  • This template is to be used for characters portrayed by actors who were at some point "main cast" -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  02:46, 29 October 2008 (PDT)

even Nikki and Paulo? they had absolutely no impact on the show, if they were gone it wouldnt have mattered. Doesnt sound like a main character to me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) 05:50, 29 December 2008.

    • Both actors were credited as "starring", making them automatically main characters. --Golden Monkey 22:42, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Seperating current and previous cast

  • I think it would be useful if the template seperated active and non-active cast. Ana-lucia and Boone haven't been main cast for a long time, even Claire isn't considered main cast at the moment. --Hexhunter 02:15, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Alive and Dead

Should we italicize the main characters who had died to distinguish them from the ones who haven't? -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  04:23, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Bernard and Rose?

  • Who added them and why?Orhan94 16:24, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Should Frank be considered a main character as of Season 4? Especially since he seems to play an important role in season 5... and since Daniel is on there, should Miles and Charlotte (or perhaps just Miles) be on there too? meggie ~ Talk & contribs 22:43, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Juliet should be listed as alive

She was alive when we last saw her, and if she's dead, she's no more or less dead than anyone else. And if the plan worked, she'd be alive and well anyway. Illyrias Acolyte 04:50, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

I thought we agreed to wait with Alpert's addition until the season premiere.  ODK  Talk  Sandbox  16:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

The list has recently been reordered, but I'm not sure I grasp the logic of it ... If we were truly listing it in credit order, we'd have to go all the way with the actors' last names, not the arbitrary first season cast members, then Claire, then the rest, in joining order. Honestly, it just feels ... random. Wouldn't it be better to simply put in back in (characters') alphabetical order? --LeoChris 19:43, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • I agree it looks really messy. It should be listed in alphebetical order or arranged by the dead characters to the alive characters. And do we really need the seasons the character starred in? That could easily be found under the seasons' pages. --Sam10123 23:23, April 18, 2010 (UTC)
  • Cleared it up now. Looked like a right mess beforehand.--—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sam10123 (talkcontribs) .
    • I'm the one who re-ordered it. The logic is the first 13 characters (Sayid to Boone) are listed per credit order in the Pilot (alphabetical Naveen Andrews to Ian Somerhalder). Claire wasn't in the credits until later in the first season, and then I added later characters by season. I was trying to go for a chronological feel, so the people who were in the show first are at the start and the later additions near the back (I didn't add the seasons, that was after the re-ordering). I thought it looked better, as the previous alphabetical order seemed odd, although I see it's ease of use, and I don't understand the linebreaks (my original reason for changing it). If consensus is against me, it can be changed to alphabetical.--Tim Thomason 04:31, April 21, 2010 (UTC)
      • Um, Claire was in the credits for the pilot. She just wasn't credited in the episodes she didn't appear in until she returned. She was a regular. --Golden Monkey 03:48, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Alphabetical by first name
Alphabetical by Actors' Last name (pretty random)
  • Oh ... now I get it. Still I think that such a navbar's priority should be easier navigation, so I still say we should use plain old alphabetical order. Perhaps the chronological order could be used elsewhere? --LeoChris 04:42, April 21, 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad the line breaks were removed, but I can explain their logic. It was to stop lines from beginning or ending with a "•" and to stop the "(X)"s from being seperated from their character. It was set to work on all screen resolutions, including 800x600. However, the version before they were removed only worked on the Monaco skin. Pages are slightly thinner in Monobook, due to a blank column that used to be ad space. So it was a bit messed-up in 800x600 Monobook. But yeah, I think the line breaks are better off removed than repositioned.
I agree, it should be alphabetical by the characters' names. Very few people will understand it being listed the actor's surnames. The order the actors' names appeared seems insignificant to the characters' themselves. Maybe alphabetical by character names is too, but it's still neater in my opinion. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:41, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  • Changed to alphabetical by character's first names. If the order has to be explained in a long-drawn out paragraph and still seems very arbitrary and random, then it's not a very good order. Thus ends my noble experiment.--Tim Thomason 04:17, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
