Canon or Not?Edit

Yes, this page is a mess, but I had to get something up and started. A bit of background:

Simeon Hobbes started following me on Twitter at 2:59 16 May 2009 GMT/UTC. I had previously sent out a tweet with the message:

What lies in the shadow of the statue? Ile qui nos omnes servabit. {LATIN: He who will save us all.} #LOST http://tinyurl.com/qdj6yf

You can read my tweet here.

I don't know how this Simeon Hobbes Twitter account relates to Lost, or if it's even official, but I'm not ready to discount it at this stage, given the types of web marketing Lost has employed before...

YouTube VideoEdit

Okay, a video has been posted on YouTube called "Who is Simeon Hobbes?" by the account thelostexperience. This basically confirms that Simeon Hobbes is an official creation for Lost, not a fan-made stunt.
--Doctag 07:03, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

  • I strongly disagree that that proves anything of the sort. What is the YouTube account "thelostexperience?" Is it official? --Ghtx 16:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Agree with above- thelostexperience is not (AFAIK) any kind of official account on YouTube.--Chocky 17:14, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm trying to verify if this was the original source of the original Gary Troup TLE videos. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  18:54, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
  • I also don't think the YouTube account has any official ties to ABC. DocArzt also privately told me that he doesn't think this ARG is official, and he often has inside information (though not necessarily about this, I admit). I blogged about other evidence here: http://bit.ly/17Q1Ai -- but please let us know what you find out, plkrtn. --the JoshMeister 03:08, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Posting DatesEdit

I wonder if it's just coincidence that Simeon Hobbes began tweeting on the 15th and has continued on the 16th (instead of beginning on the 13th or 14th, the day of and the day after the finale). It will be interesting to see if he stops after today and continues on the 23rd. --Jicannon 20:49, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

  • According to this website, "The Festival of Bast occurs four times during the year! April 15 (along with the Festival of Heru, or Horus -- Bast’s twin brother), May 15 (along with the Festival of Het Heret, or Hathor, and the Great Feast of the Southern Heavens), September 22, and November 16. Notice that this is using a solar calendar... " --Doctag 02:01, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
    • September 22 was the day that flight 815 crashed... though that's likely a coincidence. Rawr? 05:07, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Twitter Feed Edit

I added the RSS feed for the Twitter search "from:simeonhobbes", which contains all of his tweets, even if they have been deleted. I was wondering if we should leave both feeds on the page?--Perceman 08:20, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Another Video linked to his twitter Edit

I just noticed that Simeon Hobbs sent a video to a tweeter called @tgosnell called "And with this fire i purify" Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czpUwW0QS0A It does repeat itself but the ending of it is interesting. The colors invert from black background to white text, to white background and black text and the sound stops. Just like the season finale where "LOST" ending screen is inverted. I dont know what she says or what the music is but it sure is weird. source: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=from%3Asimeonhobbes --Adumrara 00:58, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

NOT RELATED Edit

Just wanted to let you know, I've contacted a few people who I know from past ARGs, one being a former Hoodlum intern during TLE. They said that these Twitter posts are NOT official. As far as they know, they are just random people messing around. -- Crazy Bearded Jack 14:23, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Hoodlum was not responsible for TLE as far as i know. --   Steff    talk    contribs    email   19:02, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
    • Correct Hoodlum did find815 and the Dharma one, TLE was inhouse. --Gluphokquen Gunih 22:25, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
      • Yeah, my mistake, I meant 815. I just kind of call all the ARGs "The Lost Experience" out of habit. I apologize for that mistake. But, you're right, ABC did TLE, as their were Jeep and other tie-ins, etc. -- Crazy Bearded Jack 14:13, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
        • Well, just because Hoodlum isn't running it doesn't mean it's not official. I've heard a lot of fans say they were disappointed in the Hoodlum ARGs compared the TLE. Maybe they went back to inhouse, or found another group to run them? I'm hoping for official, but remaining cautiously optimistic. --Gluphokquen Gunih 22:25, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
          • I hope they change the company, I mean while "The Project" was kindda interesting, I personally (and many others) was disappointed with "Find 815", and I hope this one will be like "The Lost Experience" in which I unfortunately didn't participate in. The new ARG sounds promising though. --Orhan94 22:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, it appears they've come clean about he hoax now. --Crazy Bearded Jack 14:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

  • No, some random unrelated account on twitter is accusing it of being a fake. Doesn't that seem suspicious to you? We have no confirmation on this, yet people are jumping right on the "hoax!" bandwagon.Makahari2000 15:06, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
    • And what do you have to say about it now? --Crazy Bearded Jack 14:55, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
      • you are taunting and there is no need to be antagonistic, at the time (before the blog confession) he had a valid point.--Masliquin 20:02, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
        • Sorry to sound "taunting" but I tried to nip this things days before they came out as being fake. I attempted to save people a lot of time and annoyance. -- Crazy Bearded Jack 14:43, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

MARK FOR DELETION Edit

Since this is a proven hoax, and really has little to do with LOST, I propose we delete this page, as well as Epithet Alpha. Neither of these things has any place on this site, unless it is marked clearly as "hoax" and included the apology, as does bigspaceship.com -- Crazy Bearded Jack 14:59, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. Masquerading as an authentic ARG was an insult to us all. -- Roobydo  talk  contribs  22:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
To my knowledge, in the game there was never any declaration that this was anything authenticated by ABC/Lindelof & Cuse, etc. If you believed that it was, that's your fault for not being suspicious enough in the first place. The game is not part of "canon", but it's an elaborate fan phenomenon that utilizes the language of LOST in order to keep fans busy. And the guy running the game receives no profit, so this is not content contrary to the articles of Lostpedia. --Bigpharma 22:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)bigpharma
I mean, if I start putting out Lost related tweets, will someone write an article about me?-- Roobydo  talk  contribs  22:59, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
