Canon?
I don't see anything about this on the Hyperion website. Any verification out there? BladeHamilton 21:22, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

It's most likely canon... If you view the HTML source of http://www.garytroupbooks.com/also.php (itself a mirror of http://www.garytroup.net/) you'll see that a lot of the site uses templates from http://www.unhookedgeneration.com/ which was a website designed by the same team to promote a previous book published by Hyperion Publishing called "Unhooked Generation" by Jillian Strauss (nothing like a bit of template reuse!) - c.f. http://www.hyperionbooks.com/titlepage.asp?ISBN=1401301320. I doubt an unofficial fansite would just copy the HTML of another Hyperion book that way. They would more likely sprinkle tonnes of references to Dharma, Hanso and Widmore everywhere. The site also features links to Disney Terms of Use and Privacy Statements. Admittedly the domain is registered by "Domains By Proxy" rather than directly to ABC/Disney/Hyperion but the rest of the site definitely feels legit. -- Radharc 08:40, 25 April 2006 (BST)
I'm a sceptic to these websites, but this one seems to be the real deal. I won't be totally convinced until I see one of the writers/creators confirm its existence though :-P --Jambalaya 01:31, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
- The site says ©Hyperion, which means a law suit if it's not true. It links to Disney and other official lost sites and to book stores where you can get Bad Twin, it even says that the author of the book is a fictional character. A lot of the site spells out 'official', none of it say it's not. There's no doubt of the authenticity so everything on the site, including 'The Valenzetti Equation' is canon. The site itself is probably part of The Lost Experience. --skks 01:33, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
- True, true. Btw, are any of the webpages (garytroup.net or garytroupbooks.com) mentioned in the Hyperion-books? Like, on the cover? --Jambalaya 01:39, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
- The actual book? Wouldn't know, Bad Twin hasn't been released yet and it's doubtful it will land on my shelf when it does. Hyperion itself isn't affiliated with Lost, it's affiliated with ABC/Disney, Bad Twin & Gary Troup however aren't affiliated to much beyond Lost. --skks 01:59, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
A recent post on the Fuselage forums confirms this site is legitimate by the way:
http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=46473
Someone contacted Hyperion directly and received confirmation: Yes, the garytroup.net is the official book site for Gary Troup's BAD TWIN novel.

Change focus?
Maybe this page should change focus to be about the equation itself as well as discussion of the book? Or should there be a page for the book and a page for the equation separately? BladeHamilton 11:12, 3 July 2006 (PDT)
I would say put the two on the same page for now, since both the equation and the book share the same name, and the book seems to be about nothing except the equation at this point (and the equation doesn't seem like much else except something to predict the apocalypse with). --PandoraX 20:18, 3 July 2006 (PDT)
Valenzetti Equation Website in Game?
Speaker has put up the link to www.valenzettiequation.com now on his site. This was discussed previously, but we weren't sure it were real or not; now that Speaker is talking about it, I'm thinking it is. There's more info on the book in there, should I post it up? Also, my friend has the reverse engineered equation itself... technically not a spoiler, since it scrolls over the front page as a transparent layer. --PandoraX 20:20, 3 July 2006 (PDT)
Fermat's last Theorem
Hello my name is Stefan and i am from Germany .Please vorgive me my bad english .
This sentence makes me a bit confused: "(he is best known for allegedly torching his proof of Fermat's last theorem after it was verified by a group of colleagues)."
The puzzle of Fermats last theorem is detached by Andrew Wiles a british Mathematician. He use some cognitions they discovered by the Japan mathematicians Yutaka Taniyama and Goro Shimura and by the German mathematician Gerhard Frey .
Goro Shimura Gerhard Frey and Andrew Wiles are a live . Yutaka Taniyama beginning suicid with a strange farewell letter .
Gerhard Frey is profssor for Mathematic in Germany . He answer all questions in german and in english . If you want talk with gerhard Frey about mathematic things ... write him a mail . http://www.exp-math.uni-essen.de/zahlentheorie/people/frey.html
After my opinion have Fermat's last theorem no mysteries all questions are answered.
With freindly greetings Stefan . --87.171.74.79 01:44, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
