In episode "There's No Place Like Home", Ben retrieves the box with the signal mirror & crackers. He tell Hurley that they are 15 years old & then signals someone with the mirror.

3 questions... Who put the items there? Why are they there? Who is Ben signaling & why? (I guess that is 4).

Im pretty sure Ben signalled "intercept" to his people. i read this somewhere ages ago. This is why Richard and Co knew to help him from the mercenaries.
Im guessing this was one of Ben's stashes. seeing as tho he knew where to look.

You don't know at first, but it turns out to be Richard. That's how he knew to round up the troops and come save him from Keamy and the freighter folk. "Thanks for showing up Richard." "Don't mention it." The crackers thing I have no idea...

Didn't Ben say his people were going to some sort of Temple or 'thel ast safe place', I haven't seen this episode in several monthes but I'm guessing he was signaling his people to ensure they were safe and that they would know he was. And the crackers were just a little snack :)

He says he is signaling his people. And I think he says the crackers are 16 years old. Also it should be noted that they were Dharma brand, so I would guess Ben put them there when he was acting as a double agent for the Others within the DI.

Didn't he signal Richard? My memory of the episode is a bit foggy coz I've only seen it once. I'm guessing the hostiles just had various stashes across the Island, that being one of them... I dunno...
