Place Your Bets - Season 6 Questions and Answers

Though I am looking forward for some mythology reveals in the next 4 episodes, I am truly excited for the present day questions. Not only are they the ones most likely to answer (who's going to get more screen time, Locke or Walt?), but they're the ones with the most set up and likely will be the ones with the greatest answers. Lets go, folks!

1. Jacob's Replacement

Jack - Most likely, he's had the largest character development from Man of Science to Man of Faith.

Hurley - Personally, I think he'd be a great replacement of Richard, if the spot's up for grabs.

Sawyer - Poor odds. I can't imagine him living in a stone foot for eternity, and even though Sawyer has proven he can take leadership, he doesn't care about the island.

Sun/Jin - Do you think…

Clearing up the Whispers, MIB, and Christian

This is makes the most logical sense in my mind, judging from information from Everybody Loves Hugo and The Last Recruit. Believe what you will.

The Whispers (assuming you believe Michael)

  • The whispers are the dead who can't move on, kind of like purgatory
  • The dead whisperers are contained (for the most part) to the island
  • The dead whisperers can be seen in corpeal form to only Hurley (for the most part)

Christian (assuming you believe MIB)

  • Everytime we've seen Christian on the island, he's been a manifestation of MIB

Relation to The Others (my own assumptions)

  • The others are not related to the whispers; they may or may not understand them, but they do fear them
  • The dead whisperers can occasionally be seen in corpeal form to the living; for example, p…

Supernatural, Scientific, or Destiny: What's What?

To be honest, this is mostly clarification for myself, just because even though you can watch and rewatch Lost millions of times, it's still damn confusing. To me, one of the most confusing things is not the questions, but the answers. This isn't a show like 24 or Flashforward, in which everything can be explained rationally and scientifically; it's also not all based on supernatural beings and powers like Heroes; rather, it's a mix of both, in which questions are answered by different means. For instance, we know that Locke's paralysis was healed by the island, but that doesn't really give us any insight; was it Jacob, was it the electromagnetism, or was it just fate resolving itself? Either way, I'm going to try to go through as many mys…

Huge Prediction: Who Flies the Plane?

[Spoiler-free, theory based on episodes up to The Package]

It would seem that many plans are in action at the moment. MIB wants to fly the plane off the island with the candidates; Richard wants to destroy the plane, containing the wine in the bottle; Jack wants to get people off the island, promising to Sun to get her and Jin onto that plane; Widmore, the only person who is actually within reach of the plane, has a plan that somehow involves Desmond, but wants to help contain MIB; and Sawyer rebelliously plans to take the sub.

If the submarine becomes missing in action (which I think is likely, why wouldn't MIB have planned to use it otherwise?), the only way off the island is the plane. However, the plane's pilot is Frank, holding true to…

Ab Aeterno (Obvious Ep. Spoilers Inside)

So, thoughts on the newest episode? I personally loved it, it was great to get both some intricate backstory and take a breathe before the Widmore/Man In Black plunge. I couldn't help but draw Pirates of the Caribbean similarities, though. :)

I think that, for the most part, the episode also confirmed lots of the Jacob/MIB assumptions we've had. It was nice to know that it is indeed all Jacob's responsibility to keep MIB on the island (loved the bottle/cork analogy), and that Jacob can be killed in the same way, via a knife before he has a chance to speak. Obviously MIB can survive a knife attack if he has spoken (confirmed by Sayid), but why was it so important to MIB that Richard not let Jacob speak, when Ben was able to kill him after a …
