There seems to be more an dmore speculation about this topic. So I decided to take a look at the footage of Locke finding Horace's body and the map in the mass grave. Just to note, the body in the grave is wearing a overall with Horace Mathematician on it - the Horace that John sees (whether this be dream, apparition or even possibly Horace time travelling on the Island in the same manner Daniel, Sawyer, Juliet et al did at the beginning of the season - he does have a nose bleed and says that he died 12 year earlier!) anyway, the Horace that John sees is wearing a jumpsuit that does not have his name on it. When Ben and Jacob are speaking at the end Ben states that he has been a faithful servant and has done everything he has been told, following orders. One of these includes gathering the people on the infamous list. I understand from looking the "Lists" up on this site that there were reasons for Jack, Kate and Sawyer to be brought to the other camp (I think it details this as being so Jack can save Ben and Kate and Sawyer can persuade him). However, I'm sure the reasons were more advanced than this - if they had not been taken they would not have met Juliet who played such a crucial part in this season, in particular the relationships between the four (Juliet being the fourth) played such an important part in some of the decisions that wer…Read more >
I was so thrilled by the finale of season 5. The best finale yet in my opinion. As always, it leaves questions...
I am now compelled to watch all of the previous episodes with Smokey - I am so sure that he has been plotting - I keep thinking back to Eko and Shannon. Until tonight I had always thought that Smokey was judging for the best in a character but I now think that he was analysing for his own purpose and John Locke was the most impressionable target he found...someone who wanted a purpose and could be moulded into what was required. Smokey can take the form of the dead - only a leader can see Jacob, so Smokey (aka "Nemesis")worked his twisted web, using the form of Christian in order to sacrifice John for his requirements.
