Not really a theory so to speak, but I'm curious as to the opinions of you fine folk :-)
Was the Island "special" (for all the reasons the DI were doing experiments there) before it became a "prison" for MiB, or did the presence of "special" individuals like Jacob and MiB make the Island special over time?
Personally, I think it was "special" before they got there, and is possibly the reason it was being used as...unless the "smoke monster" thing is some "recently" learned talent, one would assume MiB would have been able to fly off the Island, or at least "up" into any passing planes overhead...
What do you think?
