You know its taken me the whole week to come to terms with the loss of LOST, my initial dissappointment, my acceptance, back to dissappointment and now a little bit of an epiphany. I have fallen in and out of love with LOST each day since, trying to bring it all back together, trying to brinf significance to the five seasosn prior to this one. But it has kind of clicked now, and rather stupidly, its something that I didn't get. I'm sure thousands of people didn't get it either. But... when the losties go into the light at the end, it is obviously the light that exists on the island. So, their final resting place becomes the island after all. I think this is a very nice "loop" with which to end the show.

I have to say, the confusion and anger I felt this morning is lessening and lessening the more I read what the rest of you all think about "the End". during the day i have got more and more emotional about the "demise" of the characters, and in the end, I think Jack's death was handled well enough not to be called "scmaltz" which is a very american invention (sorry folks).
However, the way in which the mythology and legacy of the previous five seasons has been dropped so bluntly, is probably the real reason that LOST seems to have ended so unsatisfyingly. Without the Flash-Sideways, there is no story and no ending, and we get the Island being protected and the Light source being guarded, and thats it. With the vain hope that either Darlton or ABC or whoevere reads Lostpedia, I just wanted to ask the powers that be to allow an all-planet event to happen. You guys are getting the finale 5 days before us, as opposed to the normal 2 days in Ireland and 3 in the UK. I tend to watch the show online on a Wednesday, in normal definition on Irish TV on Thursday, and in HD on Friday on Sky TV which is when the UK losties get to watch it.
But it being the end, and with this being the biggest TV event in years, surely it makes sense to have some kind of parity? I'd watch LOST at 2am if it meant we were getting it at the same time.
