Alpert's motives

Its seems that everyone who claims to do everything for the Island is actully doing it for self interests. Lock is doing what he's doing to fulfill his self need to be important or special. Ben is acting on his lust for power. And, Widmore feels cheated and possessive of the island liek a toy. The only one that seems to do anything for the good of the Island is Richard, yet everytime i watch him in the show I always get the sense that he himself has an hidden agenda as well. None of his actions have spoken to this, but its just a weird feeling I get. I don't know if its the actors inability to convey that feeling to the audience ( i doubt it, he's a GREAT actor) of if the writers and producers are telling him "hey, play it this way.."

What do you gusy think?
