Locke receives a phone call in ("The Shape of Things to Come")

Telephones are items that occur frequently on Lost. Below is a list of significant appearances phones have made. They are generally used on the show to pass along significant information, and are hardly ever used lightly.

Season OneEdit

• Boone tried to phone someone on his cell phone, but it didn't work. ("Pilot, Part 2")
• Locke talked to Helen on the phone. ("Walkabout")

Season TwoEdit

Mathias calls Penny, informing her they "found it" in ("Live Together, Die Alone, Part 2")

• Sabrina Carlyle called Shannon to inform her that Adam Rutherford had been in a car accident. ("Abandoned")
• Mathias called Penny, informing her they "found it" ("Live Together, Die Alone, Part 2")

Season ThreeEdit

• Sarah spoke to someone over the phone several times, prompting anger from Jack. ("A Tale of Two Cities")
• Jack called Sarah's contacts, and found Christian's number was one of those listed. ("A Tale of Two Cities")
• Kate talked to Kevin Callis over the phone while shopping. ("I Do")
• While searching for a phone, Locke was thrown out a window by Anthony Cooper. ("The Man from Tallahassee")
• Naomi was discovered to have a satellite phone, as did the other freighters. For other occurrences of satellite phones, see here. ("D.O.C.")
• Jack called Kate once on his cell phone and was unable to reach her. The second time, he arranged a meeting between them. ("Through the Looking Glass, Part 1")

Frank calls the hotline in ("Confirmed Dead")

Season FourEdit

• A telephone hotline was offered following the revelation of 815's "discovery," which Frank called. ("Confirmed Dead")
• Sayid used a cell phone to update Ben on his work, before throwing the phone into a nearby trash receptacle. ("The Economist")
• Elsa used a cell phone to contact her employer to tell him about Sayid. ("The Economist")
• During his time-jumping, Desmond called Penny several times in 1994, and once in 2004 from the freighter. ("The Constant")
• Sun called the hospital when she went into labor. ("Ji Yeon")
• Michael talked to Tom on a cell phone when he had second thoughts about killing the freighter crew. After Tom's convincing, Michael subsequently threw the phone into the water. ("Meet Kevin Johnson")

Desmond calls Penny in ("The Constant")

• Michael talked to Ben over the phone while on the freighter. ("Meet Kevin Johnson")
• Locke received a call in the barracks, which was an automated voice repeating "Code 14J." This was presumably activated by the fence being turned off. ("The Shape of Things to Come")
• Sun received a call from Mrs. Paik before she mets Charles Widmore. ("There's No Place Like Home, Part 2")

Season FiveEdit

• Sun tried to phone someone. ("Because You Left")
• Kate considered calling Jack and then received a phone call from Sun. ("The Lie")
• Jack called Ben to tell him that Sayid showed up at the hospital. ("The Lie")
• Hurley called Jack and told him that he was in L.A. County lockup. ("The Little Prince")
• Jack called Kate. ("The Little Prince")
• Mrs. Paik called Sun to ask her where she was. ("This Place Is Death")
• Jack received a phone call. ("316")
• Ben called Jack and told him to pick up Locke's body. ("316")
• A flight attendant called Frank to tell him that Jack wanted to talk to him. ("316")

TriviaEdit

• Jack's KRZR mobile phone was one of the key clues that the flashes in "Through the Looking Glass, Part 1" were flashforwards, because that model was released in late 2006.
