The producers have claimed that MIB's real name will be important to us when they reveal it and as we have seen so far this season ( and "The Incident") they have gone to great lengths in the show to protect his identity. He is always referred to as him, the black smoke, Locke and now in "Ab Aeterno" as The Man In Black. In the last scene of "Ab Aeterno" with Jacob giving MIB the bottle of wine i was hoping Jacob was finally going to say his name but it wasn't to be. I think his name will be one of two options, either 1.A character on the show we have already seen and know of so when they finally give the big reveal our jaws will drop like they did when Locke took Ben into the statue and we realised the whole of Season 5 it wasn't really L…Read more >
I've just been wondering about the whole candidacy thing to take over Jacob's role as Island Protector. If it took Jacob's death to finally allow a vacancy for a potential candidate to ascend to his position and from the bearings on the compass in Jacob's lighthouse there have been(at least) 360 candidates with only our 6 lostie candidates remaining then what was the purpose of the other 350 or so candidates over the previous hundreds of years when Jacob was alive and well and as such there was no position to fill. Were they brought to the island by Jacob for nothing? Were they safeguards in case of MIB finding his loophole? If a worthy successor was found would Jacob have simply stepped down? MIB did comment to Sawyer in the cave how many…Read more >
What if the names on Jacob's wall are those under protection from Jacob. They cannot be directly killed by MIB. Each group of candidates that arrives on the island slowly either end up killing themselves, prove themselves unworthy, or are infected by MIB. Each time a set of candidates is eliminated Jacob has failed in his quest to prove Flocke wrong and the cycle begins anew finally arriving at our current Losties. This would explain why the blonde hair boy in the last episode tells MIB "You know the rules. You can't kill him" as he leads Sawyer off into the jungle. Who or what governing power the boy represents is still unclear. The Black Rock could also have brought another such group of candidates to the island. Maybe somewhere in the ca…Read more >
At least one of our major characters is sure to die in this final season. A show with such an epic scope such as LOST is sure to pull on the heart-strings at some point in its countdown to completion. With that being said heres how i would evaluate the odds of each main characters chances of buying the farm -
Sawyer 3:1 - Gotta be the favourite based on not only what we saw last episode with his alignment with MIB but after Juliette's passing what does James Ford really have to live for? Ben 7:2 - Linus certainly deserves to pay for his sins and an often thought of theory is he will ultimately sacrifice himself in some way to save the island/losties and ultimately find redemption. Kate 5:1 - Not the most popular of LOST characters and the…Read more >
