Ryder Goldman is one of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 and one of the background DHARMA Initiative members. His character is not featured on the show or any novel, but is depicted solely in the story entitled Lost 4Ever, created by Lostpedia user Crash815. However, he did appear under the alias "Thomas Piper" in "LaFleur". He grew up in a blended family, after his parents got divorced and his dad remarried. As a teenager, he started dating Dawn, a girl he'd know since he was a child. Later on, he broke her heart, leaving to work for his mom, but years later, he stopped working for his mom and promised to be with her again. After finishing his work for his mom, Ryder got a job with Widmore Industries which transferred him around a lot. During one transfer, he crashed on the Island on Oceanic Flight 815. After surviving the crash, Ryder lived with the Others, who eventually captured his girlfriend, who had been in the tail, and Ryder was able to marry her. Months later, during the time flashes, Ryder was forced to part with her in order to keep her alive. After the flashes were over, Ryder lied his way into the DHARMA Initiative under the alias Thomas Piper, where he lived for the next three years, until he was forced to flee the Barracks with his fellow time travelers.

Growing UpEdit
When Ryder was only four-years-old, his parents split up. (Reading Lips) Ryder met Dawn the day he started first grade. (Wonderwall) A couple years later, Ryder attended the funeral of Robbie's father. (Together) As a child, Ryder didn't know what he wanted to be when he grew up, but he wanted to travel. (Careful What You Wish For) A few years later, Ryder's dad married Robbie's mom. A few years after that, Robbie's mom gave birth to Ron, Ryder's half-brother. (Together)
When Ryder was sixteen-years-old, he attended a New Year's party with Dawn and Robbie. As midnight approached, Ryder went off to find Dawn, hoping to get a New Year's kiss from her, but instead found her hugging another guy as the new year began. (Wonderwall) Later, after going home, Robbie heard Ryder crying in his bedroom. (Together)
While Dating DawnEdit
Ryder and Dawn took a picture together at their graduation. At the age of 22, Ryder learned to read lips because of his brother, Ron, being mute. (Oh Brother) Later that year, Ryder prepared to go on a date with Dawn, but before leaving the house, she told him that her dad wanted her to move to New York with him. In reply, Ryder told her that his mom wanted him to work for her. She ran off, upset that Ryder wouldn't ask her to stay. (Ageless) Afterwards, he talked to Robbie, thinking that Dawn hated him, but Robbie assured him that Dawn couldn't hate him and that he shouldn't give up. Working For His MotherEdit
While working for her, Ryder's mother set him up on various dates. While on a date with Elaine Bell, Ryder couldn't stop thinking about Dawn. Elaine eventually told him that she was already engaged. He told her that he was in love with another girl, anyway, and his mom knew that. Elaine suggested that Ryder call his girl. The next day, Ryder took Elaine's advice and called Dawn. During the phone call, Ryder promised to get a better job and to never leave her again. Then they admitted their love for each other. (Wonderwall)
Working For Widmore IndustriesEdit
Added by KiwipatAfter working in Australia for three months, Ryder got a letter from Dawn saying should would visit soon. She bought an engagement ring, but, a day later, he found out he was being transferred to Los Angeles. (Careful What You Wish For) Later that day, he called his dad and asked him to pick him up at the airport two days later. (Ice Cube Tray) Shortly before leaving Australia, Ryder sent some boxes of his belongings to his family. These boxes arrived after the crash. At the airport, before boarding Flight 815, Ryder met Richard, who was mute, just like Ryder's brother. Ryder talked to Richard for a minute, utilizing his lip-reading skills to understand Richard. (Gate 23) After leaving Richard, Ryder saw Amon being forced onto the plane. He saw Amon drop a note from his brother. He gave the note to Sam Thomas, who promised to find Amon's son. Five hours into the flight, Sonya told Ryder that they'd found Amon's son. During the turbulence, three hours later, the front of the plane was ripped off and it fell into the jungle. On the IslandEdit
Shortly after the crash, Ryder was found by Ethan in the jungle, who radioed Diane to come get him. He was taken to the Staff Station. A day later, Ryder woke up at the Hydra Station, where he met Juliet, who told him that they were trying to see if Ryder could stay with them. She then instructed him to sit by the far wall so that she could give him some food. Two days after that, Ben invited Ryder to join the Others. The next day, Ryder moved into the Barracks and was given muffins by Amelia. Three days later, Ryder met Dieter, Austin, and Simon, who had been taken from the tail section, but permitted to live with the Others. (We're the Good Guys) Two days later, after seeing Ben, Bea, and Tom leave the Barracks, Dieter asked Ryder where they were going. Ryder explained that they were getting sedative to use during the capture of the tail survivors. (Tales from the Tail)
The next day, Ryder read the letter he had received from Dawn and mourned because he could not see her now. Ben found him crying and told him that Dawn was on the Island and would be joining them in about week. Then Ben warned Ryder not to get her pregnant, because the pregnant women on the Island all died. A week later, Ryder waited for Dawn at the dock. When he saw her, he walked over and proposed to her. They got married the next day. Two days later, Ryder went to work at the quarry, where he saw one of the survivors arrive on the boat. He asked Tom why he was being brought there, but got no answers. The next morning, Dawn talked to Ryder about starting a family, but Ryder tried to avoid the subject. After Dawn started getting upset with him, Ryder told her that all the pregnant women on the Island die. She started to cry and Ryder promised that he would think of something. The next day, Ryder worked at the Staff Station and Ethan offered to let him and Dawn raise Claire's baby, which made Dawn overjoyed. A few days later, Ryder told Dawn that Claire had escaped, but Ethan would do whatever it took to get her back. (One Ambition) A couple weeks later, Ryder saw Tom putting on a fake beard and preparing to leave the Barracks and questioned him about it, but was given no answers. (We're the Good Guys)
Season 2 (Days 45-67)Edit
Ryder got up early and worked at the quarry. He saw Amon arrive and demanded answers from Ben about it. Ben explained that they were getting information from him so that they could get Jack to do Ben's surgery. When Ryder returned home that night, he found Dawn already asleep. The day after that, Ryder and Dawn spent a day at the beach together. A few days later, they moved to the decoy camp. Two days later, Ryder saw the confrontation between Tom and three of the survivors. (We're the Good Guys)
The next day, after being sent ahead to the decoy camp by Tom, Ryder told Juliet about Michael's capture. After delivering the information to Juliet, Ryder reunited with Dawn. (Tales from the Tail) About a week later, Dawn told Ryder that Ben had been captured by the survivors. Later that day, Ryder worked at the quarry and saw Amon arrive again, finally remembering who Amon was. (We're the Good Guys) Two days later, Ryder offered to inject Amon with their drug. Before injecting Amon, Ryder told him that when the memory flashes started to go to the Staff Station and radio him for more instructions. Ryder left the camp, two days later, to find Amon and tell him the truth. Near the Tempest, Ryder saw Amon trip over a branch. (We're the Good Guys) Howard wanted to leave Amon behind, but Ryder intervened, telling Howard that Amon hadn't lied to them. Then he told them that Ben had been lying to Amon and they didn't have Amon's son. He explained that he knew it, because he "was there". (I Was There) To explain everything to them, Ryder took Howard, Janelle, and Amon to the Staff Station. They arrived at the Staff Station around noon the next day. Once they were there, Ryder explained what had happened to him since the crash, up until seeing Amon arrive at the Hydra Island for the first time. Then they parted ways and Ryder headed towards the Pala Ferry dock. After arriving at the Pala Ferry dock, Ryder heard the noise from the Swan discharge and saw Michael's departure. Season 3 (Days 68-91)Edit
At the Hydra Station, Ryder caught Karl after his escape and later had to put him in Room 23. That evening, he told Dawn about what he'd done to Karl. The next day, Ryder was working at the quarry and got in a fight with Sawyer. (Pinky Swear) That night, he told Dawn what happened at the quarry. The next day, While relaxing in a hammock, Ryder and Dawn heard about Colleen's death from Cindy. The night after that, Ryder and Dawn attended Colleen's funeral. (One Ambition) The next day, while he prepared to go work at the quarry, Dawn asked Ryder why he was working there so much. He told her that it was a surprise for her birthday. Then he reminded her that they had gotten married on his birthday. Later that day, Ryder kept watch over Kate when Alex made trouble at the quarry, but he got knocked out by Alex's slingshot. The next morning, because he didn't have to work at the quarry, Ryder and Dawn stayed in bed longer than usual until they heard Jack and Kate's voices on his walkie. (Moment of Distraction) The next day, Ryder and Dawn saw Jack in one of the cages at the Hydra Station. Later that day, they attended Juliet's trial. (By the Book) Almost a week later, after Amon radioed him, Ryder told Verena how to save Amon. Later that day, Ryder told Dawn that they were going to leave the Island and adopt a child. Early the next morning, as Ryder and Dawn walked over to the submarine, they saw Locke standing on the dock. Then the submarine exploded. A few days later, Jim asked Ryder if he was doing okay with his bags. Ryder lied and said he was. The next day, Ryder and Dawn set up their tent at the ruins. They saw Locke helping Cindy with her tent nearby. As they looked at him, Locke noticed them staring at him, but Cindy assured him that they were just excited to see him. The next day, Dawn noticed that Ryder was upset, but, in denial, he said he was fine. Later that day, Ryder opened up and told Dawn that he felt like nothing could work out for him. The next morning, Ryder left the ruins with the Others. As they left, Dawn promised Ryder that everything would be okay. (Careful What You Wish For)
A day later, Ryder saw Locke arrive at the Others' camp and, later that day, he saw Mikhail arrive, looking for Ben. Ryder was astonished to hear Locke say that Ben was going to take him to see Jacob, because, as far as Ryder knew, only Ben had ever seen Jacob. The next day, after hearing that Ben was sending a team to the beach a day early, Dawn suggested that Ryder warn the survivors, but he knew he wouldn't have time and that they had to hope for the best. (Family Roots) The next day, after the failed raid on the beach, Ryder went to the Temple with Dawn and the rest of the Others. (The Future)
Season 4 (Days 100)Edit
When Richard Alpert needed help rescuing Ben, Ryder and Dawn volunteered to help. Later that day, Ryder helped protect Alpert from Kate and Sayid in the jungle. When the mercenaries brought Ben back to the chopper, Ryder helped free Ben by killing one of the mercenaries by breaking his neck. Later that day, at the Others' makeshift camp, Ryder saw Locke arrive. (Membata) Soon after, Dieter took him and Dawn away from the camp. It wasn't long after that the sky lit up. (Ageless)
Season 5Edit
After the light cleared, Andrew tried to explain that they were traveling through time. After hearing this, Ryder exchanged a confused look with Dawn. (Ageless) Later, Ryder learned that Ariel was Dawn's mother. Just then, the sky lit up. After another flash, Ryder and his friends saw the Flame Station and, after that, they decided to head towards the beach. At night, after another flash, Ryder and his friends encountered Verena and Howard. (Just Survive)
After a short exchanged between Marc and Howard, Andrew suggested that they get some rest. Ryder offered to keep watch as everyone else got some rest. The next morning, Ryder watched as Marc screamed in agony while he recovered his lost memories. After Ariel heard some Hostiles nearby, Ryder, Howard, Dawn, Verena, Jim, Eli, and Zander ran away, not realizing that Marc and Ariel had gone back to help Nancy, who had tripped. After seeing Nancy, Marc, and Ariel get captured by the Hostiles, Ryder, Howard, and Zander went after them, but were soon captured by Hostiles. However, an unknown shooter saved them soon after. After the light cleared, Ryder, Zander, and Howard saw that the dead Hostiles were gone. (Faulty Memory) Ryder, Zander, and Howard came across Locke's group while looking for Marc, Ariel, and Nancy. Ryder read Locke's lips and found out that Jack, Sun, Kate, Sayid, and Hurley had gotten off the Island. Soon after, Ryder collapsed and had a dream where Richard told him that Dawn was in danger. Not long after that, the sky lit up and, after the light cleared, Ryder was energized, because he knew Dawn was in danger. After another flash of light, after running through the jungle for some time, Ryder, Howard, and Zander found the clearing with the Pearl Station. They heard voices nearby and followed the voices to find Ariel, Nancy, Marc, and many others. Nancy told Ryder that Dawn was pregnant and Ryder rushed away from the group with Ariel, Elliot, and Oscar. (Family Matters)
On their way to the beach, Ariel told Ryder what happened to her after her plane crash. Ariel told Ryder that she would help get him and Dawn off the Island, but she wouldn't leave. After arriving at the beach and reuniting with Dawn, Ryder saw Ariel collapse into the sand. (Twenty-Six Years) Ryder urged Dawn to get up, because they had to leave the Island, but Dawn refused to leave her mother. Soon after, a group of DHARMA gunmen arrived, scaring the survivors into the jungle. While running away from the beach, Ryder and Eli carried Ariel away, with Oscar nearby. Soon after leaving the beach, Ryder realized that he had been separated from Dawn. (Conditional)
After a few more flashes, almost to the lagoon, Ryder, Ariel, Oscar, and Eli encountered Chris, Elliot, and Dieter. They told Ryder where to find Dawn and he ran to the cliff by the lagoon. From the cliff, Ryder saw some DHARMA gunmen approaching the group. Ryder took out his gun and shot one of them. Just then, the sky lit up. After the light cleared, Ryder saw that the Via Domus was back and he told the people at the dock to get Dawn off the Island before the sky lit up again. As they sailed away, soon after, the sky lit up. After the light cleared, Ryder saw that the Via Domus had gotten away from the Island. (The Dreamer)
After the final flash, Ryder and Eli reunited with Dieter, Chris, Elliot, and Ariel, who was no longer being affected by the flashes. Just then, Oscar returned and told them that he had saved Dawn from being shot. That night, Ryder was able to rest while Oscar and Elliot kept watch. (The Dreamer) A week later, Ryder was discussing finding their people with Eli, Dieter, Oscar, Ariel, Elliot, and Chris when Howard ran into them. No sooner had Howard explained what had happened to him than Eli was shot by an unseen DHARMA shooter. In panic, Ryder was pulled away from Eli by Howard. They ended up running in the same direction as Ariel and Chris. (Tales from the Tail) A week after that, Ryder, Howard, Ariel, and Chris ran into four new DHARMA recruits. They killed the recruits in self-defense and took on their identities. Ryder took on the name "Thomas Piper". (Wonderwall)
A few days later, Jeff, who had recently lied his way into DHARMA, visited Ryder and Chris and explained how they got in. Ryder suggested that Jeff go to talk to Ariel because his story was similar to what happened after Ariel's plane crashed. (The Angel) A few days later, on the way to his house, after working at the motor pool, Ryder saw Opal with a baby. He went over to her house and asked her husband, Mike, whose child it was and found out it was Howard. Ryder suggested to Mike that he take the baby to an orphanage in England. Mike replied, saying that he would talk to Horace about it. Two days later, Howard got upset with Ryder for suggesting that Mike take him to the orphanage. Chris interrupted the argument and got the group of time travelers talking about finding the rest of their people. A couple weeks later, Ryder went to Mike and Opal's house to talk to Mike about baby Howard and found out that Mike had already talked to Horace about him. (That's a Maybe)
About a year later, as Horace prepared to leave the Island with baby Howard, Ryder watched and said goodbye to the infant, promising to meet him in thirty years. (The Day After Tomorrow) The next day, while having dinner with her, Ariel asked Ryder how he was doing without Dawn. He said he wasn't doing well and he asked her how she had survived twenty-seven years without her husband. Ariel told him that she didn't know how she did it. (Heroes)
About a year later, Ryder had breakfast with Oscar and Chris. While eating, they decided to record a video for their friends in the future. (...In Time) The next day, while recording the video for their friends in the future, Ryder spoke directly to Dawn, saying that he hoped the baby was okay and he guessed it would be a boy. Before the video ended, Ryder expressed his love for Dawn and said that he hoped he would be able to meet his son some day. (Time Capsule)
A year after that, Ryder visited Juliet and Sawyer's house after finding out about Amy going into labor. He found out that Amy had given birth successfully and then went to visit her in the infirmary. Amy told Ryder about Horace finding Paul's necklace. She asked him if three years was long enough to get over someone. Ryder told her, briefly, about Dawn. Then he told her that three years was not long enough to get over someone. (Heroes) Ariel woke Ryder up early the next morning after finding out that Jack, Kate, and Hurley were back. She suggested to Ryder that maybe Dawn was back too. The possibility excited Ryder. (The Angel) Later that day, Ryder talked to Juliet, who had just gotten the list of recruits from Amy, and asked her if Dawn was back. Juliet told him that she wasn't, as far as she knew. The next day, when Chris got up to leave to see Janelle, Ryder asked him where he was going. Chris told him he wouldn't be gone long. (Brothers in Arms) Later that day, Ryder and Chris saw the burning building, resulting from a flaming DHARMA van crashing into it. They helped to put out the fire. (Burning Heart) The next day, Ryder found Jack at the Barracks. Jack recognized him from his time at the Barracks and then remembered Dawn visiting him in Los Angeles. Jack told Ryder about Dawn giving birth, which thrilled Ryder. Jack was about to tell Ryder his son's name, but Miles intervened, taking Jack away, at Sawyer's order. (Heroes) Later that day, Ariel visited Ryder at the motor pool and asked him what Jack said to him earlier. Ryder told Ariel that Dawn had given birth to a boy, but he didn't know what his name was. Ryder woke up early the next morning and decided to go for a walk. during his walk, he was met by Debra who asked him to take some medical supplies back to the Staff. As he headed towards the sonic fence with the supplies, Ryder saw three people on the ground: Eli, Tyson, and Dieter. He got out of his van and checked them, finding that Eli was the only one who had died. Tyson got up and, with Ryder's help, got Dieter into a van. Then he ordered Ryder to capture Howard and Zander, while he reprimanded the rest of Eli's friends. After getting to the other side of the fence, Ryder radioed Ariel and told her to get their people out of the Barracks. As he finished talking to Ariel, the van he was in hit a tree root and rolled the van. (The Day After Tomorrow)
Soon after, he was found by Zander and Howard, who helped him out of the van, ripping his jumpsuit in the process. Later, Ryder, Zander, and Howard found a creek for Ryder to wash his arm in, to get the glass out. (The Day After Tomorrow) Just then, they were surrounded by four Hostiles, including Marc and Erik. The leader of the four called himself Charles Widmore. (Some Starless Night) Ryder had a whispered conversation with Widmore, where he explained that they were from the future and that he had worked for him before coming to the Island. After convincing him that they were from the future, Widmore took his men away from Ryder, Zander, and Howard. Later, Ryder told Howard that he had worked for Widmore. Some time later, digging around in his pockets, Ryder realized his wedding ring was missing. (The Day After Tomorrow) He retraced his steps back to the van, but while looking for his ring, some shooters found them and started attacking them. Fortunately, they were saved by Susan and Peter, who had been in the jungle for three years. (The Kite Runner)
Later, the group found Ariel, Elliot, Austin, Josh, and Oscar in the jungle, surrounded by shooters. They rescued the group, except for Josh, who was killed in the process. In addition, Susan was shot in the fight. Later, the group found the Swan construction site. Soon after, the group ran into Morris, Simon, Chris, and several others. Just then, Micah and a group of gunmen found them. In the fight that followed, Ryder killed two of the gunmen. Later, Ryder arrived at Swan construction site with Bob, Chris, Zander, Oscar, and Peter. It was just in time to see Miles helping free his dad's arm from being crushed. Suddenly, their guns were pulled away from them and down the shaft. Soon after, a white light started emitting from the shaft. (Tuck Everlasting)
