I know that several of you on this site have been participating in a discussion of previous LOST episodes. I haven't been back on this site since the series ended, but I also had the idea of looking back at the previous seasons of LOST from the perspective of someone who knows how everything turns out. I wanted to look at the trail of breadcrumbs the writers left us that foreshadow what lies ahead, both in the short and long term. I just got done watching the pilot episodes and wanted to post the things that I noticed:
Jack and Boone performing CPR on Rose - this is the first incident of tension between these two characters. This tension carries over throughout the fist part of season 1.
Kate rubbing her wrists as she walks out when Jack…Read more >
I have read several blogs discussing whose side Charles Widmore is on. I think after watching the last episode, I might have some idea. The truth is, Widmore is on no one's side but his own. I think Widmore came to the island because he wants the Source. Jacob's mother mentioned that the source is in all men, but they always want more. It looked like as the man in black drifted into the cave that some sort of electromagnetic event occurred - it looked very similar to the other electromagnetic events we have seen on the island. I think this is why Widmore brought Desmond back - because Desmond is the only person who can go into the cave and not suffer the fate of the man in black. He is the only person who can reach the Source. Just…Read more >
I starting thinking today about the fact that only the leader of the others and Richard are able to talk to Jacob. Now that Jacob has been killed, the only person who can actually talk to him is Hurley. Because of that, I think Hurley will become the leader of the others, or at least, take over Richard's role among the Others by the end of the show. Maybe this is all part of Jacob's plan - his enemy doesn't think he can stop him now because he has been killed, but he can still provide help to the island through Hurley. What do the rest of you think?Read more >
I was re-watching 316 last night, and I couldn't help but think that the interaction between Jack and his grandfather, Ray, was about more than just Jack's dad's shoes. I apologize if someone else has mentioned this, but does anyone else think we're going to see more of Ray this season? It just seems like there are a million other simple ways Jack could get his dad's shoes without Ray's intervention. And then when Ray starts talking about getting away someday where no one will ever find him? I think that either Ray has been to the island in the past, or via the "magic box" or some other method, he'll wind up on the island this season - similar to the way Anthony Cooper wound up there. Anyone else have similar ideas, or am I way out on…Read more >
I've seen a lot of posts about Jack changing the timeline and altering the destiny of the survivors. Sorry if someone has made a post like this before, but I wanted to throw my theory of what we'll see in season 6 out there. I think that Jack did alter the timeline, and that the survivors will not crash on the island. However, I think we'll also see a lot more of the universe "course correcting" in this season, and all of the really memorable incidents that happened to the survivors on the island will also happen to them off the island. For example, Boone won't die when the plane falls off the cliff, but he'll get in a car crash or something in LA and be killed. I think we'll see alot of this sort of thing, and somehow, all of the peop…Read more >
