Edit

I have a horrible television, but I think I saw a Wave or a Palm tree as the logo, anyone have a screencap?Fralfman 19:11, 6 March 2008 (PST)

DiscovererEdit

Does Juliet belong in the list of discoverers? Presumably she knew about the station all along and had been to it before. Robert K S (talk) 22:13, 6 March 2008 (PST)

Good point. However, think of it... Daniel and Charlotte knew about the tempest all along too. They even acted like they have been there before. --     Nusentinsaino     talk    contribs    email   22:14, 6 March 2008 (PST)
If they had been there before, they wouldn't have needed a map to get there... I think they just trained well for their mission. Robert K S (talk) 22:15, 6 March 2008 (PST)
True. I think I agree with you... Juliet did not 'discover' it, she knew about it.. and knew where it is. So let's exclude her as the discoverer. --     Nusentinsaino     talk    contribs    email   22:17, 6 March 2008 (PST)

Not the OrchidEdit

When photos of this station were going around, people were saying it was The Orchid. But a tidal wave does make more sense as a storm than a flower. I wonder if it will tie into the tsunami due any day now?--Jackdavinci 23:30, 6 March 2008 (PST)

Part of the confusion was caused by Doc Jensen's column stating that the station appearing in Week 6 would be The Orchid. And, loath as I am to accept it, it would appear that the introduction of The Tempest on the day of the Indian Ocean Earthquake is as much connection to the tsunami as LOST is going to give us.TheBookPolice 12:20, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

The computer Edit

The article states that one of the computers are responsible for "releasing the gas". We can clearly see the commands Daniel is entering into it and one of them is telnet. Telnet is and old way of connecting to other computers. That indicates that the computer itself is not responsible for the gas release, rather a terminal for connecting to a mainframe that controls the power station. Since he constantly gets "connection refused" after trying to connect to the tmpst4 computer with "telnet tmpst4" one can assume that the computer can do other duties as well. But I would not say that there would be a computer inside the Tempest dedicated to releasing the gas into the atmosphere. A2 01:46, 7 March 2008 (PST)

I have logged all the code Dan is entering in - it is in The Other Woman article, in trivia section - and it does seem that the Telnet command is always refused (even in the moment very near stopping the gas). The logged code from the article, however, never apears in whole, I just rewrote the code visible (it is still repeating over and over) and then put it together into one long code. --Running 16:26, 9 March 2008 (PDT)

The 'Tempest' bunker at Kualoa Ranch Edit

If nothing else, this is interesting view of the Tempest as seen in real life... http://farm1.static.flickr.com/251/462513782_0332c22e9b_m.jpg from a blog http://nojam75.blogspot.com/2007/04/hawaii.html --J.nc 12:53, 7 March 2008 (PST)

New revelation from Carlton Edit

Carlton Cuse mentioned in the latest official podcast that the Tempest is on the Blast Door map. --The Cartographer 23:20, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

Cool. So is it C3 or C4? C3 has "Possible manufacturing facility with light industrial equipment" noted near so maybe it's there. What other clues do we have?--TechNic|talk|conts 00:52, 11 March 2008 (PDT)
C3 also mentions mountainous terrain, which we saw around the Tempest. --Thenumbersdude 08:57, 12 March 2008 (PDT)

I forgot to mention that they said the Others did use it for the purge and that DHARMA was experimenting with chemical weapons. Sorry if this is a spoiler but I thought it should be mentioned. --The Cartographer 10:16, 11 March 2008 (PDT)

Carlton Cuse in the podcast: "But we know that there's this station that--at some point, the DHARMA Initiative was gassed and we were wondering, uh, where that came from. And the idea that the DHARMA Initiative, which was supposedly consisting of all these hippies, also had a station that's primarily manufacture was chemical weaponry, we thought, was an interesting story point fit to be set up for storytelling later." Robert K S (talk) 10:43, 11 March 2008 (PDT)

It seems obvious that this station never had anything to do with with "powering the island"--Catalanowned 22:48, 13 March 2008 (PDT)

Agreed. Considering Kate's comment about Juliet lying about its purpose. --The Cartographer 22:51, 13 March 2008 (PDT)

You can do more then one thing in a station. A lot of things Ben, Juliet, etc have said are always half-truths. So if I said the swan is involved in physiological research, I would be partially right; I might choose to omit the fact that there is some big magnetic reactor thing that operates on a 108 min cycle there too. There IS a difference between being completely open and honest, and very few people on lost fit into 'being open'. N1ck0 14:19, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

GoodwinEdit

It never explicitly says that Goodwin was stationed there and received his burn from there. That's fan speculation and should be removed. --Xbenlinusx 01:22, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

I disagree, in the episode Goodwin himself says that he works there when he first meets Juliet. --The Cartographer 07:44, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

Who Initiated the Release of the Gas? Edit

When Juliet makes her way into the Tempest, we see Daniel trying to stop the release of the gas and render it inert? But who caused the gas to be released in the first place. Did Daniel and Charlotte just happen to show up at the right time to stop it from being released?--Mastershake17 18:46, 23 March 2008 (PDT)

DHARMA probably installed some sort of security system incase the hostiles ever tried to render the gas inert. If anyone tried to tamper with it, it would automatically be released.--Catalanowned 02:45, 24 March 2008 (PDT)

Semi-new images Edit

Was on Dark's website the other day and saw some scans of the Lost mag, and on one of the scans were some pics of the Tempest station. I don't know, but maybe they could be used for the page. Here's the link:

Tempest Side Effects? Edit

Perhaps the the gas released from the tempest during the purge remained in trace amounts, or somehow led to the problems with pregnencies on the island?

This would make sense given the women having troubles were all (as far as we know) others when juliet was brought to the island

Mistermikeus 19:41, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Interesting theory, but is a theory and therefore belongs in theories section. Until some evidence is seen on the show then it can be put with the main article. --LOST-The Cartographer 19:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Cultural Reference Edit

In the movie "Dragnet" starring Tom Hanks and Dan Akroyd, a chemical weapons production facility is disguised as a milk factory and the interior set of the Tempest was filmed at an abandoned dairy. It probably doesn't really fit into the main article, but I thought it an funny coincidence.

Edit

There used to be a logo on here that had a larger wave in the middle of the octagon. That logo can be seen on the wall of the station, and is even on a t-shirt at ABC.com store. We should keep the image we have of the logo now, but I think that the old one should be brought back; and put a the bottom of the page in production notes, in the DHARMA logos page. --LOST-The Cartographer 21:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
