From Lostpedia
Taking a page from Celebok, I have decided to create my own storyline for a background character based upon my personality, but not much else (I'm not actually an actor). I intend to make it trite with obscure references, and will link as I do so.

Sam McPherson was an actor and passenger of Oceanic Flight 815.
Before the Crash
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Sam McPherson grew up surrounded by the arts. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be an actor, and pursued his career through acting classes and other such means. However, he was almost exclusively unproductive in his career, and he resorted to working at a local Greek cafe. After one successful audition, Sam was accepted to work on a new pilot for ABC, a show called Grimm. Principal photography took place in Australia, however, and Sam was flown across the pond to play a secondary role in the big-budget production.
However, Sam was involved in a car crash after leaving a party. While he was not injured, the crash was caused by his drunkenness, and the producers of the show were forced to fire him because he was too much of a liability. Dejected by this sudden drop of luck, Sam prepared to return to Alabama, to finally get a new career in something more practical than acting.
While waiting at the airport, Sam met a man named Neil. Neil had been to Australia in order to buy a new and better stand from which to sell frozen yogurt, but was unfortunately unable to afford it due to a miscommunication. Neil, still bitter about the deal, insulted Sam's slight Southern accent. Sam replied in kind, and airport security eventually had to separate them in order to avoid a scene.
After the Crash
Season 1
After the crash, Sam awoke still inside the fuselage, hanging upside down among several corpses. Stepping out, he was shocked to see the carnage left by the plane crash. Seeing a man run by, Sam followed him to ask him what was happening. However, the man almost immediately ran in front of a turbine and get sucked in. The resulting explosion knocked Sam unconscious, and he woke up next to the grisly corpse of a man. When searching the man's wallet, Sam found his name to be Peter. Sam pocketed the cash and left the man's corpse, unable to see past anything but his own sore prospects.
That night, Sam attempted to make camp but was unable to pitch his own tent, eventually being forced to share with a nearby woman, Marcia. Sam didn't really like Marcia, though he dealt with her eccentricities until the next morning. During the night, Sam was among those who heard the monster in the jungle, though he dismissed it as part of the plane falling.
The next morning as Jack, Charlie, and Kate set out, Sam decided to roam the camp, looking for food and other such commodities. He spoke to Hurley, asking if he knew where the food was, and managed to offend Hurley about his weight. Hurley responded with a "not cool, dude," and left Sam feeling horrible. Sam eventually befriended Jerome and Doug, the former of which he thought resembled director Peter Jackson. Sam also became friends with Craig, who he learned was once a musician back in the real world. ("Pilot, Part 1")
Sam watched Sawyer and Sayid brawl the next day. Through the thick of the brawl, he noticed Neil, who was staring right at him with an angry stare, apparently not having forgotten the altercation the previous day. Sam soon confronted Neil about this, telling him he needed to get over it. Neil then promptly punched him in the face. Hurley came to Sam's aid, helping him up. Sam apologized for his previous comments, and Hurley brushed it off, saying it was he who had been too sensitive. Neil interrupted again, insulting Hurley's weight deliberately. Sam returned the remarks, insulting Neil's profession, obviously a sore spot. During his tirade, Sam coined the nickname "Frogurt," which stuck. ("Pilot, Part 2")
The next twenty days passed uneventfully, with Sam doing many inane tasks to keep himself busy. However, on day twenty-two, Sam wandered off into the jungle, where he stumbled upon Aldo relieving himself. Aldo was unarmed, but he still managed to catch Sam off-guard and restrain him. Aldo questioned Sam extensively, and when it appeared Sam was as clueless as he looked, Aldo calmed down, introducing himself. The two sat down on a log and began to talk, with Aldo taking interest in the book Sam was carrying, A Brief History of Time, and the curious Sam asking Aldo who he was. Aldo replied that he was part of another people, and stated that Sam shouldn't tell the survivors, because that would only lead to chaos. Realizing that Aldo was right, Sam handed Aldo his book as a parting gift and then left, returning to the beach where he told no one his story. ("Whatever the Case May Be")
Sam began trading with Scott and Steve, who had been secretly stealing supplies from Sawyer's tent while he was away. Due to this, Sam was able to gather several new items, like a flashlight and a box of matches. ("Hearts and Minds")
On day 28, Sam was shocked to discover Scott's dead body in the surf, and immediately suspected that it was the man who had kidnapped Claire. Sam tried to comfort the depressed Steve, who did not attend the funeral. Sam was happy to hear of Ethan's death, though his meeting with Aldo made him wonder who exactly these people really were. ("Homecoming")
Journeying out to the spot where he had first met Aldo, Sam sat and waited for an hour each day, eventually meeting Aldo on day 35. This time, Aldo was accompanied by a man named Thomas, who was just as friendly as Aldo. Aldo assured Sam that Ethan was not operating on anyone's orders, and that the loss of Claire had driven him over the edge. Sam, understanding, asked to come with them back to their camp. Aldo stated that this wasn't possible at the time, but said that it could happen in the future. Sam returned to his camp. ("Numbers")
Back at the beach, Sam, Hurley, and Jack devised a plan to embarass Sawyer in front of Kate. Though Sam had no real beef with Sawyer, he simply found it amusing to watch Sawyer, the "cool guy" of the island, flounder for words. ("Deus Ex Machina")
Sam soon found out that Boone had fallen and died. Affected simply by the sheer mortality of the situation, Sam wandered out into the woods, eventually stumbling upon Aldo once again. Aldo told Sam that the survivors had come too close, and that it was time for Sam to come with them. Sam agreed, though he left a note tied to a tree by a shoelace, to tell his friends that everything was okay. ("Do No Harm")
Sam and Aldo then traveled back to the Beechcraft, where they met Tom. Tom, though unhappy with Sam's presence, enlisted him and Aldo to move the Beechcraft to cover the Pearl hatch, though he would not tell Sam its purpose. Sayid and Locke soon arrived, and Sam and Aldo hid in the bushes and watched the ensuing confrontation. ("The Greater Good")
