Based on the results of the 24-Hour POLL, there are some changes to our LOST Book Club/LBC for the month of September. The intention of these changes are to enhance your experience as an LBC participant. Thank You to everyone taking the time vote and help in making this decision.

The NEW LBC September Book Selection Process

The new process is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3

1. Based on the previous month's nomination and voting process, three books will be identified as the current month book discussion selections.
Selections will be posted by the 1st of each month.
2. You will then choose which and how many book discussion groups you will participate with for the month. It's up to you based on your comfort level and with no pressure. Discussion groups should be decided by the 3rd of each month.
3. Once discussion groups are formed, together you will decide when to begin your book discussion. Keep in mind all discussions need to be completed by the last day of the month, so you're ready for new discussions for the next month. Start dates should be determined by no later than the 5th of each month.

September book selections are listed below. A discussion thread is started for each book selection. Please reply to the book discussion thread you want to participate with for the month. Then each group will continue their discussion in the same book thread to determine their discussion start date.

September Book Selections

Carriebook DISCUSSION BEGINS - Monday, September 27th - LBC - Carrie by Stephen King

This book was previously selected for next week

Carrie is a horror novel written by Stephen King in 1974.

It is tells the story of Carrie White, a mousy misfit in her school, who is picked on mercilessly by classmates and ostracized for her eccentric background (her mother is a religious fanatic). Some of the students are punished, and one shows her sympathy, asking her boyfriend to take her to the prom instead, but some want revenge and hatch an evil plan to humiliate her. What none of the students realize is that Carrie has the power of telekinesis. When she gets mad, she transforms from an innocent girl into a rage-filled monster, making it a prom no one will forget.

OMAM DISCUSSION BEGINS - Monday, September 20th - LBC - Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

This book received the most votes for this month

Of Mice and Men is a novella written by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck and published in 1937.

It tells the tragic story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers during the Great Depression in California. Based on Steinbeck's own experiences as a bindlestiff in the 1920s (before the arrival of the Okies he would vividly describe in The Grapes of Wrath), the title is taken from Robert Burns's poem, To a Mouse, which read: "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley." (The best laid schemes of mice and men / Go oft awry.) Required reading in many high schools, Of Mice and Men has been a frequent target of censors for vulgarity and what some consider offensive language; consequently, it appears on the American Library Association's list of the Most Challenged Books of 21st Century.

200px-Wizard and Glass DISCUSSION BEGINS - Wednesday, September 15th - LBC - Wizard and Glass by Stephen King

This book is the next book for the group reading the Dark Tower series.

Wizard and Glass is the fourth book in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

This book is subtitled "REGARD." The novel was nominated for a Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 1998. The novel begins where The Waste Lands ended. The book continues after Jake, Eddie, Susannah and Roland ride Blaine the Mono for several hours.

Let's have fun with this and enjoy your discussions. If you have any ideas or suggestions please post your thoughts in the designated discussion thread indicated below.

Thanks and Happy Reading ~.~
