Light over Bram's head

Hi all. I'm suprised I haven't seen any discussion about this - to my knowledge. In LA X, seconds before Bram gets "dealed with by the smoke monster", Bram formed a circle of ashes around his body. The monster attemps to kill him, but centimeters before reaching him, the monster was suddenly stopped by some force when reaching the ash perimeter, screaming like an elephant, while some white light appeared for seconds over Bram's body. The question is : what is this, and what does it mean ? The question I don' want to ask : why didn't people on the nearby beach notice Bram's followers being thrown out through the ceiling.

ok...we know frm the time immemorial that smokey cant cross the ash... as far as the light is concerned...though i didn't notice it...it might be smokey scanning bram...just like it scans everyone.... remember kate and juliet in 'left behind'?????????

Oh yeah! I completely forgot about it. It seems like some effect of the protection against smokey, seeing as it appeared just as he was about to attack him. Perhaps it's just something that happens when the smoke monster tries to pass an ash circle.
