Just had a few thoughts on the finale I wanted to throw out there. First of all I'm not naive enough to give my opinion on the finalle and really think that any of you care whether I thought the ending was great or bad. : ) However, I did want to throw some things by people to see what they thought. So have at it...

1) I think the producers were very clear in the last episode that faith trumps science. First of all we had the huge transformation of Jack from Science Guy (and almost annoying bad/guy science guy) to a complete man of faith. While he was a man of science he was 'Lost', and he wasn't finally at peace until he became a man of faith. Also we obviously see the vast amount of religious symbolism but I also think a huge tell was that not 1 single person from the science team was in the church with them at the end. Not Charlotte, not Daniel, not Miles, and not Frank. I think it was even more telling that Miles said, "I don't believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duct tape." Of course the main reason that line was in there was for humor, but he was basically saying he doesn't have a lot of faith. Hence he doesn't get to move on with the rest of the islanders. Certainly what Miles, and Daniel did on the island was important enough in their lives to be included in this group, it was Daniel's idea to blow up the island with a nuke for goodness sakes. I think they were by far making a bold statement in this episode that science isn't enough, you have to have faith.

2) The Numbers. I know a while back the big speculation on the numbers was that they were relating to the Valenzetti euqtion. If I remember correctly the equation was one in which they figured out a formula to figure out when the world was going to end. And what the Dharma initiative was really trying to do was find a way to change the numbers feeling that if they could change a number, they could stop the world from ending. Well now we know that each of the canidates represented a number. And we did see a MAJOR change in Jack. What if Jack was a representation of one of the numbers, and by changing Jack (into a man of faith) they changed the equation, and therefore were able to stop the world from ending (by Jack becomming a man of faith he was able to save the island and therefore save the world). Just an idea : )

3) One thing I would have liked to have seen would have been an explanation that Jacob needed to die in order for him to brin those trapped in the 70's back to the present day island. You could make the jump that that's what happened because as soon as Jacob is dying he says "they're coming" and then we see they were transported back to 2007, but I thought it would have been great it if was Jacob that HAD to die in order for him to be able to save those back in 1977 from the incident.

4) If I hear one more person misinterpret the ending by saying that everybody was dead from the very beggining I'm going to absolutey vomit. Even the fricken LA Times biffed their entire review. The writers literally dumbed the entire show down for 30 seconds to have Jack say "Are you real." and then Christian said "I sure hope so" and then went on to say something like "You are real, your friends are real, everything that happened was real, but everybody dies sometime kido" THEY DUMBED THE SHOW DOWN FOR 30 SECONDS AND SPELLED IT OUT FOR EVERYBODY JUST SO PEOPLE WOULDN'T MISINTERPRET THE ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But alas everybody seems to have misinterpreted it anyway. So, for hopefully the last time, even though its been said over and over

THEY WERE ALWAYS ALIVE THEY WEREN'T DEAD WHEN THE PLANE CRASHED WE SAW THE MAJORITY OF THEM DIE DURING THE SHOW!! (DANIEL, SAYID, BOONE, SHANNON, JACK, LOCKE, etc..) BUT SOME OF THEM DIED AFTER THE FACT AND WE DIDN'T SEE THEM DIE ( BEN, HURLEY, KATE, JAMES, etc...) BUT EVERYBODY DIES SOMETIME... IT ALL HAPPENED ALL OF IT EXCEPT THE FLASH SIDEWAYS WAS SOMETHING AFTER THE ISLAND TOOK PLACE AND AFTER EVERYBODY DIED!!!

What ever you want to make out of the flash sideways is fine, fit it with your beliefs but it is after the events on the island and after everybody died.

Sorry just had to get that out of my system.  : )
