On another note...

From Lostpedia

Music on Lost is very important. We've all watched all the DVD extras where they go on and on about the music to the series. Which is wonderful of course. Music is another character on the island. It speaks to us with a subtle voice telling us how to feel. With that said I'd like to address something said on an answer to a recent blog post. Locke was being discussed and the theory that he was Anti-Locke the whole time OR at least influenced heavily since the beginning of the series. Someone said no way and that the writers didn't have it planned out that far in advance. Well..if you use the Music as an indicator at the end of Tabula Rasa the Joe Purdy song Wash Away plays over scenes of everyone going about and gives you an uplifting feeling then at the end the camera pans around Locke the Purdy song ends and SCARY Lost music starts to play as Locke's face is set upon. So what were the writers trying to tell us through music at that point? Seems to me like a musical CLUE.

Personally I think it was a musical clue to signify that "Hey, this guy is different, and he's someone important..." Whether Locke has been 'under the influence' of The Nemesis prior to S5, I don't know, but I think the producers have always pulled out all the stops to show John Locke as someone special.

Something ive thought about since at least before season 4 . post under the same name in the lost listener board and had lists on music, color and lights, noises, other themes and patterns.

I'd side with you in saying that it could have been an indicator, but i wont go as far yet to say that he was Anti-Locke just yet. currently doing my own re-watch and after the "touching" season finale, have begun to wonder if Locke wasnt a form of Jacob. Because in all honesty, Locke was dead after the fall. The miracle that Abaddon claims was Jacob. And I'll also say that Aaron was brought back to life as well. Although it was jin that gave claire the food, it ultimately was a piece of the island that got aaron kicking after claire said that she hadnt felt him move since the day before.

so either the loophole that they talk about is 1) taking the form of a leader that has died (alpert possibly knocks out eloise for that reason, he says that that would be really bad), or 2) taking the form of someone that Jacob has touched.

havent been much on the boards, any boards as of late so i dont know if any of this has been covered. i think ive said too much about my theories so far, especially since ive only got done re-watching the first season and need more to base it on, and the fact that some of the theories were right. but other things like lockes right leg always being messed up, him messing with aarons right leg, and the fact that the right leg is all that remains of the statue hints for me at least that locke was always some form of jacob.

because while jacobs friend can mask himself as locke (his body was still there with the others), jacob taking form could be whole body. Christian says he can speak on jacobs behalf and jack doesnt find the body in the coffin makes me believe that it was a form of jacob (christian also says that he cant help locke up when down by the wheel, which could favor the idea that he is part of jacob since jacob touched everyone but Ilana, and a possible retouch could halt their progress).

I'll leave it at that for now. I really wanted to do an episode a day since the finale but as it is right now im just starting season 2 when i should be on season 3. let me know what you guys think.

Musical cues are of great importance in Lost, no question about it. But, for me, music´s more significant in the way it helps create a particular atmosphere, and I don´t mean only an eerie atmosphere (which it does, most of the time), but also a deeply emotional atmosphere, particularly when you listen to Kate´s theme (like when she´s giving Aaron away to Claire´s mom), or a very epic atmosphere, such as the famous march in every finale (can i call it the "finale trekking march"?). Now, as to whether or not Locke has been dead from the beginning and Nemesis took his body early on, or whether the writers knew from season 1 Locke would be dead, I´m not sure.
