Some of us thought there were only questions, and not answers in Across the Sea, but I did find some great things from this episode. First Jacob and The Bad Twin have mommy issues. The Bad Twin of course wanted to leave, muim wouldn't let him and she killed his real mother. But Jacob's maybe were even deeper.
She seemed to force Jacob to drink the wine and become the protector. He didn't care about protecting the island. It was not his "choice". And according to Jacob, everyone always has a choice. Jacob tells Richard that he shouldn't have to tell people what's right, because they have to decide on their own. Mother didn't let him decide. He felt obligated to follow through with Mother's wishes. Now, he wants the new protector to make the decision on their own.
