I re-watched "The Incident, Part 1" becauseI felt like I had missed something. The I realized that something sounded familiar, which may have been why I was re-watching in the first place.

I know this is a stretch and may be unintentional, but here goes.

When Jacob is weaving the tapestry, the music sounded familiar to me. It occurred to me that it sounds like the theme from the Ark of the Covenant in "Raiders of the the Lost Ark". Both this episode and "Raiders" feature the supernatural and references to Ancient Egypt.

Clipping

As you can see, there is the use of parallel minor chords. Especially significant is the use of b minor in the c minor tonality, a feature of both themes. Also interesting, the Ark theme is descending and the Jacob the leaps downward to ascend again.

Now, is this a coincidence or an intentional parallel? Did Michael Giacchino used the "Raiders" theme for inspiration, or is it a mere coincidence that they are similar? I am a composer (I have a bachelor's Degree in Music Composition) so I know that sometimes a composer is inspired to write a piece based on another work they have heard.
