Jacob's nemesis = Set [2] (new god of evil) or Apep [3] (original god of evil)
Richard Alpert = Horus or Anubis
- Osiris was murdered by Set because he was jealous of his power.
- Osiris is brought back to life by Isis and conceived Horus.
- Osiris brought civilization and agriculture to Egypt.
- Osiris and Horus are gods of life-death-rebirth.
- Set is the ancient god of chaos and storms (hence the monster).
- Set is defeated by Horus and banished from Egypt. He spends his days protecting Ra.
- Jacob's nemesis says that he wants to return home at then end of LA X, Parts 1 & 2
- Set is a mysterious and unknown creature.
- In an annual rite, called the Banishing of Apep, priests would build an effigy of Apep that was thought to contain all of the evil and darkness in Egypt, and burn it to protect everyone from Apep's influence for another year, in a similar manner to modern rituals such as Zozobra. (Possibly the powder that The Others pour on the ground to protect themselves from the monster?)
- Apep always resides "below the horizon" (Related to Shadow of the statue?)
- Taweret is the counterpart to Apep, she is the "Northern Sky"
- Taweret became the demon wife of Apep.
- Taweret is the concubine or wife of Set (after he fell from grace).
- Taweret is a "protector". She is the guard to the mountains of the west where the deceased entered the land of the dead. (statue is in the west)
- Taweret was believed to have given birth to Osiris at Karnak.
- Taweret is the protector of child birth.
- Pregnant women die on the island because the statue is broken.
- Horus[4] is the god of sky, war, and protection.
- Son of Osiris
- Horus and Set had many battles.
- Horus is Lower Egypt, Set is Upper Egypt.
- Anubis[5]was the most important god of the Dead but he was replaced during the Middle Kingdom by Osiris
- Anubis was Set's son in some versions, but because Set became god of evil, he was subsequently identified as being Osiris' son.
