In the very first episode, when Kate asks Jack: "Any preference?" on the colour of thread she is to stitch him up with, he answers: "plain black." Significant?

there are tons of examples of black and white in the show, but just because he used black thread, it doesn't have some higher meaning

i surprisingly watched the piolt last night. i dont think that really matters. plus, i dont even think he had a white to choose from anyway.
