Great job, Pandora - I think its really good with the A-Z template, and the Frappr map is really cool. The only thing I could think of would be a right-aligned picture under certain subsections, like one of Fiji etc (though it'd take ages to do it). Might have a play about tomorrow if thats ok (you can always just revert afterwards if you don't like) --Nickb123 (Talk) 16:11, 3 September 2006 (PDT)

Sure, any additions like small thumbnails to the side would be cool by me... have a go at it. Thanks. --PandoraX 16:17, 3 September 2006 (PDT)

I'm gonna add side pictures to A, G, F, L, M, N, P, S and T - they all have realistic room for an image without causing overlaps. I could use breakings of course but when the section is small it leaves quite a huge gap... Leave it with me and I'll message you when I've done my changes --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:55, 4 September 2006 (PDT)
Done and done. Went a little OTT as usual...thoughts Pandora? --Nickb123 (Talk) 04:24, 4 September 2006 (PDT)
I think it looks cool, very colorful, almost like a formal travel agent might hand out :) Left you a msg in your 'inbox'. --PandoraX 06:51, 4 September 2006 (PDT)
Saw. Afterwards I thought "erm maybe should have put Lost pictures...." but actually I think just the locations are good as it shows how widespread the show is meant to be. Plus the show images wouldn't look that different seeing as its entirely shot in Hawaii, this gives a nicer range --Nickb123 (Talk) 06:54, 4 September 2006 (PDT)

This is an awesome addition to Lostpedia! Great Job!--scocub

Thanks scocub & welcome to lostpedia... Nick, I am ok without show images personally, Santa has a great page on filming locations (linked from bottom of this page too), which correlates the scenes to actual set well. Just IMHO, anyway. Oh, and I changed the map from Frappr, I was really getting tired of all their messy garbage; I found a program that hacks google maps, for a much cleaner map. I will update that as the show updates new locations. --PandoraX 08:26, 5 September 2006 (PDT)

Iowa[]

I'm going to leave this entry in as a state, but please don't make entries for every state without doing a search for city first (we already had Des Moines, IA & Cedar Rapids, IA at the time)... we don't need entries for "California" "Tennessee", etc, clogging up the page when they are already mentioned. --PandoraX 07:51, 9 September 2006 (PDT)

  • It's a lot easier to search for a state or a country than it is a specific city. Also, many places have been the setting for multiple notible events, and probably deserve to have their own page, such as Sydney or California. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Randomstranger (talkcontribs) .
  • Please see my msg on your talk page regarding California, there are too many connections which are not unusual for an international flight to CA; just not unusual to find the large majority of passengers have a past connected to the state. The discussion was already made in the past to merge many of these locations pages, though I think the argument could be made for reopening pages like Iowa (but probably not Sydney or California for the reasons above)--PandoraX 21:28, 13 November 2006 (PST)

Restructuring like nav chart[]

Now that most of the cities are getting sucked into individual country pages, this page is seeming kind of pointless. Definitely an A-Z by city format is useless if not all the cities are here. By country is better I think. Maybe we could use it in one of the following ways: 1) Just use it with a similar format to the locations navigator chart, with countries on the left and cities/locations on the right with bullets between them (maybe with an image for each country) 2) As with number 1, but instead of making a seperate page for each country, keep the info about the minor ones here I think I prefer just making one for each country even if they start out stubby, but #2 is fine too. If there's no objections I'd like to go ahead and do it. Consensus? --Jackdavinci 16:26, 18 February 2007 (PST)

No There's a reason it's structured like this. It article was made by request, because there were a million different articles scattered throughout the site, and there was a consensus to merge it here. And yes, it is complete, to my knowledge. If it gets to the point where it is too long, the way it will be separated is alphabetically, so people can still look up, for instance, cities A-F, G-M, etc. The only reason there is some redundency allowed with the US page was so that they could also be cross-listed by state. --PandoraX 15:59, 25 February 2007 (PST)
Alright PandoraX disagrees and no one cares so I'm taking down the banner. I guess I agree that a page like this is useful but I think we should have another page also which compactly organizes the places by heirarchical region. I'll work on that later :-) --Jackdavinci 12:43, 8 March 2007 (PST)

Portland[]

Is there a reason we are assuming both references to Portland are Portland, Oregon and not Portland, Maine? Tygartl1 09:08, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Well the producers said in the commentary for Man Behind the Curtain on the Season 3 DVDs that Ben was born outside of Portland, OR. --Gluphokquen Gunih 08:12, 27 January 2008 (PST)
  • I was about to make the point above, and also, in Not in Portland, Richard originally states that Mittelos Bioscience is in Portland, Oregon. Which, of course, he amends to "not quite" in Portland. -- WanderingMathematician  talk  contribs  email  08:29, 27 January 2008 (PST)

Ontario[]

Is there a reason we are assuming both references to Ontario are Ontario, Canada and not Ontario, California? Frink Labs 10:40, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

  • Ontario, California is not as popular as the Canadian province, thus if they were meaning the city, they would have to say "Ontario, California." If someone were just to say they were from "Ontario" to a group of people not exclusively from SoCal, it would be extremely likely they're referring to Canada. Also, there's the recurring joke about Canada in Lost where people who mention they are from Canada (Kate, Sawyer, Jeremy Bentham, etc) are in fact lying. Thus Ethan and Anthony Cooper's lie of Ontario is likely referring to Canada as well. -JamesyWamesy 17:10, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
    • Any possibility that Rom and Cooper were counting on the existence of more than one Ontario to obfuscate their information? Anecdotally, I am from Toronto but don't tell people I am from Ontario as I don't believe that people outside of Canada are even aware of province names. However, if I was in SoCal and was stopped by the police, I could say I was from Ontario and would not really be lying... Frink Labs 03:22, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Canada[]

Does anyone else agree that Canada should get its own page? I feel that the importance of that country as a plot device is significant enough that it should get its own page. Germany has its own page and it only has a handful of places mentioned on it. I could be biased because I live here but I sorta feel that it's warranted. Your thoughts? Bigfunkymonkey 03:36, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure it needs it's own page, but I would agree it definitely deserves one more than Germany. But then again I'm also a biased Canadian -JamesyWamesy 22:43, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
