Listen here cum-slut, I bet you 4 million dollars that you don’t own a black smoke. But guess what? I own 8. And I can tell you right now that a smoke would never directly walk into something like a waterfall. They’ll rarely do anything directly.

But say that your idiotic theory is correct.

Say it did actually walk into it.

    That smoke still probably died.

Is that still funny to you? Do you still get your kicks out of knowing that that black smoke was probably terrified and opening its mouth to scream in that last panel?

And if you say yes then you seriously disgust me as a human being.

Another purpose of the FST is to remove the Island mythology from the equation to prove that the characters are strong enough to stand on their own. However, there is a bit of a cheat. In opposition to the power of the Island’s “magic box” being channeled by a succession of individual Source Protectors, the distribution of power is shifted to everyone via one wish per person.

Therefore, Jacob travels off-island to touch, and grant near-immortality to the candidates before MiB has the opportunity to kill them. Unfortunately for Jacob, his "touchees" can kill each other, and MiB can persuade them to do so. That is the loophole.

MiB does not need a body on the Island in order to impersonate them. We know this because MiB has appeared as Ben's mom as well as Isabella. But MiB can not impersonate someone who is alive--we have never seen him do this.

MiB impersonates Locke as an in-your-face to Jacob. This is MiB's proof that he can a) get touchees to die by manipulating them to kill…

Okay, so now we’re told MiB was posing as Christian, too. In This Place is Death, the smoke disguises himself as Christian for no apparent reason, then appears to John Locke to tell him he needs to turn the frozen donkey wheel. Because of the time skipping, this happens to be sometime before the Black Rock’s arrival because we’re shown that the statue is still intact. This means that the smoke traveled through time.

    So either:

    • a) The smoke is some inter-dimensional being that can transcend time. If so, it has even more super-human powers than we ever imagined, since it would be able to see all past, present, and future on the island, in addition to having the ability to scan people’s thoughts, and turn into smoke, etc. That being the case, …
