    I beleive Darlton answered the biggest question of all in the finale. The Island was protecting the world. The stone in the hole where the light was was like the cork in the bottle. If the Island had sank, MIB or not, then alot of bad things would have happened. I'm not sure what, but it would have been bad. I beleive the only reason they showed the Island underwater in the FST was to show that these charecters lives would be free from its influence, which helped them to let go and move on at the end. The Island contains the light, which holds back the evil. Perhaps the Island being destroyed would be the first step in the world being broke apart. Jacob understood that, and so did the MIB.
