Czech[]

*In the Czech Republic there are 2 channels that air Lost, AXN & Nova. While AXN is on season 2, Nova is only just starting season 1. Each station has its own voice actor for each character so most characters will have 2 voice actors beside them. With the exception of an characters who appear in season 2, and Bohdan Tůma who dubs Hurley on both AXN and Nova.

  • I removed the above, and separate the Czech section into two separate columns, one for AXN and one for Nova (Following the similar separation of the Spanish language lists). Someone knowledgeable should go through and repopulate the second column to make this correct. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  22:43, 10 January 2007 (PST)
  • Done, I wasn't sure exactly how we wanted to organize them so I left the Czech dubbers in 1 column, but have changed it now.--Mr.Leaf 09:56, 12 January 2007 (PST)

An article for voice actors for each character[]

I might as well throw this out there, but what is everyone's opinion on making a page for say all the voice actors who do each character? Say Voice actors (Jack) or Jack (Voice actors). The reason I suggest this is because we have only done a few of the pages for the voice actors and most of them are very empty, with a line saying the character they dub and a few more famous actors they have dubbed for in the past. My point is, as we move down to the lesser known characters and likely the lesser known voice actors, as well as into the more obscure and harder to research languages (such as Japanese) we are going to get a lot of stubs and pages lacking any real content or purpose. Making an article for all the actors who play Jack, with a section and a template for each would organize them more, and would be much easier to do, and less time consuming. But it doesn't strictly have to be this way, we could redirect the name of each character to that page, and if a voice actor has enough information that he/she would no longer be a stub then we could move that person to their own page, and redirect from the voice actors page. Articles such as that for Carlos Bautista really have no purpose by them self. An article with numerous actors from all different languages on it, would have some purpose. What are your thoughts on this?--Mr.Leaf 13:07, 12 January 2007 (PST)

May be better to group them by countries? And remove all personal voice actor pages.. --Znch 08:16, 4 March 2007 (PST)
I made that comment a while ago when there were not voice actor articles, we decided it was better to do an article for each voice actor and have done so since, so ignore by above comment, and all the current voice actor articles are staying. It would be too confusing with them all in one page for each country, regarding redirects etc. -Mr.Leaf 09:46, 4 March 2007 (PST)

Changes[]

  • When creating a voice article page you may now add a second character to the infobox(if the voice actor dubbs more than 1 character). The field in the infobox is "Chracter2".
  • Also make sure to add the character to the correct categories. For:
  • a) The language he/she dubs in.
  • b) The character he/she dubs for.
  • I have created a section for stubs just on voice actors. Please add {{voice-stub}} instead of the the normal stub template now.

Thanks. --Mr.Leaf 17:48, 20 January 2007 (PST)

  • I wouldn't have a clue how to begin helping with adding on voice actors, but just wanted to comment that you guys are doing an amazing job. --PandoraX 11:08, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • Good work on the voice stub. - Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  13:54, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • Thanks guys and I've added a 3rd and 4th character options for the infobox as I noticed a voice actor who has 3 characters he dubs for and thought I would add a fourth spot while I'm at it just in case. The fields are of course "Character3" and "Character4".-Mr.Leaf 16:44, 26 January 2007 (PST)

  • Another change. I created Category:Voice actor images to help keep track of all the images we use. Please add the cat to any images you guys upload for voice actors. Thanks Mr.Leaf 09:56, 28 January 2007 (PST)

Japanese[]

  • I'm thinking of changing the roman representation of the Japanese names in the normal order: first name, last name, since that follows the precedent of two other names that normally follow the opposite order in their countries: Yoon-jin Kim and Yuna Ito (they are known as Kim Yoon-jin and Ito Yuna). However, I'd probably keep the Japanese characters in the original order of lastname-firstname. Still thinking... and waiting to decide on this before creating more articles.
BTW I checked out the two chinese wikipedia pages (1, 2), and from what I could gather, the tables did not list voice actors; they either represent the actor's name, the character's name, or the description of who their character is; however as we can't really read it, it's hard to tell if there's a link to a separate voice actor article (I did find an episode listing article, for example). -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  13:52, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • I think switching the Japanese names around would make more sense, as when we start making the pages for them, we would ideally like the page names to be first name, last name. For the chart to link to them we would have to create last name, first name pages for each voice actor as well and make it a redirect. At any rate I think it would just be easier to switch the names around. But It really doesn't matter.
  • OK, done. Japanese names in A-Z Latin alphabet are now ordered normally: first name, then last name. However the Japanese character versions of these names have been left untouched: these are last name, then first name. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  23:14, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • And yes, I have been searching numerous pages for the last couple weeks trying to find more lists of voice actors for different languages without success. It is really difficult to tell what is what when each page needs to be translated. Mr.Leaf 14:01, 21 January 2007 (PST)
    • To aid in the process of elimination, I've added a section for countries where voice actors are not utilized (i.e., it's dubbed). -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  14:18, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • I beleive you mean i.e it's subtitled above, and good idea however I think It would be better if moved to below the subsections for each language, as 75% of the countries lost airs in it is subtitled. Perhaps we should organize it into a table or something as the current list is quite long. And to help here, I added the section below. --Mr.Leaf 17:35, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • OK, go ahead and do what you think is best. For now I'll remove the bullets and let it slide into paragraph form. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  23:16, 21 January 2007 (PST)
  • Maybe another resource here. Mainly writing this URL here for my notes. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  20:25, 27 January 2007 (PST)

Countries with Voice actors not already added[]

This section is a list of countries in which voice actors are utilized but we do not have lists for them yet. Just as reference when searching for more voice actors. Please feel free to add to this list or remove when we have the voice actors added.

  • Hungary - Lost known as Eltűntek. Domain: .hu
  • Update: found some more websites (added to Hungary article) - I wrote to two website operators asking for help on voice actors.
  • Slovakia - Lost known as Nezvestní. Domain: .sk
  • Dubbing in Slovak reads: Slovenský dabing
  • Well I posted to their forums here
  • Ukraine - Lost known as Загублені (Zahubleni). Domain: .ua

--Mr.Leaf 17:35, 21 January 2007 (PST)

  • When I made the list I thought it would be too since it is such a big country with such a large population. However I couldn't really find any evidence to support that it was. I did do a search for voice actors or any reference to the dubbing of Lost in Russia but I couldn't find any. I've tried contacting a user who is Russian and has been active recently to see if we can hopefully get an answer. I've also asked about the Ukrainian voice actors as seems to have edited the Ukrainian page quite a bit.Mr.Leaf 13:02, 25 January 2007 (PST)

more resources[]

Unknown Characters[]

This is a list (mainly created for my own reference) of characters who are not credited, therefore don't have article on Lostpedia, yet have voice actors in various langauges:

German

Gefangener (Prisoner) - Amadeus Meaini in "Confidence Man"
Sawyers Freundin (Sawyer's Friend) - Deborah Weigert in "Outlaws"
Trauergast (Mourning Guest) - Elmar Gutmann in "Abandoned"

-Mr.Leaf 10:38, 28 January 2007 (PST)

Glenn Cannon[]

I'm not sure I agree with categorizing Glenn Cannon as a voice actor for the priest. Certainly nothing was shown, but he was cast for the part, and was very likely filmed as that character (with those scenes cut). The other roles (india dupre's dubbing, the computer, and narrators) are clearly intended as a voice actor role, and were cast as such. The priest role was probably not cast as a voice actor role, and that would be my starting assumption barring other direct evidence. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  15:11, 28 January 2007 (PST)

  • Okay, I guess I see what you're saying. I removed him from the cat.Mr.Leaf 15:32, 28 January 2007 (PST)

Organization[]

Just a thought. As we continue to add and add voice actors I just keep adding new characters (that are not already on the chart) onto the bottom, above the original cast voice actors. And thanks to the Germans and Italians we have almost all the characters from Season 1 and 2 on the chart. So I thought about perhaps somehow organizing the chart. Here are the options:

First I think we should keep the main characters at the top therefore all we have to organize are the guest stars below them. So everyone above Paulo would stay

Now the options for the guest stars:

1) Order by name. Which wouldn't be too hard, except for that fact some characters don't have names and some don't have last names. So likely we would organize something like Category:Guest stars. We would have to decide on how we want to organize it if we do it this way.

2) Order of appearance. This would not be too hard either. It would take some time but it would allow for characters for Season 3 once they have voice actors to be added to the bottom of the chart in order. If we do this however we would have to decide on whether to add rows for characters with no voice actors at the moment, just so they are in the correct spot and there in case we need them.

3) Leave it the way it is. I have no problem with this, just thought I would suggest we organize it to see if anyone thought we should.

And I would be glad to organize it once we decide how we want to. -Mr.Leaf 18:53, 4 February 2007 (PST)

Here's another thought: What if the voice actors were somehow a little less prevalent when someone is randomizing through Lostpedia? What with all the languages LOST gets broadcast in theres getting me a cumbersome amount of articles on voice actors. And honestly, who really cares in case you happen to be curious enough to look it up? I dunno. I think it detracts from the Wiki. Big time. Discuss.

Possible future lists[]

Mainly writing these here for my own purpose for future reference as they might come in handy:

sk.Wikipedia - Has list for Voice actors in chart but currently empty, should keep an eye on it. Slovak Forum - Just in case someone responds to Santa's post. Might try and translate what they are saying later.

Spanish Voice actors[]

I need your opinions on this. I was going back through the Spanish voice actors and found our source lists Arturo Mercado as the dubbing director of the Spanish (Mexico and Latin American) broadcasts. However we also on our list have him listed as Sawyer along with Iván Muelas in the Spanish (Spain) broadcasts. This source does not list him as Sawyer however the Anime News Network does for the Spanish broadcasts although does not sepecify which one. His wikipedia entry lists him as a Mexican voice actor and doesn't even mention Lost. So I'm torn as to what to trust and do with him. Here are our options:

1) Leave him as Sawyer (Spain). Although if anything he is Sawyer in the Mexican broadcasts.

2) Move him to Sawyer for the Spanish (Mexican) as above.

3) Remove him from Sawyer for both Mexican and Spanish.

4) Leave him as dubbing director for Spanish (Mexican)

I'm not sure what combination of those options we want to do, although I'm definitely leaning towards removing him from the Spanish (Spain) cat, even as Sawyer put him in Mexican, as he clearly Mexican and not from Spain. So that leaves 2,3 and 4. What are your thoughts guys?

P.S. I've also found a couple more actors listed on the Anime News Network as characters we already have (for Spanish, although not specified which one). So I'm not sure what to do with them, I'll post them later when I have time. Thanks -Mr.Leaf 12:00, 14 February 2007 (PST)

Hi! I just made some corrections to this. Arturo Mercado is a Mexican actor, and he does work on Lost. Anime News Network, good site but one which always gets things second hand and suffers from translation errors (they often list "QEPD" as part of a character name when in fact it's the equivalent of RIP, used on dub or "doblaje" sites to note when an actor is deceased). Mercado dubbed Michael Dawson, not Ford (I don't know how Anime News Network got that), and his son, Arturo Mercado Jr., dubbed Boone Carlyle. Mercado has worked on a lot of Disney/ABC dubs; as far as I;ve been able to determine, "Chacon" may have been his birth name, but it's not how he's generally credited or what he uses professionally; I've only seen that appendage on the page you list and a few forums discussing his work in the dub of Pixar's Cars, so I'm inclined to take that with a grain of salt myself. In general, for the Mexican dub, I'd go by this page, run by people *in* Mexico who receive press releases and info on dubs, rather than Anime News Network. It's a much scantier list than those for other languages, but it's also fairly accurate, and clears up any confusion between the Mexican/Latin American Spanish and the dubs from Spain (in Castilian Spanish, thus the reason for the multiple versions; similarly, French dubs are sometimes divided between formal French and Quebecois French, with differences in dialect as well as slang and grammar and phrasing). Hope this helps! -- Aleal 09:08, 10 March 2007 (PST)
Thanks for your help. It's really appreciated, we can only do so much with translations.-Mr.Leaf 12:41, 11 March 2007 (PDT)

Russian[]

Notes:

  • Dubbing = дубляж , MIGHT also be: многоголосый
  • Russian dubbing = Русский дубляж
  • Lost= Остаться в живых
  • ru.Wikipedia
  • Forums at kinopoisk.ru brought up this thread, entitled Переводы и дубляжи, which google tells me means "Translations and dubleaji". I found the thread doing a search for Igor Taradaikin in cyrillic (Игорь Тарадайкин), so perhaps those photos are of the dubbing actor. I've found that many other dubbing actor names are very common names shared by lots of other people whose images are online. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  20:39, 28 February 2007 (PST)

  • Thanks so much Sricsci! How did you find us? Are you from one of the websites I emailed? -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  10:36, 29 July 2007 (PDT)
    • OK with the help of some of these names I located many websites with voice actors. Here are two: [14] and [15]; In the second link search for the word "Szinkronhang" which means voice actor. I'll go through these at some point and see if we're missing any. I may start work on articles first though. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  11:03, 29 July 2007 (PDT)
    • Hm I think we have a name order issue, what do you think? I think the last names are listed first above, so it might be like the japanese names where we have to reverse the order. I think Bela and Roland are first names, for example, and the IMDB for Németh Kriszta lists her as Kriszta Németh. Actually for further support, looking at the fansite here, I recognize a lot of first names coming second, like Zsuzsa, Marta, József, Péter, and so forth. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  11:29, 29 July 2007 (PDT)
  • Agreed, as I was adding them a lot looked like they were reversed. As long as we create redirects I don't think it really matters. Also I've created the nav for the main Hungarian ones (aside from Mikhail and Mars I think) and If you want I can go through those links and see if we've missed any before we go all out with articles for them. -Mr.Leaf 11:51, 29 July 2007 (PDT)
