Thomas Jason Hannsz is a member of the recurring Others background cast. He is the real life artist who created Jacob's painting and Black Rock Storm, among other paintings used on Lost.

Before Lost, Hannsz had appeared as a background extra in the 1998 film Wind on Water, which was directed by Zalman King. He attended Sorbonne University in Paris in 1999, and later, in 2003, attended the University of Hawaii, where, according to his Facebook, he was a Manoa graduate with a BA degree in commercial art.

In Season 3 he appeared as background cast at the cages, at the ruins and at second camp. His character accompanied Ryan Pryce's abduction team with the Others' raid on the beach to kidnap pregnant women. His character was killed in the explosions; Hannsz performed a stunt for that scene. ("Through the Looking Glass") For the 2007 Screen Actors Guild awards, Hannsz was among those of the cast of Lost nominated for Oustanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble. [1]

Hannsz, after leaving Lost, published a coffee-table book, 111 Lotus, which was a compilation of over seventy pieces of his artwork, which he released online. A second edition, which includes more artwork, is expected to be released in 2009. Hannsz is also currently promoting his new candy idea, Candy Caps, over the social networking site Facebook, attempting to gain one million people in order to launch his candy line.
