  • Is this what the device on Keamy's arm used to trigger them?

Torching the island[]

What about torching the island? Wasn't this part of the sec protocol? --Darth Stefan 17:04, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Darth Stefan

What Orchid IS or cannot BE[]

I thought the point of the Secondary Protocol - the first being to capture Ben - was to use chemical weapons to kill everyone on the Island. The point being that if he was unable to be captured the Island was to be retaken by force. Widmore can obviously find it. If it is CLEAR for his "heavily invested" positions to reinstitute control regardless of the rules, then it would be so done. Provided the success of the mercenaries of course. In this event, and perhaps if not, yet in subsequent attempts in 2007, with "geologists" and electric BOXES, a further understanding of Island properties would allow for an absolute takeover given a persuasive enough argument to the "natives." Since this also was not achieved we may only surmise that there is no "shape of things to come." And in the THEORETICAL repetitive nature of Island life, if ONE of Hurley's people were to become rogue like Widmore, then there would be at least some tangent cogent "experience" of end-time events to work with. Question: if LOST 2 happened under Hurley and we cannot know if there is still an Island after his reign as protector, then whose to say that another Widmore doesn't succeed bringing the end of Island culture as the show depicts it? If this is the case what happens when the next Widmore succeeds in overtaking the "Leader" for his own benefit. WHEN THIS ARTICLE OPENS UP BY SAYING THAT THE DHARMA INITIATIVE HAD A PROTOCOL FOR DEALING WITH - NOBODY - IT PRETENDS THAT IT WAS NOT WIDMORE'S PLAN. this IS EGREGIOUS! The plan was a set of prescriptions in the event that control of the Island could not be maintained by fate-driven people. Ben was supposed to kill Alex, and she died. So, if Widmore worked for Jacob, and Jacob did not work for the Dharma Initiative, but DI/Jacob were in conflict, then not doing all Jacob wanted allowed Alex to live 16 years, and changed Ben, then the value of Ben as leader is nil. Since we know - I think - Ben defected to MIB's side and was not in a position of knowledge to run anything - "That's how Jacob ran things" - then it becomes propitious that with no Dharma Initiative and chaotic leadership on the Island, AFTER a "purge", that power will repay with pain, and the Dharma Initiative could not have written an instruction manual to find BEN since it would be impossible for them to know: that Widmore would send someone after Ben, nor who Ben would become, nor what Ben would become, nor that he could not be captured, nor that he would go to the Orchid, nor that the attempt would be unsuccessful, nor that Ben would move the Island, nor that the loop-hole would be created, nor that their enemy Jacob would be killed, nor that there would be another attempt to retake the Island in 2007. The SECONDARY PROTOCOL is a KILL order for anyone who gets in the way. In Round 2, after Hurley, there's no way of knowing if it didn't work - so they can find Walt --Sawyerslawyer (talk) 00:55, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
