My theory about LOST: Jacob and MiB are brothers, and the two sons of the person who at some point controlled the Island. After the downfall (or maybe he's still there?) of that person, the brothers started a rivalry about who should take over the Island. Jacob won, but somehow, he also imprisoned his brother in some form, so that he cannot leave the island. This keeps the feud alive.
