"The Fall of Man" is an orchestral piece on the season 6 soundtrack. It is the theme for the Man in Black in his original form and represents his wanting and ultimate failing to leave the Island.

Main appearance

The Man in Black reveals to Richard that he is the black smoke. He dodges Richard's other questions though, and pushes him to kill Jacob, saying it's the only way to again see his wife.

Richard walks to the ruined statue. Jacob spots him, and the two fight until Jacob disarms Richard.

Variations

The theme reappears in "And Death Shall Have No Dominion", "Dead Man Talking", "Jacob's Advocate", "Locke v. Jack", "The Long Kiss Goodbye", "Make Like A Tree", "Mother of a Plan", and "Mother of Sorrows".

Title significance

In religion, the Fall of Man refers to humanity's turning from God, specifically the story of Adam and Eve. When the piece plays last, the Man in Black falls off a cliff.
