The future of Lost

Jimbo Wales April 3, 2010

I'm pretty sad that Lost is coming to an end. And I had an idea.

I know J. J. Abrams personally, not well, but I see him once a year. I would love to hand-deliver a massive petition to him, organized by Lostpedia, asking him to make Lost movies, or... well, why don't we vote on what to ask him, and then rally the entire Internet to ask him? Can't hurt, and could be fun. :)

  • I also like this idea, that LOST IN TIME came up with.

It would be awesome to know how they really had planned the monster in the beginning and how it changed during the seasons, for example. If they'd release a documentary DVD like that, I'd buy it, for sure. After I've completed my collection with the season 6 box, of course! :D

LOST FOREVER!!! (and season 3 was the best season BTW!)

  • LOST IN TIME 03:48, April 5, 2010 How about when it is over for him and the other writers\developers\producers to make a DVD that will give us a play by play of what everything meant, what they had in mind, and how they intended for it to play out and add to the story as it progressed all the way to the last episode of the final season.

@LOST IN TIME: LOVE this idea!

  • wow you take that back LOST IN TIME, season 6 is one of the best yet...sure it had a slow start but these past few weeks have more than made up for it...and it is certainly a vast improvement from the too sci-fi oriented fifth season ( which for me was the series low not season 3)

  • imagine Lost with an Expanded Universe like Star Wars

  • The only thing I'll request is a short, spin-off comic book series to explain some of the things that didn't have time on the show. And to focus on smaller, nerd-out characters.

  • To add to my special DVD features request:

    1. a bibliography of books which influenced and were displayed in Lost
    2. Storylines which were considered but not used and why
  • I'm with Destinedjourney on this one, a special release DVD would be the best way to go in my opinion. It would make alot of viewers like myself appreciate the series even more than we do now.

@Jimbo Wales - While some would like to see spin-offs, sequels, movies, etc. it would ruin a GREAT thing. I'd rather see a petition for something like what Destinedjourney has suggested. A novel would be a good thing too, if only written by Damon and Carlton along with the other writers from the show including a forward by J.J. Me personally would love to read a book entitled "LOST - The Novel" and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be alone.

    SPECIAL RELEASE DVD PLEASE!!!!

  • All I want is a special edition DVD set with lots of features in addition to the total series. Features like

    1. Voice overs of the writers talking through their thought process of the episode
    2. Q&A with the writers addressing the questions/explanations
    3. Leftover material that didn't make the show
    4. Back-stories that they had written but weren't explicitly told to us
    5. A chronological ordering of the episodes in terms of OT vs. FST
    6. Actors interviews telling their reasoning for how they played the character, what they knew when (esp. Ben and Locke's actors).

probably more I'd want but I would definitely pay to get all this in a special collection. PLEASE!

  • No but we don't want all the characters to be killed off, either. that would tie for the equal worst ending ever with that of alice in wonderland. no writer in their right mind would want this and neither would any viewer who is not a sociopath.

  • Everyone can I just remind you of the one thing they have told us. No spin-offs, no movies, the end won't allow it. They characters will be killed off, the story wrapped up, and we'd know all the answers to the mysteries. Do we really want a lame sequel?

  • It would be great to have a full length movie...it would be so much fun!

  • There is a Turkish TV show called "Valley of the Wolves" It started in 2003 and ended in 2005 and it was very good. Since fans liked it, they made a movie of it in 2006 called "Valley of the Wolves Iraq" That got popular too and was shown on Europe's theaters. Then they made another TV show called "Valley of the Wolves Ambush" and they are planning on making "Valley of the Wolves Palestine" in coming up fall. I'm saying this because there are TV shows that are being extended in this world and since Lost in the most popular in the world (not just USA) it should be extended.

  • I'd like to see a LOST: SYNCHRONISED where all the clips are played chronologically (as in when they happened in the world depicted in Lost) sometimes next to each other, starting from way back since Jacob and MIB meet on the beach and watch the Black Rock. With the year written in like the top right corner or something, it can skip forward when it needs to and make it super clear. There can be a separate clip for the alternate universe. Even if this was just an extra DVD you could buy it'd be awesome!

  • @MissFirean I never knew that. I only watched like four episodes of X-Files. I never got into it. Wow, I can't believe they thought that show would fly without the two main characters. That's like Bonanza without the Cartwrights.

  • NO, thanks.

I don't want more dummy LOST after the originally conceived story has been wrapped up at the finale of this season. It would be like when they decided to go on with the X-Files without Mulder and Scully. It sucked.

  • It will be "so long and thanks for all the fish" for me. No conventions, maybe some visits here. Just hoping to see some of the wonderful actors again.

  • as much as i love lost they need to end it fast

  • id personally like to see more episodes as a spin off, or even a movie. I think the idea of a DHARMA initiative movie would be great, we need more information to fill in all the gaps regarding the Hanso foundation and the DHARMA initiative, theres so many questions that i dont think we will get the answers. BTW, season 6 is still good!

  • He should go back and expand season 4 and 5. So many elements were rushed during them.

  • That's right Charles Kane.

  • Thanx Station7. Doesn't change much, it's not his show.

  • Charles Kane, he also worked on a Tale of Two Cities.

  • Just to add. When The Prisoner ended in the 60's, McGoohan was forced to leave the country because of the public outcry at the final episode, People felt cheated! It turned out to be an allegory and most people didn't understand it. McGoohan was delighted with the anger and arguments it incited. He felt he had done his job well and that was that. Over 40 years later people still discusss and argue over that show...and that was just 17 episodes. Let LOST end and then it will truly live on in the same way that The Prisoner has.

  • I disagree that season 6 is messed up. I also strongly think Lost should end at the end of this season. It is a complete work like a novel or Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner and should stand as such and be appreciated as such.

  • JJ Abrams directed the 2 pilots. That's it. Unlike Jack he then let go. He has written nothing of Lost. He recently said he had no idea what was going on in Lost and asked if someone could tell him (obviously no one could!).
