Rename to zodiac raftEdit

  • It has now been refered to several times within the show as the Zodiac raft, so I propose the page be renamed as such. --DarthTom
    • Agreed, it should be renamed. Malachi 03:42, 2 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Does a more recent name trump an earlier name given for it? Should we be shilling for brand names when the function of the boat may be more descriptive? Robert K S (talk) 07:41, 2 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Zodiac raft is actually more specific. Who's to know what 'ship' it's talking about if it just says "Ship's tender"? And who really calls those rafts "tenders" after all? --DarthTom
    • Agree, it's been called the "Zodiac raft" much more than it's been called the "ship's tender."Wstonefi 19:21, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree - --CTS 19:24, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree--Anfield Fox 00:44, 5 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree, but perhaps it should simply be called "Zodiac," since it's not really a raft. By the way, Robert, 'Zodiac' has become a monopolistic name for inflatable dinghies much like 'Band-aid' or 'Xerox.' Scarecrow 01:01, 6 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree --LeoChris 08:57, 7 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree --Orhan94 10:07, 10 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree --Mistertrouble189 18:45, 13 June 2008 (PDT)

Edit? Edit

From article: "When Sayid arrived on the Island Faraday took over and took five survivors, including Sun and Jin to Kahana". Didn't Faraday take six survivors rather than 5? (Sun, Jin, 3 unamed and Aaron = 6 correct?) --Mistertrouble189 10:51, 15 June 2008 (PDT)

  • You are correct. It was my mistake: I clearly remembered that he took 5 Redshirts on the second trip and counted only adults on the first one. Fixing it now Malachi 14:32, 15 June 2008 (PDT)

Just an idea Edit

An idea could be to make a chart/table or something noting who went on the first or 2nd trip? Like the first would be Sun, Jin, Aaron, Faraday and then the pictures of the 3 extras and same idea for the 2nd trip? May not be necessary for there will probably won't be any more Zodiac trips. But just an idea.--Mistertrouble189 15:16, 16 June 2008 (PDT)

  • I think that would be a great idea. If you don't want to do it I'll try when i get me login problems setteled. --LostCloverfield42 21:10, 27 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Cool, if you or anyone else can do it, go for it. I'm not good at doing that kind of stuff, but I'll oversee it and add any necessary edits.--Mistertrouble189 21:21, 27 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Nice work LostCloverfield, now for the 2nd raft trip, I know that Steve and Craig was on it as well as the woman played by 'Lisa'. I think you posted somewhere who the survivors who went on the 2nd trip.--Mistertrouble189 10:39, 29 June 2008 (PDT)
Theses two extras were seen on the second trip aswell. --Ryan76el 10:51, 29 June 2008 (PDT)

Bg-steve-tanizaki-3x21promo.jpg Bg-midunknown01-3x21promo.jpg

(In case your not reading the underlying code), the guy on the left is Steve Tanizaki and the guy on the right is Unknown #1. If anyone has the episodes on your computer, can you check to confirm my grouping? They're best seen when Juliet tells Daniel she's staying behind until everyone is off the Island and when they duck after Ben turns the frozen donkey wheel. I think it's a great idea to do this and I would say the 2nd trip had: (looking at the boat from the rear, from rear to front): on the right: Daniel, Craig and Unknown #1 and on the left: Steve Tanizaki, Steve/Scott and Lisa. If we agree, I think we can publish that list (or "leest" as Mikhail would say). Sorry about the Steve/Scott thing, I'm a Sceve obsessive. :-) Since I think it's a given that Daniel Faraday is going to be back for season 5, I would suggest we list them as "Unconfirmed alive, presumed to have moved with the Island" or something like that. Henry Holland 01:10, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

  • Ok, I did the second table but, I'm not sure on how to get smaller mini pictures for the table, if anyone could do this I would greatly appreciate it. --LostCloverfield42 18:52, 3 July 2008 (PDT)
  • Nice LostCloverfield. I think we should use those 2 pictures above for the table. The current Unknown #1 is a little blurry and the Steve T, above is more focused on him?--Mistertrouble189 21:11, 3 July 2008 (PDT)

Occurrence of product placement Edit

the Zodiac raft along with the Halliburton case is one of the only occurences of product placement on the show. I think it should be mentioned in a trivia section or a page of it's own called "product placement". what is your opinion? should it get it's own page, or it's own section? --CharlieReborn 01:55, 28 September 2008 (PDT)

  • As said above, "'Zodiac' has become a monopolistic name for inflatable dinghies much like 'Band-aid' or 'Xerox." --Golden Monkey 13:42, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Frogurt on the ZodiacEdit

Well I wish the producers had put him on the Zodiac during "There's No Place Like Home, Part 3", because from what we saw then he wasn't on it. Does anyone know who the redshirt that Frogurt replaced is? -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 04:23, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

  • I can check once the screencaps come out on Lostmedia. But I def saw the only female passenger.--Mistertrouble189 04:30, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
  • I'm pretty sure Craig was there too, if I had to guess, I'd say the one missing is probably the cacausian unnamed male ... Isn't Frogurt wearing similar clothing ? Maybe the extra was intended to be just a stand-in (like that shot of the Tailies in early s2) --LeoChris 05:45, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Looking at the screenshots, I see Neil, Faraday, Craig, the woman and one more who I think is the "Unknown Male". It cpuld be Steve Jenkins. But I def. did not see Steve Tanazki. Neil may have replaced him. Also table needs an update on statuses plus the addition of Neil.--Mistertrouble189 23:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Why the Zodiac raft came with them, confirmed Edit

After the first several flashes, the Zodiac is still on the beach, even though the beach camp has disappeared:

[Sawyer dons the shirt and walks toward the Zodiac, where Juliet is examining the engine.]
SAWYER: Still in one piece?
JULIET: As far as I can tell.
SAWYER: I figured it would've disappeared with the rest of our stuff.
JULIET: I guess whatever we had with us when we moved is along for the ride.

In the latest podcast, Damon confirms that Juliet has it right, and the rules for objects transported during "turn-of-the-wheel" flashes are slightly different than for objects transported during "non-turn-of-the-wheel" flashes:

CARLTON CUSE: Damon, "Why did some items disappear and others didn't when individuals were shifting through time. Boats did not disappear as well as some other items that were clearly from other times, like the Zodiac..." Y'know, what--what's up with all of that? What are the rules of that?
DAMON LINDELOF: I--I think the characters have discussed what the rules are, and what they came up with is pretty much the same is what we've come up with as writers, which is, when the initial flash happened, that is, when Ben first turned the donkey wheel, if--if--if you were touching something, for example, you were holding on to a jar of peanut butter, or you were in--in a Zodiac, or wearing your clothes, then whatever you were tou--physically in contact with came with them. And was a--was with that group for any flashes subsequent to that. So the Zodiac was--Faraday was riding in the Zodiac along with Frogurt and some others at the time of the initial flash, and therefore, any time that the sky flashed beyond that point, the Zodiac would actually move with them, although, when they returned to the beach, it--it appears that somebody has taken the Zodiac. But, if they're not touching something, objects from other times do not travel with them. So...
CARLTON CUSE: What about dead bodies?
DAMON LINDELOF: Well, Charlotte does not travel--
CARLTON CUSE: Hm, interesting.
DAMON LINDELOF: --um, does not travel with Faraday when the final flash occurs, but--who knows?--there might be different properties because that was a wheel-related flash, too.
CARLTON CUSE: Right.
DAMON LINDELOF: So when Locke, uh, moves the wheel again and everything returns back to the way it should be, they haven't really postulated on the rules, there. But, we also--we also know that when Alpert gives Locke the compass, which is something that Locke gave to Alpert back in 1954, Locke is able to bring that compass with him, so you can bring objects from other time periods with you, as long as you are in physical proximity to them.
