An extensive series of catacomb-like tunnels or caverns that exist beneath the surface of the island, including the Barracks area, and The Temple area. These tunnels form part of an underground location used by the Others. Hieroglyphs adorn many of the pillars and walls throughout the Tunnels.

Entrances

Richard and Jack at the tunnels´ chamber

The Tunnels includes at least 3 entrances. One can be reached by diving into a stream out in the jungle and swimming in under a small waterfall. Richard indicates that there is another entrance that was used to to bring the bomb into The Tunnels. ("Follow the Leader") The declivity in The Temple Wall also leads to another portion of The Tunnels. [1] It appears the Hostiles may have deliberatedly bricked up some of the entrances. Richard uses a sledgehammer to break through one of the walls to provide access to the basement of Horace's house inside the Barracks compounds. ("The Incident, Parts 1 & 2")

Jughead chamber

Jughead is hidden within the tunnels ("Follow the Leader")

In a large chamber somewhere within the Tunnel system is where the Hostiles hid the hydrogen bomb Jughead in 1954. The bomb was placed here to contain continued radiation leakage. Like many other areas in The Tunnels, there are hieroglyphs on many of the pillars within the chamber. ("The Incident, Parts 1 & 2")

The Cerberus chamber

Beneath the declivity in The Temple Wall, inside The Tunnels, Ben found a chamber that included four pillars covered in hieroglyphs that lined the center of the room. Additionally,a large engraving stood at the back of the chamber. This depicted The Monster and what appeared to be the Egyptian God Anubis (who is known to guide the souls of the dead to an after life). The Monster then crept out of a vent under the engraving and surrounded Ben, flashing him images of his past. When the smoke vanished back into the vent, a manifestation of Alex appeared. 'She' told Ben that she knew he was going to attempt to murder Locke again, and that if he so much as touched him she would hunt him down and "destroy him". ("Dead Is Dead")
