Jack's fallacy

So I never really looked at Lostpedia after last season finale much, so I don't know if this was brought up around here at all, but most of my friends who watch the show thought this was silly of me, but:

If Jack blows up the hatch, and his idea does happen to work, and time and space just change and bend to allow them to just get on the plane and land in LA like nothing happened, then who exactly does he think is now going to go back in time to blow up the hatch? And if time and space exist in this continuous plane that can be hopped in and out of, then won't they just be in a weird never-ending cycle of island, no island, island, no island, over and over forever? Which I guess would just be kind of like hell, a repetitive eternity that makes you live and re-live the extremities of all your flaws?
