Game announced[]

Is anybody else as excited as I am?. :D *glee!* †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --10:34, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Well it depends, www & email are doable - billboards, phonecalls & commercials might be a bit more difficult task if you don't reside in the U.S. --skks 10:38, 24 April 2006 (PDT)
But, that's part of the game, worldwide collaboration! I just wonder how they will work in the fact that season 2 is just beginning in some parts of the world... --Bremerton 10:11, 25 April 2006 (EDT)
Also, different clues will be released on different continents, so collaboration is necessary to solving it. This article is going to grow a lot longer over the next few months. --PatrickLacey

More explanation...?[]

I'm new to this stuff. What, exactly, does it entail? Do we take tidbits we learn from wherever and just compile it all together here on Lostpedia?--Charugan 13:05, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Doesn't have to be here at Lostpedia - I am sure information will be shared on many sites and boards. It's a sort of scavenger hunt taking place "in real life"...websites, billboards, books, commercials, etc. The writers have said it will kick off with a commercial during the May 3 episode - I'm assuming it'll have a website or phone number. (My guess - a Widmore Labs ad!) --Bremerton 15:00, 25 April 2006 (PDT)

Bullets vs. Paragraphs[]

This is a question of style and aesthetics, I guess, but when I created this article this morning I wrote about three nice paragraphs. Next thing I know someone has converted them all to bullets, which, in my opinion, are much harder to read. A lot of really long articles around here are nothing but bullets, which looks really junky to my eyes. Is there a precedent for this? --Joezoo 17:53, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

I'll come forward as the converter. I've seen it done before; personally, I work with bullets better, but I guess it's just a personal preference kind of thing. Sorry to change it from what you had... Feel free to change it back. --Charugan 19:39, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Much obliged, sir. I'm not "anti-bullet," but I think they definitely work better with short thoughts or list items than with complete sentences and entire paragraphs. --Joezoo 21:16, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

UK Season 2 Premiere[]

So i've just finished watching triple bill of Season 2, the third episode being 'Orientation'. There were several adverts shown, of which one was repeated twice and the other was repeated three times.

The advert repeated twice was a new MI3 TV trailer that was introduced by JJ Abrams. The other trailer was an advert for the 'Hanso Foundation' with a phone number: 0800 66 66 40. I phoned up the number and (amusingly) a recorded voice suggests the caller check out the Hanso Foundation website for more information.

I guess this is the start of the 'Lost Experience' then!--deep 17:01, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Copied discussion from The Lost ARG entry[]

So far this is UK only, it's doubtful that the article remains anywhere near the same when the US ARG starts. This should probably be mentioned in the article. --skks 15:03, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

I'm afraid I havn't got time to do any transcribing on this tonight, but I will tomorrow if no-one else has. I presume this ARg will start soon in the US, and will have identical content (the mentions of Verizon, a US mobile carrier, in the phone calls means it isn't just for us in the UK). I'll do what I can to tidy it up and add more in the morning. This is fun :) --Beeglebug 23:14, 2 May 2006 (GMT)

Hi, I really think this is going to expand and expand and expand (having had ARG experience before). It needs to be treated as such. I really think we should have more sections. Like one for phone number, one for websites, Passwords, etc. Sezzyboy 15:18, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

As the game and this page grows, that will be possible. I'm sure there are plenty of quotes that will be lifted for lostpedia use! Russell 15:27, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

This page should be kept for discussion about the ARG itself. There should be links to mysteries on individual pages. Already, there was old info on this page which didn't match the main website article. Char 01:03, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

There needs to be a link on the front page to ARG discussion, this is going to be BIG when it starts rolling, and we need the whole Lospedia community to help. If it's anything like other ARG's i've participated in there may be prizes for those who 'complete' it first, and we want the Lostpedia to win! :) Beeglebug 01:07, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

there are no prizes--Arcon 04:41, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Usage[]

Hi, I recommend we use this page as a portal, taking the reader through the game as it plays out. I've already added a seperate page solely for the phone line information. Assuming there is more to come, i've split it into dates with each seperate message under a new heading so we can link to information easily. I suggest we use the front page ONLY to describe what's in the main articles and use those articles for all research and individual speculation in their own discussions. This page should be where all the Lost fans who are playing the ARG should come and get up-to-date quickly. --Arcon

I agree. What you describe is commonly called a "Guide" in ARG parlance. So you use other forums (such as yahoo groups, and unfiction) to identify and solve the puzzles as they arise, and this page to track what has been solved, how it was solved and what remains unsolved. Sould be great fun! Sezzyboy 12:28, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Add a category?[]

Could someone start a new category (or categories) for this game and move the new pages into it? I haven't been playing the game (yet...?) so with all the new pages popping up, it's not immediately clear to me what's part of the game and what's not. If there was a category, that would be helpful. Thanks. --Elvis 07:33, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Sure, if everyone who creates ANYTHING for this ARG could add the "Category: The Lost Experience" like the others, it would be helpful to track all these pages.--Arcon 13:02, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Need a page for verified and fan sites[]

Given the tendency for LOTS fans to make their own fan sites, maybe we should have a page that list various webpages that have come up and whether they are official or not (actually, that would be nice for lost sites just in general) BladeHamilton 09:36, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Nevermind, I just found the list of websites. BladeHamilton 10:02, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

Sites related to the game?[]

By doing some WHOIS lookups and other network trickery, I've managed to come up with a list of sites that are possibly related to the game -- it seems pretty evident that these sites are related, as they're either registered by ABC or call pages/images from an ABC-registered domain.

http://www.thehansofoundation.org - Verified as an ABC Web Site

http://www.widmore.com - Verified by WHOIS lookup as a registered Web Site to ABC, Inc.

My WHOIS lookup claims this is not an official site. Any more info?--Bremerton 06:27, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
my whois shows this to be an abc owned site. internic redirects to whois.wildwestdomains.com registered through chapter zero domains to abc inc, 77 w. 66th st in nyc. --firesign 12:56, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

http://www.minnesotametallurgy.com - Verified by WHOIS lookup as a site registered to Cameron Widmore, 320 W 66th St, New York, NY (Known address of ABC Studio for "The View").

http://www.thewidmoregroup.com - Not verified, however pages and images served in the gallery on minnesotametalurgy.com come from this domain.

http://www.hansogroup.com - Not verified, however going to the main page of thewidmoregroup.com redirects you through this url and then passes you off to thehansofoundation.org.

Bseils 19:36, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

the minnesotamettalurgy site, which was working fine yesterday and this morning for me, is now giving me a 403 error. there were some interesting looking pictures in the gallery there. perhaps an update is coming, maybe with more clues? assuming that this is/was a valid site of course. im guessing it was due to the address being an abc one. --firesign 15:11, 5 May 2006 (PDT)

update: http://www.minnesotametallurgy.com/ now returns a 404 not found error. --firesign 12:50, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

Update: http://www.thewidmoregroup.com now redirects to http://www.widmorelabs.net which displays a message that they are updating the site, and would you please check out their parent company at http://www.thewidmoregroup.com ?--Beardog4314 11:26, 11 May 2006 (PDT)

List Change: I separated those sites that are related in some way to the game, although not directly part of the game environment. The ABC, BBC and Lost Ninja Blogs are definitely privy to inside information, so should be viewed differently from sites that are "fan-sponsored".--Bernini 16:09, 12 May 2006 (PDT)

Sorry Bernini, but I just looked at those blogs, and they are in fact fan-sponsored. Those are blogs of guys doing the same thing we are. Inside information would come from somebody running the game, not playing it. They're great sites with good information, but are more game-related than game-affiliated. --Beardog4314 17:52, 12 May 2006 (PDT)

Beardog.. they aren't... insidetheexperience is run by ABC. The BBC blog is actually running banner ads for the Hanso site. The three also cross reference each other constantly. Judging by their behavior, they seem to certainly be filling a specific role from the game designers. I will hold off re-segmenting them for now, but they are definitely behind the curtain. The Lost Ninja is less obvious, but could be just generally "lower budget" than the UK and USA sites. For example, the ABC site "debunked" the relevance of the Valenzetti Foundation website to the ongoing ARG May 9...--Bernini 19:16, 12 May 2006 (PDT)

I agree with Bernini... if you read the Speaker and the other two "special" blogs, they are different from the truly fan sponsored ones, and regulars there know it. They are "plants" from the writers of the ARG to seem like they are "fan based", and won't give out major clues like water, but will point fans in the right direction if they get misled... for example, they will confirm official vs. unofficial sites. They should definitely be segregated. -PandoraX 06:06, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

I am resegregating the ABC site... the site has now confirmed two more sites as out-of-game (widmorelaboratories and globalparadigms), and given a litmus test as to which sites may be in game or not (flash = possible, no-flash = not likely). I am not moving the BBC and UK sites yet until I see something similar.--Bernini 08:43, 13 May 2006 (PDT)

And once again.. UK and AUS sites resegregated. Lost Ninja's post today pushing the Bad Twin book sealed it.--Bernini 09:47, 14 May 2006 (PDT)

The number of OOG sites appear to be creeping up. One (paik-heavy) is trying to collect emails. Added to list.--Bernini 19:22, 15 May 2006 (PDT)

update: what about www.driveshaftband.com ?

Progress[]

Hi, I think it'd be a good idea if we set up some kind of progress page, whereby we list a step by step guide of how to get everyone up to date:

i.e. 1) Phone call, 2) Login to newsletter, 3) Joop's Corner etc.

Listing the order we did things will mean that any new people to the game will know what they should be doing to catch up easily, especially since Joop's corner wont work until you've logged in etc.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing. If I weren't in the middle of packing my life up in order to move across the country, I'd do it myself. -- C13 06:17, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
  • I really enjoy this game's concept and I am wholeheartedly an active participant. But is enyone else finding what we're doing rather dry and unfullfilling? There hasn't been any real reason/motive/purpose to hunt for more clues... no story is really being developed and everything is independant of the show. We should be expecting more than a post of some #'s to decode. I really do hope something big develops or is revealed soon. I guess we have all summer. But that is a LONG time to be looking at the same clues over and over agian. I feel like Oliver, "Please sir, may I have some more?" How 'bout it Mr. Abrams? --Jasoncarubia 11:09, 8 May 2006 (PDT)
    • I have a strong suspicion that things are lulling in anticipation of this week's airing of the show. I think there'll probably be another commercial or something stuck in there. I'm wondering how long it'll be before things start getting inserted into the show itself? I do agree though, things are progressing VERY slowly... -- C13 06:20, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
      • We're running out of episodes to be inserted into, and don't forget, other countries are just starting season 2. I doubt there'll be much revealed that has a direct connection to the show.--Bremerton 05:29, 17 May 2006 (PDT)
    • The progress can be tracked at ABC's Lost Experience blog as well. I have added the link to the related links. -- Chatake 08:37, 10 May 2006 (PDT)

On Jeep and Sprite[]

To whomever posted about the name Jeep being possibly inspired by the character from Popeye... wrong. The name predates Eugene the "Jeep" by about twenty years.--Bernini 11:31, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

Widmore.com[]

I moved this from confirmed fake to undetermined because there is no evidence yet that this is indeed a confirmed fake site. Registrant appears to be ABC Inc, though the site does have a "fake" look about it... If someone has proof this is a fake site, feel free to post it here and move widmore.com back to fake, but right now I've seen nothing that indicates where this site stand in the real/fake debate... I'd call it inconclusive at this point.--Isotope23 11:36, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

I am glad you moved it back and agree with your position. As it stands right now, the content on the site is almost definitely non-game related BUT as far as the future, it could become in-game. There is some ambivalence as far as the ownership goes. I suspect we'll have an in-game widmore site soon, since the Widmores are finally being introduced to the show.--Bernini 11:38, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

Widmore.com has a creation date of 07-feb-2006, which is the day after podcast 8 told us about the Widmore Construction sign, ABC would have registered it prior to this rather than risk a fan grabing the name, it's a fan site. Joesoap

New site , please check it[]

found http://whereisalvarhanso.com/ - is it ingame? --Cool Man 0912 08:27, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Creation Date: 28-may-2006 Joesoap

In my opinion, too many typos and there are some problems with the english language that make me doubt this person is a native speaker. Plus, this format if quite different from other lost experience formats. --Charugan 20:57, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Amateurish. Out-of-game. IMHO, in-game sites will be announced and the result of direction (links within known sites or national ad campaigns). They appear so far to load new site content as it is needed, and won't let it "hang out" on the internet, thereby by-stepping spoiler-seekers. We should assume that anything else that pops up on the internet is out-of-game until otherwise proven.

-PandoraX 06:19, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

Question[]

Why were the links in 'Unconfirmed' moved to 'Confirmed Fake'? As far as I can see, they were all registered to ABC, and I don't know of any evidence that they are confirmed fake. Ridan 11:25, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Ridan: Which link do you mean is registered? I didn't move them, but I agree that they are fake, none that I know of are registered with ABC. Some have links to ABC TOU, which is not the same, as anyone can do this with any site. -PandoraX 06:11, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

Another question. Does anyone know if this page http://www.widmoregroup.com/ is in-game or fan-produced? I found it some time ago by following links from this site http://oceanicworldairlines.com/ which I've been informed is fake, but it also displays links for Bad Twin, so I'm very confused. Kelly 12:32, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Well, because Oceanic links to a few fan-sites, I believe that it is just a fan-site. And because the Widmore site links to the Oceanic site, I believe that it is a fan site. Ridan 20:50, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Does this game actually reveal anything or does is it simply superficial? I mean all that seems to happen is an endless supply of hidden codes which links to additional codes, what is supposed to be revealed? Does anyone worry that LOST is becoming so commericial that it will compromise the artistic quality of the show?

It seems to reveal things...Mayhap their full importance is not yet revealed.Ridan 09:32, 2 June 2006 (PDT)

FWIW, I've collected the revelations about THF as revealed through TLE. Is it important? Dunno. :) Jengod 10:55, 2 June 2006 (PDT)

If it's to last the entire off-season, it would have to reveal things very slowly. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 03:53, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

As to your last question (commercialism), yeah, a lot of people have this concern, and I've ranted about it at many times. But that's the nature of the world, someone's got to pay for this, so for now it's in good fun. LOST, like all TV shows, is commercial business, this spinoff ARG is just a little more in-your-face than we may be used to... it's still your choice if you want to let the ads influence you or not (so far, that is. If it turns out that Bad Twin forces us to buy a vital clue, then I may be out).

-PandoraX 06:16, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

Unlinked[]

I've removed the linking on the fake sites, as it is irresponsible for us to link to something which might scam viewers out of money/personal information. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 03:52, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

Thank you, LOSTonthisdarn, not a bad idea. I was the one who added a few new ones, we have checked IP info, and they are clearly fakes. -PandoraX 06:12, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

FAKE vs Not In-Game[]

By the looks of it, www.thf.org is a real site, just completely unconnected with Lost or the ARG. The Dreyfus Health Foundation seems to have an internet history there since 1998. I think this site should be removed from the FAKE list, and maybe we need a list of "Commonly mistaken for in-game but actually IRL" sites. Tibbalt 13:38, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

Speculation[]

  • Persephone is actually Alex Rousseau. Do the voices match? Also, the picture of Persephone on DJ Dan's podcast looks almost identical to Alex Rousseau.
  • "Gary Troup" is actually an anagram for "purgatory"
  • LOST is an acronym?... or maybe the sickness?

Comicon and the Game End[]

1. I remember Damon and Carlton talking about the Hanso announcement they'd do at Comicon relating to the ARG. What do we reckon they'll say???? 2. Will the game run now until the show end, or will it stop as Season 3 starts and perhaps re-emerge when its off-season ish once more. --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:59, 8 July 2006 (PDT)

My understanding was that the game was running until september. It would be great if it re-emerged, especially in the lean winter months between segments of season three!--Beardog4314 11:51, 20 July 2006 (PDT)

Hanso Exposed[]

Over at UnFiction, a poster called Lucent (not me) found hansoexposed.com linked on Rachel's secret blog. Quoting him - "First thing I did was put something unintelligible into the beginning of the site, for instance:

http://poopsmith.hansoexposed.com

And I was shocked to see what happened. Just like rachelblake.com, djdan.am, and all of the other in-game sites, I was redirected to thehansofoundation.org A whois corroberates this redirection as well. Now something else of note, is that this site (hansoexposed.com) has been nothing but a blank html document until today. Now it's asking for a username and password."

My question is, is this enough to put it in the 'official TLE sites' list? It isn't doing anything yet, but it might soon, especially with mittelwerk's ad encouraging us to discuss Hanso. What better title for a place to discuss?

Comments, people? --Anoma lee 00:39, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

Next Stage?[]

Should whereisalvar.com be added as part of Stage 4 of the game?

We don't know if it's the fourth stage yet, so no. And remeber to sign you comments with the four tildes; ~~~~ , thanks. --Phmall 18:07, 24 August 2006 (PDT)
When will we know? Do they formally declare it? It looks to me like something completely seperate from hansoexposed.com, but I haven't been following TLA that closely. It wasn't a tad interesting to me until the Sri Lanka video...--Piscez 12:03, 27 August 2006 (PDT)
I believe that WhereIsAlvar.com is indeed the beginning of Phase (Stage) 4. Matt the pale 06:08, 4 September 2006 (PDT)

Last two Fragments in London and Manchester[]

Track down the codes to the last two fragments in Manchester and London Next Week meet up with other lost experiance players and compete to be the first to track down the final two uk codes. This is your last chance to get regognised as a key member of the lost Experience To take part players need to meet at the following start points (along with a map of the city and mobile phone) at midday. Full instructions of how to track down the codes will then be revealed:

LONDON THURSDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER START 12 NOON MEET THAMES FOOTPATH BETWEEN ISLE OF DOGS AND GREENWICH -ISLE OF DOGS SIDE

Anagrams, anyone?[]

Well, I (Dark Blade) was looking at The Hanso Foundation website when I right-clicked and pressed play to discover some hidden writing. And here it is:

Pdeo eo jkp ukqn bwqhp. Wo ukq kjya odkqpaz wp pda pkl kb ukqn hqjco, sa'ra whh ckp "xhkkz kj kqn dwjzo." E fqop dkla iu bneajz eo naopejc awou.

Sdana wna ukq? E'hh jaaz ukq pk iaap ia ej Jknswu.

I can't be bother deciphering it, so, this can be a challenge.

Phases 4 & 5?[]

So ... what are Phases 4 & 5? The only real possible explanation is that whereisalvar.com was Phase 4, and that the final podcast/video is Phase 5. Any other theories? LJB4815162342 09:26, 21 September 2006 (PDT)

I'm in agreement with the above. Phase 4 - WIA, Phase 5 - podcast and final video. -nischwartz

On September 26th, two days after the Experience officially ended, the Hanso Foundation homepage was updated with a letter from Alvar Hanso stating he would try to pick up the pieces of the Foundation and salvage its reputation. Clicking on the second instance of the word "humanity" in the third paragraph brings users to a video message from Thomas Werner Mittelwerk, saying he has the virus and will use it at all costs. Some online users are speculating that the game might continue through the mid-season break of LOST and wrap up the story before LOST returns in January.

Questions Left Over from the Experience[]

It was whatever was happening on Sri Lanka - And what was happening on Sri Lanka was the virus and trying to kill x% of humanity.
  • Where are the last 2 clips of Gary Troups book interview?
Good question!
Guess he actually did die!
  • Why are the Hanso Foundation harvesting organs, and why do they want to kill 30% of the population?
Life Extention or one of their other programs and the second half - to try to change one of the core valenzetti variables.
  • What happened to Rachel's mother?
Malick said: "Because he wanted me to help you, and I can't question a man who would launch the Mental Health Appeal... to save a loved one."
  • Will we ever see the Valenzetti Equation book?
Hanso bought up all the rights!
  • Why didn't Rachel seem intrested in DJ Dan live podcast?
She's been chased all Summer - you'd be tired too!
  • What is the 'Apollo Candy drug' all about?
What do you mean "What's it all about?"

--S

It is possible some of the question will be answered next Summer, because I am guessing, no proof just thought, that they may do Lost Experience 2 next summer.

Some of these questions (in particular, Spider Protocol, Valenzetti, and the killing of the population) are possibly going to be answered in Season 3. It would explain very well why they would bring it up and then leave it unexplained, much as they did with Bad Twin and Apollo Bars in Season 2 of the show.--NotARedHerring 12:10, 26 September 2006 (PDT)

"*Why didn't Rachel seem intrested in DJ Dan live podcast?

She's been chased all Summer - you'd be tired too!"

Come on she had this "major news." I'd be excited. I think Rachel has been comprimised. --   Dee4leeds  talk  contribs  all  12:17, 26 September 2006 (PDT)

Is this stuff canon?[]

Is everything revealed via the Lost Experience considered canon with regards to the show's universe? I seem to remember reading a brief article about the Experience, and someone on the production team said that it should be considered independent from the show. Anybody know the official word on this?--Zeno 13:58, 14 October 2006 (PDT)

TLE being independent of the show means that you dont have to play TLE to watch lost. Its still part of lost.ZEKE?(>

Carrying On?[]

Does anybody know if TLE will continue? Im hoping that it will continue during the hiatus between episode 6 and 7, but at the moment it doesnt look likely?.. lewisg

If this is to happen, its more than likely going to at the end of Season 3, not during the hiatus. Don't fret, there are plenty of places to get information from in the mean time! -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  03:23, 8 November 2006 (PST)
But not plenty for entertainment! They're going to go thirteen (12? i can't remember...) weeks without giving us anything at all? What kind of fools are these?--NotARedHerring 21:12, 8 November 2006 (PST)
Any news more recently about TLE returning? Anyone at the fuselage got anything from the writers? I dont use the site so i dont know how it works but i know people get in touch with writers lol. Get back to me anyone :D --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 09:29, 13 March 2007 (PDT)

Extended Experience[]

There was an article at [1] about all of TLE coming out on 1 HD BluRay DVD in a documentary-ish format. I was going to use the article to add to this page, but the page at TLE disappeared. Does anyone have any information about this? --ZEKE?(>

Again?[]

Does anyone know if there will be any Lost Experience action this summer? We will have no new Lost episodes between May and January, so it would be nice to have something going on this summer. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 08:42, 8 April 2007 (PDT)

Lost Relevance[]

I think there should be a section which lists which thing learned from The Lost Experience are actually relevant to the show itself. (i.e. what can TLE help understand more about LOST?)
