben did die when Sayid shot him. There is no other reason I can think of that she would be there.Read more >
When MIB returned to Sawyer after seeing the kid, Sawyer asked him what happened with the kid. MIB asked "what kid". I think that is not a minor point. What could be the significance of MIB forgetting or not acknowledging the kid?Read more >
