Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm feeling rather victorious right now! Thanks to strength in numbers and the element of surprise, we've just managed to take down five highly trained military soldiers to rescue Ben! When I first saw those soldiers, I had my doubts as to whether we could pull it off, but we had enough of our guys who knew all the right tactics from experience and from traditions passed on through the years. (In fact, there's even a rumor that our people once took out an entire 18-soldier U.S. Army battalion back in the 1950's!) Nobody knows who these soldiers were, other than mercenaries hired to capture Ben and most likely kill everyone else on the Island, so it was definitely crucial that we stopped them by any means necessary. So now that Ben is free, he's returned to the Orchid station where John Locke is waiting, and he'll presumably send Locke to our temporary camp nearby, at which point Locke will become our new leader! And honoring our agreement with the Oceanic survivors, we've allowed them to leave the Island on the soldiers' helicopter. (Oddly enough, the helicopter pilot has sided with them.)
I'm still not exactly sure what Ben is going to do at the Orchid station, or what that station is even used for, but it's apparently something that will prevent people from finding the Island again. The funny thing is, nobody really cares at this point, because we're all excited about Locke becoming our new leader. I just hope he turns out to be as good a leader as our experts predicted!
He's here! John Locke is here!! He just wandered into our camp looking for us after leaving Ben to finish his work at the Orchid station. Locke seemed to have no clue at first how to get started as our new leader, but did seem very confident and eager to learn from Richard, who's had plenty of experience as an advisor to Ben and other previous leaders. The two of them are sitting down and talking right now. We're all pretty anxious to see what kinds of changes are going to happen for our community once Locke gets up to speed.
Wait a minute... what's that noise? Dang, what the...?! The sky is lighting up again! Dang, it's a lot brighter this time! What's going on?!?
Ah, good, it's over. Well, everyone else is just as confused as I am as to what the heck that was. Wait a second... Hey!! Where'd John Locke go?!?! He was sitting right there talking to Richard when the sky lit up, and now he's suddenly gone! Nobody even saw him get up and leave. What did he do, sneak off while we were all blinded by the light??! I don't get why he would do that, seeing how eager he was to join us when he got here.
Well, Richard is suggesting that we search the surrounding area to see if anything happened to Locke, then wait at this camp for a little bit longer in case he returns, and then we'll head back to the Temple before it gets dark. This is just really weird.
Well, we never did find John Locke after he disappeared today. It's just really strange that he would just mysteriously disappear during a flash of bright light, just mere minutes after he joined us as our new leader. So for now, we're back to having Richard as our temporary leader. He thinks that the bright light was the result of something that Ben did at the Orchid station, and if it was, then it likely means that Ben has left the Island. I don't really understand how that works, but Richard couldn't explain it beyond that.
Tomorrow, Richard is sending some scout teams to assess the current state of the Island -- whether any of the invaders from that freighter are still on the Island, and if the Oceanic survivors ended up using that helicopter to get the rest of their people off the Island. I'll probably end up joining one of those scout teams. Anyway, it's been a long day, and I'm really tired, so I think I'll go to bed early.
