What time period will the Island have next?

We have seen the Island move back in time. Although we have seen the Island move forward in time, we have not witnessed a time past 2007 on the Island and 2008 off the Island. Can the effect of the Incident cause the Island to project time forward beyond the latest point in the story in 2007(2008)? Can the answers/solutions exist in the future, not in reliving the past (or present in some cases), as we have been allowed to believe?

interesting, if richard thinks he saw them all die but they went to the future (and richard is still in real time) he could have thought they died as they are no longer there.....interesting that through all the time travel its always backwards never forwards-beyond real time.(do you have to turn the wheel the opposite way ?)

But surely they DID go forwards in time. For example, they went from the fifties to the seventies. Or are you saying they can't go beyond the time when the wheel was turned? Even then, they have been to 2007 (after both Ben & Locke turned the wheel) : remember they were shot at by people we can only assume survived 316.

Slight spoiler alert!

According to a Matthew Fox interview, the two storylines intertwine about a third into the season. Therefore, they still must be in different time periods after the incident (unless they simply are on different parts of the island). Either way, they must do something to combine the two groups of characters. I think that they're meeting up in 1992, the year of the incident. It's the exact middle between 1977 and 2007. [ (1977+2007)/2 = 1992) ]

Here you go...the chosen ones (touched by Jacob, Kate, Sawyer, Jack, Jin, Sayid, Hurley) who are in 77 will be flashed/ teleported to 2004 purple sky event. This will allow for dead survivors to come back for season 6. Yes I said dead survivors. They can interact with themselves to try and undo or prevent the loophole that TMIB found. ANd eventually Jin will catch up with Sun.
Think about being able to rewatch with more than just a John Locke double. Loads of doubles running around.
That way the 07 time line that we have seen can be changed. So WHH in 07 may not really happen.
Is that confusing enough for everyone?

I think that Season 6 will start with the 1977 Losties being thrown way into the future (hence the change in the Logo contrast), and eventually getting themselves to catch up with the 2007 316'ers, who will live on the Island for 3 more years - and the series will end in 2010 with the real date of the series' finale.
