We are also led to believe that Widmore wants to get back to the island and retain some kind of power there. Although we don't actually know what smoke monster means by he wants to go home, we can assume beyond any shadow of a doubt that that involves leaving the island. So, why would they be at conflict if smoke monster apparently wants to leave the island and Widmore wants to be at the island?
